00:00Hi I'm Kelly and this is my roommate Cheyenne and this is our temporary third roommate and foster
00:05puppy call. Welcome to our sweet digs. Come on in. We live in a two-bedroom loft in the Lower
00:10East
00:11Side. Our rent is $32.95 so we split it in half and each pay a little bit over $1
00:16,600. If you're
00:17not from Manhattan that probably sounds like way too much but if you live in Manhattan you know
00:21that it's really hard to find two bedrooms for much less than that. This apartment is 1,086
00:26square feet. It's a renovated schoolhouse so each apartment in this building is a loft and it
00:31comes with a gym, a pool, laundry downstairs, and two private courtyards. This is our kitchen. We're
00:39big pasta people so a lot of times I'll cook chickpea pasta, black bean pasta. I make stuffed shells in
00:46the oven a lot. What else do I make like? Turkey burger. Coffee. She drinks coffee which I don't drink
00:55and really don't understand so already the fact that she has three cups a day is just like too
00:59much for me. Minimum. But in addition to that she leaves every single mug and glass that she could
01:04ever drink coffee out of on every surface in the apartment. This marble is actually all a giant
01:10adhesive sticker. It probably costs like less than 50 bucks on Amazon. You just got rolls of contact
01:15paper and we spread it out here to make it look like we have marble countertops. The stools originally
01:20have just wood tops but we wanted them to match a little bit better with the apartment aesthetic so we
01:25just
01:25bought white rugs from Ikea and made DIY steel cushions. And then this is living area. One of
01:31our favorite parts of the apartment is just these huge almost floor-to-ceiling windows. This is my
01:36favorite piece of furniture going along with the marble theme and then the gold. It's a really unique
01:40shape so it really adds some character to our apartment. It was around $500 from Wayfair. We've
01:45been fostering puppies for about a year and a half now. This is Call. Call Drogo is his full name.
01:51If you
01:51watch Game of Thrones you'll get that. Kelly does not so she calls him cow, cauliflower. He just lives
01:56with us until he's adopted as opposed to living in a shelter. We foster through different groups like
02:01Animal Lighthouse, Social Teas and Muddy Paws. We have a puppy roughly once a month and they usually get
02:08adopted pretty quickly. It's a really great way to have a dog without really committing to having a dog
02:12because in the city it's really hard. And then this is the dining area. Personally I think it's my favorite
02:17part of the apartment just because it's really simple and mostly because of this table. It's my
02:21favorite piece of furniture that we got. It's also the most expensive. It was about $800 from West Elm.
02:27And then this canvas is another DIY piece. We found one that we liked that we saw online and instead
02:32of
02:32buying it we just recreated it with spray paint and tape. And here's our half bathroom. This one we used
02:38to get ready in because we have more mirror space. Here we have a Prada sign. We were obsessed with
02:43Gossip
02:43Girl. One of the main characters had it in her apartment so instead of spending hundreds of
02:48dollars on it Cheyenne just painted it so it looks the same. And this is our second bathroom, the full
02:55one with the shower. We also did more of the marble DIY stuff in here similar to how we did
02:59our kitchen
02:59countertops. This is all just like an adhesive sticker to make it look like marble tiles and same
03:04with the bathroom countertop. This is the entryway to the second floor of the apartment where both of
03:09our bedrooms are. We put adhesive banana leaf wallpaper up and then a neon sign on top of that
03:14that says stay while. The one downside of lofts is that neither of us have a full four walls for
03:20our
03:20bedrooms so we don't have doors and there's a lot of blank walls so we can hear each other really
03:25easily and I think for a lot of people that might be a deal breaker but our first apartment we
03:29actually shared a one bedroom in the Upper East Side and we had bunk beds before moving here so to
03:34us
03:34this is a lot of privacy. It could kind of be a potential issue if you're dating someone or whatnot
03:39but just always give each other a heads up when we have people over. Is this a good time to
03:43tell
03:43you that I have a date tonight and I'm probably having someone stay here? This is my bedroom right
03:49here. I really centered the decor around my cowhide rug and the bed frame so I'm really into neutral
03:57colors with hints of pink from separate rooms. Usually every night when we're both in bed we
04:04talk to each other. Shy? Shy? Shy? Still here Kelly. She will do that when I'm sleeping really early in
04:11the morning when I get home really late I think she's just like checking that I'm there because
04:14she can't see me like she used to in the bunk beds. Here if I want to get to my
04:18clothes in the back I
04:19kind of have to like scooch down or crawl the back but we kind of made it easy to access
04:26everything.
04:27And then my bedroom's on this side. I would describe my bedroom as pretty soft in terms of like the
04:32color
04:32palette and then I really just tried to keep furniture to a minimum. Hi! In the next apartment
04:37like the one change I would want for a bedroom is obviously real walls with a door that can close.
04:42Um no offense Kelly. No! Cheyenne is definitely the messier roommate. My room gets messy with my clothes
04:49but Kelly leaves things over every other part of the apartment outside of her bedroom which I don't do.
04:54And she also chews loud. Kelly just has like a weird phobia of anyone chewing. I sound like a freak.
04:59Cheyenne and I met in college. We both went to school in Maryland and we met through an internship.
05:06I kind of hated Kelly at first because she showed up really late our first day because she didn't
05:10have a car. Our new boss just offered me to start driving Kelly to the internship every day so I
05:15had
05:15to go out of my way to her school and pick her up but we obviously became really close through
05:19all those
05:20car rides. I think we work really well together as roommates because we also became really close
05:24friends. No best friends. Start over. We work really well together as roommates because we also
05:29became best friends. We started out as roommates and then like had a great time together as roommates
05:34and became friends as opposed to trying to live with your best friend. I think we really balance
05:38each other out. We both have independent schedules but always hang out and have mutual groups of friends.
05:45All in all we really love the apartment. Kelly loves it so much that she jokes that when we get
05:49married
05:49our husbands are just gonna buy a second apartment in this same building because she never wants to leave.
05:55the next couple of times will be asked.
05:56Later We will be looking at the house where we get married.
05:57We are on our website. I'm kung fu.
05:57We are on our website. I.
05:58We're going to call it by the 2nd heart.
05:59And we are on our website.
05:59We are on our website.
