00:00President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signs an executive order allowing school heads to suspend and resume
00:05classes. Publicized Tuesday, November 3, EO No. 130 introduces a framework for the suspension
00:11and resumption of face-to-face classes through the following mechanisms, automatic, localized,
00:16and granular. The EO also seeks to ensure the quote, uninterrupted delivery of quality education
00:22through risk-informed, science-based, locally responsive policies that support learning
00:27continuity. But the order is still pending formal implementing guidelines. Through granular
00:32suspensions, a school can suspend classes even if there is no suspension order by a local chief
00:37executive. This must be based on documented site-specific conditions that may pose a threat
00:42to the safety, health, and welfare of students and school personnel. School heads can also declare
00:47resumption of face-to-face classes. The granular suspension and resumption of classes must still
00:52be in coordination with the local chief executive.
