00:06Hi everyone, it's Taylor from Refinery29. Today I'm going to show you one of my favorite beauty
00:10tricks. I'm always getting compliments on my curls, and people are usually shocked to find
00:14out that I do it with a flat iron. So today I'm going to show you how. Today I'll be
00:19prepping my
00:19hair with the Kerastase Fiber Architect Repair Serum. For a flexible hold, I'll be using the
00:25Shu Amora Sheer Lacquer Micro Finish Spray. The flat iron I'll be using is the GHD 1 inch
00:31Styler. I'll be using this flat iron because it gets upwards of 400 degrees. The high heat
00:36helps hold curl and super straight hair. After I've completed curling, I'll be using the Moroccan
00:41oil treatment to add moisture to the ends of my hair. I like to start with my hair a couple
00:46days dirty so that it holds the curl better. I start by putting the Kerastase Fiber Architect
00:51serum in to protect my ends, since most flat irons get upwards of 400 degrees. Now I'm
00:57going to section my hair off into two sections. I'm going to pull the hair in front of my
01:01shoulder so that it's easily accessible. And using an alligator clip, I'm going to clip
01:06the top layer of my hair up and behind my head so that it's out of the way. Now you're
01:13going to want to use a flexible hold hairspray. Today I'll be using the Shu Amora Sheer Lacquer
01:17Spray. I make sure to coat the strands evenly so that the curl hold is not going to be
01:21cold. Now we're ready to go. You're going to want to start with a small section of your
01:29hair. It's important to curl the hair away from your face for the most natural look.
01:34Clamping the flat iron to the root of the hair, we're going to rotate it 90 degrees and
01:39pull the hair back out around. Using small clamps, we're going to work our way down the
01:44shaft of the hair. You're going to want to release the flat iron and press it again as
01:48you move. And voila! Using the same technique, continue curling in small sections. It's important
01:58to make small, even clamps as you're moving down the length of your hair so that you have
02:02a natural, even curl. This will ensure that you don't have any weird kinks in the curl.
02:08Now that you've finished the bottom section, you're going to want to move on to the middle
02:10section. Don't forget to hairspray. And again, using a small section, I'm going to do the same
02:35thing. I like to start from the back because that seems to be the hardest part for me and
02:40work my way to the front.
03:06Now we're ready to switch to the other side. Since we're switching sides, we're going to
03:11want to make sure that the direction you're curling your flat iron also switches. Once
03:25I've finished, I put Moroccan oil in the ends of my hair. You're going to want to use the
03:34hairspray again for a once-over. And there you have it. Sexy, easy curls, all with a flat
03:44iron.
