00:00Hi guys, I'm Lexi. I'm hanging out here in LA with a woman who needs no
00:05introduction. We'll introduce me anyway just in case though. It is the Kerry
00:10Washington. Hi everybody. We're here for a very important Neutrogena launch that
00:18we're gonna get to in a second. But first we're here to talk all things beauty.
00:22When you first came on to represent Neutrogena there wasn't a foundation
00:25shade that matched your complexion. That is true. And now there is. Yes. What are the
00:29plans to further expand the foundation range so it can suit more women? When I
00:33first joined the company Neutrogena was really invested in growing the foundation
00:38line and growing the cosmetics line in general. But also continuing to grow the
00:43line to be more inclusive is a priority for the company and for me. How does
00:47beauty make you feel empowered? The key to the link between beauty and empowerment
00:51is to always remember that beauty is something that you have. It's not
00:55something that you have to get. It's not something that somebody gives you. Not
00:58even Neutrogena. Beauty is yours. You're born beautiful. And so the key is to finding
01:03people and products and elements in your life that help you feel in touch with
01:09that beauty. That make you remember that truth of who you are. What is the best
01:13thing that you did for your skin when you were younger that you're so glad that
01:17you did today? Well I have to say I've always used Sunblock and there's a lot of
01:22kind of misconceptions in communities of color of black people and Latino
01:26people that you don't have to use Sunblock if you're a person of color and
01:29that is not true. It's super important. During awards season your fans got to see
01:33with your natural texture on a few different red carpets. What inspired this?
01:38What was the reaction and is it a preview of more to come? Yeah I mean I feel like
01:43having textured hair is really so fun because there's nothing that our hair
01:48can't do. Like it can be curly, it can be straight, it can be big, it can be flat and
01:53I think a lot of times we sort of buy
01:56into this idea that we have to look a certain way to be considered beautiful and
01:59I think anytime I can kind of expand what the definition of my own beauty means to
02:05me I feel more comfortable in the world. So you seem very very very close to your
02:09glam squad. Yes I am. They're friends. They're not just glam squad. They're my sisters.
02:15Do you ever hit up your hairstylist Takesha's Durdevant Drew for after hours
02:19advice and what do you text her? Because we're friends yeah we wind up sending hair
02:24picture inspirations at like 3 in the morning depending on where in the world
02:28we are. We're always communicating about what we love and looks we like and kind
02:32of what other folks are doing that we find inspiring. What about your longtime
02:36makeup artist Carola Gonzalez? Do you do the same thing with her? We have a lot of
02:40fun because we work but we play. So we also have a little surprise today which is
02:43that Carola Gonzalez is here and she's going to pop in and show us how Carrie
02:47gets her two-tone lip look that she wears in the red carpet all the time. This is
02:51Corolla care longtime makeup artist. So one of my favorites is this shade
02:57because it's a very good neutral for everyday use. Every single person can wear this color.
03:01It complements all skin tones and it's actually the one that she's wearing right
03:05now. Are you wearing it too? Yes. Yeah so we're both wearing it. You can blend them
03:10really well so we don't even have to take this off to show you how you can pop a
03:14daytime color into a more evening look. Cool. You just take the other lip color and add a
03:20little more pop. I'm going to keep it a little bit more sheer because it's day
03:25time. See how pretty? Two colors you can do it at home although Carola is not
03:30included but you can figure it out. Awesome. Thank you so much for hanging out with us today.
03:34Thank you for having us. Yay. So good to see you. Yeah you too.
03:38All right thanks guys so much. We'll see you later.
