00:00I'll start with John T from Premier League Studios.
00:05Hi David.
00:06Hi there.
00:06Agree-wise, fitness-wise, you come through that okay?
00:09I think so.
00:11I mean, you never, and I know, sorry, we're talking about Monday,
00:13but you never know exactly until you sort of get them back in tomorrow
00:17and see how everybody is.
00:19And, you know, but hopefully, hopefully things will be okay.
00:23And how much of tonight's performance can you take into Monday
00:28and excuse the pond, or is it a different ball game?
00:30It's a different ball game, go to St James' Park on a Monday evening
00:33and, you know, they've got a great crowd up there.
00:37So you always know you're up against it, but we'll go with confidence.
00:42You know, we've played Newcastle a couple of times this year and done well,
00:44so we have to try and continue it.
00:47But, you know, Newcastle have got some really, really good players
00:51and, you know, players you need to concern yourself about.
00:54And you talk about confidence.
00:56A few moments ago you were talking about Tiano Barry
00:58and you see a wry smile on your face.
01:02Strikers live off goals.
01:03They live off confidence.
01:04Is he a man in confidence now?
01:06It's 7-11 in all competitions.
01:08He gets an assist, I think, as well tonight.
01:09Sounds good, that, doesn't it?
01:11Sounds pretty good, David.
01:11I'm not saying that again.
01:127-11, did you?
01:14You know?
01:15So, no, really pleased for him because, look, he's got some limitations,
01:20but he's trying his best to make them better and try to get better.
01:23And, you know, we're very short in that area.
01:28And we did consider tonight maybe making a change
01:31and looking to see if we could do something else.
01:33But we stuck with it and he got a good goal.
01:36So, pleased for him.
01:37And just finally for me, you talk about the atmosphere as well tonight.
01:40It was electric at times.
01:41You talk about going through to quarterfinals.
01:43The fans will be ecstatic with this.
01:45And likewise, you travel well in your numbers.
01:47You expect them to carry you through what will no doubt be a tricky tie on Monday night as well.
01:51Yeah, I mean, look, Newcastle brought a fantastic support down here tonight.
01:56And I've got no doubt that we Everton supporters will do the same.
02:00We have away from home.
02:03So, yeah, tough game.
02:05Monday night games are never easy as well.
02:07But I'm looking forward to it now.
02:097-11.
02:107-11.
02:12Sounds like a drink now or something.
02:14Is that a shop?
02:16Yeah, yeah.
02:17Yeah.
02:21Hi, David.
02:22I presume would Jared be fine for Monday after missing the last two?
02:27Jared should have recovered from his concussion and also the timescale which we had to abide by.
02:37And Tyreek obviously won the ball back for the first goal.
02:42Hackney scores the second goal.
02:44How happy are you to see those players that you've sort of put in and out of the team starting
02:50to become good consistently?
02:52Yeah, I've been getting asked a few times and I think it happens quite often, you know, that people talk
02:55about the players who are not in the team.
02:56You know, we've actually started the season in the main pretty well.
03:03So, Hayden's been, you know, not had much of a run in the likes of Tyreek, started well, came out
03:09a little bit.
03:11So, I think because they're young players, in Hayden's case, it's because they're getting used to coming from the Championship,
03:15a wee bit, and getting them.
03:17And in Tyreek's it's a little bit of young, being young and making those decisions.
03:21But even tonight, Tyler as well, I thought in the first half he'd done well, Tyler struggled a bit more
03:27when it got to the second half.
03:28But I think they're beginning to show a bit more and they're up-and-coming young players.
03:33So, hopefully we can keep developing them and they'll continue to get better.
03:38Any further questions? Chris?
03:44James Garner was obviously Everton's play of the season, last season.
03:47Could that be a big moment for him tonight? You took it really confidently, that finish.
03:51Yeah, I think I used his injury during the close season when he came back and he needed a hernia
03:59and he came back really quick.
04:00And I think he's taken a little bit to build up, even though he's rushed back because he knew we
04:04needed him.
04:05He's so important for us, but I think the goal tonight will give him a bit of confidence.
04:10Not that he desperately needs it, he's been away with England in the recent trip as well.
04:16So, we're pleased with Jimmy.
04:17I just think he's still got a bit to go to reach the levels he was at last season.
04:22So, hopefully that continues.
04:24You've got options for different combinations now in midfield.
04:27Obviously, Harrison's played a lot this season, but then was just a sub tonight.
04:30Yeah.
04:30Yeah, I mean, look, one of the reasons Hayden's had the problem is because of the form of Harrison.
04:35He's done so well.
04:36So, it's good.
04:37I've now got, you know, it's given me a bit more choices, a bit more decisions.
04:41And, you know, Hayden's performance as well and his goal helps as well.
04:44So, you know, please, it's good for Hayden because it gets him seen a bit more, getting
04:49a touch of the Premier League.
04:50Sometimes you just have to wait your moments until you get your chances and do something
04:55and you've done something tonight.
04:57Okay, thanks.
04:59Thanks all.
