00:05Hi, this is Jenny from iSpyDIY here today with Refinery29 making a statement necklace
00:10inspired by the Pruenza runway.
00:12The amazing thing about this project is that you can get many of the supplies from your
00:17local hardware store and it's such a bold piece that you can jazz up any basic outfits.
00:23What you'll need for this is rope, stones, embroidery floss, needle, crazy glue, carabiner
00:32and tape.
00:33First step is to lay out your rope to determine the shape of your necklace.
00:37We're going to do a three-tiered necklace starting with the blue rope.
00:42This is going to be your middle piece.
00:45Next we're going to use this black and white rope for the bottom piece and then the black
00:53and white rope again for the top tier.
00:56For the next step we're going to take our white embroidery thread and wrap it around our top
01:02tier.
01:04So for this step about a quarter of the way down tie a double knot.
01:14And then we're going to use a technique that I used to use for friendship bracelets is that
01:22you make a knot around the rope.
01:33And you keep knotting and it will create a stair pattern.
01:42Continue knotting for about a half an inch and then we're going to add our first stone.
01:47And how you do this, it has a hole in the middle so you just thread it through the rock
01:53and
01:55then you bring it up to the top and then all you do is continue with your knotting.
02:07And there will be a string in the back but this will be the back of your necklace so you
02:11won't see.
02:17We have our first stone on and you just keep on knotting and add two more.
02:22And if you want to add a little bit of super glue at the end when you tie it off
02:26to secure
02:26the knots, it keeps it from unraveling.
02:29So your first tier should look like this.
02:32Repeat the same process on the third tier.
02:35And your necklace will look a little something like this.
02:39And then next we're going to add the blue rope and that should go right in the center.
02:44And then we're going to connect all three using your yellow embroidery floss and your needle.
02:55So thread the floss through the needle and then we're going to take all three pieces together
03:08and put the needle through them.
03:13And then we're going to wrap the yellow embroidery floss around all three pieces of rope to cover
03:23up the ends.
03:24And make sure to put tape whenever you cut the end of rope to make sure it doesn't fray.
03:32After you've covered all the rope, knot your yellow string and you can dab super glue at
03:41the end of this knot too to secure it.
03:44To finish up the necklace we're going to create two loops at the end and we're going to do the
03:49same process of wrapping the yellow rope around to fasten it.
03:54So you take your yellow needle and thread and you go through the ends.
04:03And then we wrap and knot.
04:06After you finish your two loops, connect them with the carabiner.
04:10And then you have your Pruenza inspired necklace for a fraction of the cost.
04:16Thanks so much and we'll see you next time.
