00:07Yo, check, yo, it's a process making music that's not nonsense, Rory told me keep it awkward and just watch
00:13the movement prosper, give a fuck about the sponsors, we just trying to body conscious and cock to the fucking
00:19glow, man don't act like you ain't know, word to mellow the whole team about to glow, explosive like we
00:24about to blow, but steady patient just waiting to fucking detonate, you peep the score for lemonade, man we ain't
00:29even
00:29celebrating, never stop working, cause it flows like it's heavy, weird music, how'd it be?
00:34What the fuck?
00:44Yo, sound check, sound check, boy, the rope, next gen to the fucking building, yo, my name is Todd Basin,
00:51bro, next gen from Brooklyn, you can fly, push?
01:10Yo, I'm Todd Basin from next gen, I'm 17 years old and I've been making music since forever, yeah
01:21I'm a child of immigrants, my family's from Jamaica, my mom and my dad, my dad was never around so
01:28my mom was like always on top of me
01:29playing like both roles and just like there's a certain like work ethic that you get not being from America
01:36with my mom, my grandma was like always like oh achieving the American dream, working a nine-to-five, doing
01:40like all that stuff that would like make you stable
01:42but I think me actually being born in America, I saw that like a part of the opportunity is like
01:48I don't know, following your own dream and having the privilege to do whatever you'd like to do
01:52I used to like um look up people in my neighborhood who used to influence me because I was tired
01:57of like what I was hearing on the radio
01:58and so like Mellow X, Joey Badass groups like Take A Day Trip were always people that I've like stumbled
02:04across
02:05and I've been like I mean when it came to Joey like my cousin went to high school with him
02:10so that's how I got put on and my cousin was pro-era for a little bit
02:12so like I was always like tailing around them back in the day, back in the days and like a
02:18couple years ago
02:19when it came to Mellow I usually email him non-stop asking him for advice and stuff like that
02:24I used to send him music, it was trash obviously and he saw my persistence and one day he was
02:29like send more
02:30in 24 hours so I had to make a song in 24 hours and send it to him and then
02:33we kept working and then one day we linked up
02:35like if you want something, speak it into existence
02:37I used to like tell myself I've worked with these people, this is four years ago before they know who
02:40I am
02:40the other day I was like with Denzel in Soho, he has a studio across the street from V-Files
02:44and he was able to pull up an email that I sent him like three years ago
02:47and he was like wow it's crazy how the universe makes things out
02:51yeah yeah yeah yeah
02:52cut it up, tip it up
02:53just runnin' in a way
02:55yeah he said to contemplate
02:57when I took time off to step out my face
02:58to me it just my place with so much hatred situations
03:01and the universe alone having caught invasors
03:03on a daily basis, feeling this crazy
03:04changes the code being awful, faces man
03:06shit get dangerous
03:08lack of motivation puts on me different expectations I can't take it
03:11get right, though the levels I'ma take it too
03:15and I barely see my friends because I'm grinding on my team
03:17and as a pretentious it just isn't how it seems
03:20man I'm scared
03:22because a lot of music opportunities started coming up for me
03:24I have to leave school early, skip certain classes
03:26not being able to hang out, missing study groups
03:28and all that type of stuff
03:29and my friends would think that I was bailing on them to do something better
03:32I mean like music is better but it sucks
03:34like not having your support system there all the time
03:36and so basically I said that line for them
03:38to like hear it in the song and be like oh snap
03:39like he really wasn't an asshole, he was doing all this extra stuff
03:42to like help better his future, you know
03:44being really fortunate in my community
03:46I was able to go to private school
03:47because my mom worked two jobs
03:49because she just didn't, she wanted me to have a life that she didn't get to have
03:52I used to like go to the UN every weekend
03:55I used to want to become like a United Nations ambassador
03:57and not like have a SoundCloud and rap
03:59it exposed me to like a stance of like
04:01if you have a platform to help your community
04:03I learned that I didn't have to become a politician to like influence people
04:06like you see how people rather listen to like
04:08Kanye West and Barack Obama
04:10like imagine if Kanye uses like
04:12his platform to do something powerful for you
04:14people like Bob Marley, how like
04:17you see like how he's not here
04:18but like his music still resonates afterwards
04:20like longevity is something that
04:23that I've been striving towards
04:25you know, because words have power
04:26so you might as well say something powerful
04:27like your music could bump and you could turn up
04:29but all that shit is temporary you feel me like
04:31alright it's supposed to be a reflection of the times that you're living in now
04:34and that's something that like my team and I strive towards
