00:00We continue in the U.S. to continue examining these political and social dimensions in which these midterm elections will
00:07evolve.
00:08We are joined by our correspondent Jorge Gestoso. Hello, Jorge. Welcome.
00:17Welcome. And we are definitely in the final stretch on the last 24 hours of these midterm elections here in
00:26the U.S.
00:28Some an hour ago, President Trump was giving his last speech trying to convince the final voters that could be
00:38undecided.
00:40Here at the National Mall, he was giving a speech and trying to present, among all the things, projects that
00:48he has still remaining to be done.
00:51And also reminding that in his flamboyant wording that this is the most important election in the history of the
01:02U.S., quote unquote, words of President Trump.
01:06In the meantime, we are acknowledging that the Supreme Court has received claims that they're trying to interfere in the
01:17counting of 20,000 votes in the state of California with the argument that could be not of legal citizens.
01:28And they're trying to create some confusion in that sense.
01:33Also, that we have learned that more and more the polls are favoring the chances of the Democrats.
01:41And we are talking that in terms of governorships also out of the 36 in place at risk, 22 are
01:51favored, according to the polls, to Democrats.
01:54So there is a general consensus among the pollsters that it seems that it seems that could be a reality
02:03that the House of Representatives is going to be recovered by the Democrats.
02:08And the polls indicate there are positive feelings of what could be the chances of what could be the Democrats
02:18also to recover the Senate.
02:20In that case, it could be a turning point in the governing of the United States because many of the
02:27policies that President Trump is intending to implement in the second half of his term could be definitely a challenge,
02:38at least.
02:38So in terms of the, as you were mentioning, the participation of the voters is definitely much more, much more
02:49intention, much more concern than in previous elections, given the fact that there is too much at stake for many
02:57Americans.
02:58Again, the economy being the key issue, the cost of living has increased drastically as a consequence of the policies
03:08of President Trump, especially regarding wars and regarding tariffs.
03:13And also in terms of immigration, given the fact that the implementation of the policies against undocumented Hispanics and immigrants
03:27has been denounced as being too far, too strong, too violent.
03:32So far, that's the headlines of what's going on at this hour here in Washington, D.C.
03:37And now we get back to you.
03:40Thank you very much for the information you provide us.
