The ability to be calm inspite what is going on around you. We are not so driven by what comes down the pike, and we can maintain a sense of balance in the world. Equanimity is the million dollar word. Equanimity, that sense of balance in spite of what happens. We begin to develop an appropriate response to what ever life has to offer. When we are greeted with sadness, our response is compassion. When we are greeted with happiness, our response is joy. So it is that ability to just be solid in our grounding. And to summarize, the benefit of meditation is to truly know what is going on, and to truly know your own experience for what it is.
