00:08And I'm hair and makeup artist Bethany Brill.
00:10I'm dying to learn how to trim my own ends.
00:13The good news is you can do it at home and save a lot of money in the process.
00:16I'll show you how.
00:18To begin the haircut, we're going to wet down the hair with a spray bottle
00:21so that we can get a uniform texture and a straight cut.
00:26Brush the water into your hair to evenly distribute it and straighten out each strand.
00:32Now we're going to section the hair into two parts.
00:37Do a center part and then drag your finger all the way down to the back of your neck,
00:43separating the hair in two parts.
00:45Drag the comb through each section, flattening the hair so you can visibly see the ends.
00:50Comb through one section at a time, taking your first finger and middle finger,
00:57clamp the hair and move the fingers down the shaft of the hair to the ends, creating a straight line.
01:03Trim ends at a 45 degree angle.
01:10To add a layer around the face, you're going to take the section in front of your ears,
01:15slide your fingers from your ear towards the crown of your head until your fingers meet.
01:21Gather this top section, pulling the hair that's in front behind your shoulders.
01:26The top section hair you can pull towards your face, securing the remainder of the hair in a ponytail to
01:33keep it out of the way.
01:34If your hair is dry at all at this point, you should re-wet it.
01:38We're going to take our first finger and middle finger, sliding it down the hair,
01:43this time at a 45 degree angle, the shortest part towards your face.
01:49Then trim ends at the same 45 degree angle cutting motion.
01:59So now it's time to check our work.
02:01Take the back section out and brush it all around.
02:07So that's all there is to it.
02:09Now just as a note, this is not a replacement for a hair stylist,
02:13but it will extend your time between haircuts.
