In the beginning the Mach1 started as a 68 fastback that had been modified as a concept model. In 1969 Ford went away from the Fastback term to calling them Sport Roofs. The 1969 Mach1 had a blacked out hood treatment with hood pins and special decals. The interior had a Rimblow steering wheel, teak wood grain details and high-back sport bucket seats. Under the hood was a variety of motors plus the option of a “Shaker Hood” an air scoop mounted directly to the top of the motor, used to collect fresh air and so named for its tendency to "shake" above the rumbling V-8 below. Other options included chrome gas cap, wheels, chrome exhaust tips, chin spoiler rear deck spoiler and rear window slats. Send me a picture and description of your car to be posted on the site.
