00:00As the U.S. midterm elections approach, rising living caused immigration concern and dissatisfaction
00:08when Donald Trump's are shaping voters' priorities.
00:13Our correspondent and upbrings bring us the details.
00:18Yes, hello again.
00:19So, what are U.S. citizens expecting from these midterm elections?
00:24More than anything, voters are not happy with how things are going under Donald Trump
00:29and want Congress to push policy in a different direction, or at least limit Trump's administration.
00:35The economy and cost of living remain the biggest issue.
00:39In the latest Reuters Ipsos poll, 73% say costs are moving in the wrong direction,
00:44while only 20% approve of Trump's handling of this issue.
00:49Immigration is another major concern this election.
00:53A Fox News poll from last month found 53% of voters say Trump's immigration enforcement had gone too far,
01:01even as many still support deportations or tighter border enforcement in principle.
01:07Foreign policy is unusually prominent this year, with the war in Iran and support for Israel
01:14among the top issues influencing voters, with higher fuel prices bringing some of the consequences home.
01:20That dissatisfaction is shaping what voters want from Congress.
01:25An ABC, Washington Post, Ipsos poll last week showed 59% said they want Democratic control
01:33specifically to act as a check on Trump.
01:36But that doesn't necessarily mean enthusiasm for Democrats.
01:40Their advantage may instead be motivation among their voters.
01:44A Reuters Ipsos poll this week found 46% of Democratic voters very enthusiastic about voting,
01:51compared with just 30% of Republicans.
01:54So, this midterm appears driven less by enthusiasm for the Democrats,
01:59than by dissatisfaction with Trump and a desire to put his power in check.
