http://www.jessicamarieenergy.com/blog Is Thanksgiving on your mind? Thanksgiving is definitely on my mind with it only being 3 1/2 days away. I used to worry a lot about this time of year. It was when I would always become derailed from my weight loss efforts; I'm sure many of you have the same worries. I always just told myself I was going to gain anyway so why even bother with watching what I ate.
After a year into my weight loss journey I learned one surprising fact: I did not have to gain weight over the holidays, in fact, I could even lose weight. It was a bit less than those used to losing but 0.5 - 1.0 pounds lost during one week is fabulous.
I learned that it was all about being observant and conscious of what I ate. On top of that to beat down the old wives tale of turkey making you sleepy....That just is not true. It is actually the eating high quantities of carbohydrates, sugars and just simply eating way too much food. Your body either ends up so stuffed that it needs you to rest so it can spend all its energy on digestion or it has been hit with such a high content of sugar all at once that it crashes.
This Thanksgiving you can lose the weight and maintain your energy. Plan for the family gathering by exercising a little more each day leading up to the meal and the few days following the meal, start drinking an extra two glasses of water today and continue through next week to help with all that excess sodium.
