00:00Yeah, hi David. Do you feel like you shut yourselves in the foot today?
00:15Yeah, no, look, they were much better than us. Played better and much more physical,
00:24much more experienced than we are. I can see that Newcastle are learning from their Champions
00:29League games and when they have to defend, they're hard to play against and really quick
00:35on the counter-attack and we were beaten by the better team, there's no doubt about that.
00:43Do you feel that the defensive side of the game, saying the individual errors that you made,
00:47just made your job impossible?
00:49You give away a corner, you can lose a corner, most teams, that can happen to MD at times,
00:54but the second and third goals were really poor goals, we dealt with them a lot better.
01:00We actually played pretty well with the ball, for long periods we were probably the better team with the ball, no doubt about that.
01:06The bigger thing was how quickly they broke, how fast they broke, and every time we sort of risked the ball
01:15or gave the ball away, they were quick to try and get us on us and they got onto our back line too quick
01:21and I reckon it causes problems, we couldn't stop it.
01:33Hi David, how concerned were you with how the midfield struggle without Idris?
01:38We felt like a big miss in there today.
01:40It could be that, but it could have also been the quality of Newcastle United.
01:44You mustn't underestimate, you know, we're, you know, these are Champions League team, you know,
01:50we're coming here and MD turned up and thought that this was going to be a given for us
01:55and I know they haven't won away from home, but they probably had a different feeling losing to Marseille
01:59in midweek, we had a different feeling, we beat Manchester United away from home.
02:03We go into it, they go into it knowing that they're making sure that they're going to try and get something out of the game.
02:08They got off to a great start, we didn't, we got off to a terrible start.
02:14Something really to sort of hang on to as well.
02:24David, you mentioned the quality of Newcastle, they've had some really good nights this season,
02:28obviously Monday being one of them.
02:30Was this just kind of a night where it just shows how difficult it is to make progress quickly in the Premier League?
02:35Yeah, I mean, I think, I mean, I'm not getting into Newcastle, but I'm just thinking, you know,
02:39what they've got and what they've had, the time it's taking them to get to the team as well.
02:47From our point of view, we need to build up.
02:49We're still, we're still, we're still picking up really good results.
02:52You know, we're competitive, I mean, if we'd won tonight, I don't know where we'd have gone in the league,
02:57but it might have been in a pretty healthy position.
02:59So we're not, we're not a million miles off it, but down when it comes down to individual games,
03:05you know, we might not have enough.
03:06I mean, we beat Newcastle at St James' Park when they had to win to beat us to qualify for the Champions.
03:11As it was, it was other teams which sort of got it.
03:14So we can go and beat them, but tonight they were far too powerful for us.
03:18Too strong.
03:19Maybe the strongest, maybe the most powerful team in the Premier League, Newcastle.
03:23Maybe, maybe Arsenal might, might sway them on that.
03:27But, strong team, big, every player, big, physical, hard to play against.
03:33David, I was just, it was just similar to yours.
03:36Is that going to be the biggest struggle this season, finding that consistency and run of results and performances, do you think?
03:42Well, one and two in the last two, it might be consistency this year in the Premier League.
03:46Because if you look at the way the games are going, it's hard to win two in a row, never mind three in a row that we're trying to do tonight.
03:53I guess Newcastle found it really difficult away from home most of the season up to now.
03:57We've done quite well here in the stadium.
04:00But yeah, consistency is always going to be important, so we have to try and keep picking up the points.
04:07But no, there's a level of teams which we'll try and always be competitive against.
04:12Tonight we weren't competitive.
04:14And I didn't feel we were competitive enough because we've probably outdone us physically tonight.
04:20I thought with the ball, I thought with the ball tonight we were certainly competitive with the ball.
04:25And probably, I don't know what the stats would say, probably more possession.
04:28It doesn't count for anything if you don't defend corners or you can't score for them.
04:33Is that the biggest frustration? Because after the first goal you did respond quite well, but you just didn't maybe test the keeper as much?
04:40No, we probably didn't have many clear-cut opportunities.
04:43But let's be fair, we've done a lot of good things and we looked as if we were threatened.
04:49But at the moments when we gave the ball away, then they got onto our back four too quickly again.
04:54It caused us problems.
04:57Just the first goal, can sometimes you have to take your hat off to a good corner and head it or is there anything you can do?
05:06I agree, sometimes you do.
05:08I mean obviously we're gutted that we lost it but it was a great delivery and the boy jumped high enough and well enough and redirected the header to get the start.
05:19So, it was a poor sort of start of the play from us. We shouldn't have allowed them to.
05:26I made a turn to Kino and the ball was slid in past Mikko and Alanga and the goalkeeper makes a good save.
05:32So, within the first 30 seconds or so we were on the back foot and that shouldn't have been the case.
05:39Okay, folks.
05:40Cheers.
05:42Cheers.
05:43Cheers.
05:44Cheers.
