00:01The EU warned TikTok on Friday that it must change the harmful design of its personalized
00:07for-you feed or risk large fines under the bloc's digital rules,
00:12the Digital Services Act or DSA, after finding preliminary evidence of violations.
00:18TikTok's personalized feed shows content that causes harm if viewed in repetition.
00:24Self-harm videos, body image, weight loss, depressing content.
00:30The longer and more you engage with such content, the more TikTok will show it to you.
00:37This pulls users into harmful loops of content, the so-called rabbit holes.
00:44This has to stop because it has an impact on users.
00:48Anxiety, sadness, lower self-esteem and mental health issues, to name just a few.
00:55TikTok has rejected the Commission's findings, saying they misrepresent how its platform works
01:00and the measures it has taken to protect users.
01:03The European Commission said TikTok had taken steps to address these risks,
01:07but they had not been effective enough, calling for further changes to the platform's design.
01:16Pope Leo XIV is kicking off a three-nation tour of Latin America with a visit to Uruguay,
01:23the region's most secular country, three weeks after undergoing lung cancer surgery
01:28that had put the entire trip into question.
01:31The Uruguay leg is the first stop on what will be the longest and farthest trip of his pontificate.
01:37According to media reports, Pope Leo is expected to recall the Church's opposition to abortion and euthanasia
01:45as part of his broader argument about upholding human dignity in all phases of life.
01:52Uruguay is considered the most secular country in Latin America,
01:57which is home to 40% of the world's Catholics.
01:59Only a fraction of Uruguayans who identify as Catholic go to Mass regularly.
02:04Church officials in Uruguay have marveled at the apparent enthusiasm the visit has provoked,
02:10with reports that tickets to Leo's prayer vigil at Montevideo's Centenario Stadium
02:15were snapped up after two days.
02:17The trip will also bring Pope Leo to neighboring Argentina and finally back home to Peru,
02:23where the Pope served as a missionary priest and bishop for two decades.
02:34Spain, Italy, Greece and Cyprus are considered under migratory pressure by the European Commission,
02:39according to a report presented on Friday.
02:42Next year, the four countries under pressure will benefit from the solidarity of other member states,
02:48which can take the form of relocating asylum seekers to their territory or of financial contributions.
02:54The report also identifies 15 states at risk of migratory pressure,
03:00including Germany, France and Poland.
03:02A third group is classed as facing a significant migratory situation.
03:07The Commission said it had taken account of the arrival of more than 80,000 irregular migrants in Suta at
03:14the end of July.
03:15However, the mass arrival is not expected to lead to a proportionate increase
03:20in the number of asylum seekers relocated next year.
03:24The annual asylum and migration report also assessed member states' solidarity to date,
03:31flagging problems with Hungary and Slovakia.
03:37Belgium's King Philippe has rejected Prime Minister Bart de Wever's resignation
03:41and asked him to resume budget talks immediately.
03:44De Wever offered to step down on Monday after coalition partners failed to agree
03:49on a 2027 spending plan.
03:52After meeting leaders of the five governing parties,
03:55the king said they had committed to making concessions to reach an agreement.
04:00De Wever is seeking 10 billion euros by 2029 to close the budget gap,
04:05but parties remain divided over how to find the money.
04:09Proposals include spending cuts and a VAT increase,
04:12opposed by the francophone liberal reformist movement.
04:14De Wever must report back to the king on Monday, November the 16th.
04:25Lawyers representing 18 protesters injured during a wave of demonstrations across France
04:31have announced plans to take Interior Minister Laurent Nunez
04:35to court over alleged police brutality.
04:38They accused Nunez of authorising the use of weapons that he allegedly knew could cause
04:43permanent injuries and were unsuitable for maintaining public order.
04:47Around 10 of the lawyers' clients have already agreed to join the collective complaint,
04:53while the legal team represents at least 18 people injured during demonstrations in recent weeks.
04:58The complaint centres on the use of so-called blast balls,
05:03launchers and explosive grenades,
05:05weapons that have repeatedly been criticised by human rights organisations.
05:10At least 20 people, many of them teenagers,
05:13have suffered serious injuries at the hands of police since mid-September.
05:18According to a source close to the case cited by AFP,
05:22police had opened 105 internal investigations into allegations of brutality as of October the 30th.
05:33Bomb alerts continue to affect flights across Europe on Friday,
05:37with aircraft in Portugal, France and Italy affected.
05:40A Ryanair flight from Rome to Lisbon landed safely in the Portuguese capital shortly on Friday
05:46after a warning of a possible explosive device on board.
05:49Portuguese media reported that police had received a call about the threat.
05:53There was no confirmation of explosive being found on board.
05:57Meanwhile, France reported four more alerts involving planes flying over French territory.
06:03All the aircraft landed safely,
06:05with security checks subsequently carried out in all instances.
06:09A Viz air flight from Prague to Rome was also diverted to Venice after another bomb alert.
06:14The incidents followed bomb scares, affecting at least 25 flights across Europe on Thursday.
06:21EU officials said it was too early to know whether the cases were linked,
06:25but the Irish government said they and additional hoax threats in Dublin
06:29were likely part of a coordinated campaign of disruption.
06:36The European Public Prosecutor's Office,
06:38the EU body that investigates fraud involving European funds,
06:42has opened a probe into possible fraud over renovation of Spain's Madrid-sevié high-speed rail line.
06:48The EPPO launched the investigation on its own initiative.
06:51It concerns EU money for upgrades to safety, signalling, and communication systems.
06:58Spanish authorities have begun gathering evidence.
07:01The EU provided 111 million euros for the project in 2024.
07:06The probe follows two deadly crashes on the line.
07:0946 people died in January, while 69 were killed in the October 28 crash near Urda.
07:16Meanwhile, applications for compensation have opened for those affected by the latest crash.
07:21Families of victims and injured passengers can apply until the 5th of February, 2027.
07:27More than 100 people were estimated to have been injured.
07:31The aid includes grants for immediate needs and advanced payments of future compensation.
07:39Good morning everybody and warmly welcome.
07:41Finland's defense minister urged the United States to start delivering Patriot interceptor missiles to Ukraine.
07:47In late October, the US approved the sale of 500 Patriot missiles worth 2 billion euros to Kiev.
07:54And now is the most critical time to have all the air defense capabilities for Ukraine, what we can arrange.
08:01We have the funding, we have the funding, now we need the stocks to be delivered to Ukraine.
08:09And there's also some other countries globally which can support, but we need the political willingness also from the US
08:16side to start the deliveries.
08:18Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned of the consequences of delaying deliveries,
08:23urging Washington to first provide them to Ukraine before replenishing US stocks.
08:28Hekinen insisted Europeans are now the biggest supporter of Ukraine, so the continent cannot show signs of exhaustion or it
08:36would weaken its negotiation position.
08:44The European Union and the United Kingdom are preparing to reconnect the carbon markets.
08:49The move could spare manufacturers on both sides of the channel from additional carbon border charges.
08:55Carbon markets are designed to encourage industries to invest in decarbonization by putting a price on emissions.
09:02The two sides are expected to announce the conclusion of negotiations to link their respective emissions trading systems at the
09:09EU-UK summit in Brussels on the 20th of November.
09:12It also paves the way for goods originating in the EU and UK to be exempted from their respective carbon
09:18border adjustment mechanisms.
09:20Analysts say that linking the systems would create a larger carbon market, making it easier for companies to trade emissions
09:27permits.
09:27But closer integration would also bring regulatory obligations, as the two carbon markets have different rules on transport and buildings.
09:35The deal would represent a significant step in the post-Brexit rapprochement between London and Brussels.

10:49A short time ago, the US military carried out massive precision strikes on the three
10:56key nuclear facilities in the Iranian regime, Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.
11:06Everybody heard those names for years as they built this horribly destructive enterprise.
11:13Our objective was the destruction of Iran's nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the
11:20nuclear threat posed by the world's number one state sponsor of terror.
11:24Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success.
11:33Iran's key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated.
11:38It's been a long time ago, Florida.
