Learn About Forms of Meditation - part of the women's fitness video series by GeoBeats. There are many types of meditation. There are meditations around movement, walking meditation where you would walk back and forth in a given prescribed path or in a circle. You can meditate while you are eating and you would not do that with your eyes closed but you would be aware of each bite as you take it. You chew your food thoroughly and you are aware as you are chewing your food and you do not put one spoon full or fork full into your mouth until you are finished with the one you are eating. How often do you look forward to a meal some of your favorite foods and then before you know it the plate is empty and you do not remember eating any of it? That is a meditation when you pay attention to what you are eating. So you can experience each bite and each morsel, that is mediation. Meditation can be anywhere, whatever you are doing when you are paying attention, when you notice you are caught in your thinking and you bring your awareness back to the present that is mediation. Other types of meditation are Tai Chi, where you have the movement absolutely focused in the present time. Yoga is a meditation because when you are in a pose and an asana you are absolutely focused in the present time very much aware of what is going on in your body especially if it is a tight pose and you learn how to stay with what is going on. Whether it is pleasant or unpleasant you learn how to stay in the present moment. So all of these types of trainings are meditative in nature. Each of these types of meditations have people who love them and people who do not love them so much and it is not that one is so much better than another one but every person is different and what appeals to one person may not appeal to another person. So I would suggest if you are interested try a couple of them out but give them some time, do not go meditation hopping but spend some time really absorbing what it feels like and find out what works for you. What brings you the most relief. That is probably the one that you want to take up with.
