00:03Hi, my name is Michelle Corsi.
00:05I'm here today with Hannah to talk to you about all the essential makeup brushes that
00:08every girl should have and to give you some tips on how to use them.
00:12So these are the seven brushes that I'm using today.
00:14The first brush is the MAC 138 brush.
00:16The second brush is Stila number 33 brush.
00:20The third brush is the NARS Kabuki blush brush.
00:23The fourth brush is the MAC 217 brush.
00:26The fifth brush is the MAC 212 brush.
00:31The sixth brush is the Kevin Aucoin small eyeshadow slash eyebrow brush.
00:36And last is the lip brush, the Cosette P325.
00:41First things first, you need a foundation and a concealer brush.
00:44Generally when you deal with foundation and concealer, you want a synthetic bristle or
00:48any kind of creamy product.
00:50I really like this one by Stila, the number 33, because it has this like dome pointy shape
00:54and that really helps you get into the crevices between the nose and under the eyes.
00:59And also it has a little concealer brush on the other side, so it's a two-in-one.
01:03When you apply things using a foundation brush, you just want to put a tiny little bit generally
01:08in the back of your hand, smooth it out, and then start smoothing over the face.
01:13Start in the center of the face.
01:15Work your way out.
01:17And just work it into the skin.
01:20Start with a little and then build up to a lot.
01:22Don't slap a whole lot on.
01:24The whole idea behind a foundation brush is to really just be able to work it into the
01:27skin little bit by little bit.
01:30And don't be afraid to kind of pat things in with your fingers as well.
01:33Fingers are, at the end of the day, the ultimate beauty tool.
01:39For our next brush, we have a bronzer slash powder brush.
01:42This is the MAC 138 brush.
01:44It has the same like dome shape like the foundation brush had, and it's also a natural bristle
01:49brush.
01:49Generally, when you're using powder and dry products, you want natural bristles.
01:53Next you need a really good blush brush.
01:55This one is by NARS.
01:57It's part of the Kabuki Collection, and it has this also really amazing shape.
02:00I really like to put quite a bit of product on the brush and then tap quite a bit of
02:04it away.
02:05Next brush is an eyeshadow brush.
02:07This is a MAC 217 brush, and it's a little bit fluffier than you might be used to.
02:11This is really great for blending out eye color because you don't want eye color to be too
02:15hard.
02:16And especially if you're doing a smokey eye, this is amazing for blending things out.
02:20I have three of these in my kit.
02:21I use it all the time.
02:22Try and start near the eyelid, and I kind of like to put the color up about to the crease.
02:27Just kind of work it into the eye socket.
02:30Just blend out the color a little bit at a time.
02:32Start with a little bit, and then gradually add more.
02:35Next up is the liner brush.
02:36This is the MAC 212 brush.
02:37It's great.
02:38It's a flat liner brush, which you might not have seen before.
02:40And it helps you get right up into the lash line, which creates the illusion of a thicker
02:44lashes, which is amazing, especially for everyday makeup.
02:47Next up we have the pencil brush.
02:49This is a Kevin Kwan brush.
02:50They call it the small eyeshadow slash eyebrow brush.
02:54I use it more to blend in the eyeliner.
02:56This is a great brush.
02:57I'm going to take a brown eyeshadow, you can use any color you want, and I'm just going
03:01to be getting right into the lash line.
03:03We're keeping this look pretty natural, so I'm not doing anything too dramatic, but if
03:07you wanted to, this is a great brush to really just smoke things out.
03:12It's pretty subtle here.
03:14It makes a little bit more of a difference if you're doing a smokier eye or a stronger
03:17color.
03:18It just helps give the illusion of a thicker lash line.
03:21For our last brush, we have the Cosette lip brush.
03:23This is the P235, it has a great shape, this kind of oval shape, and it has just enough
03:28give to it.
03:29When you're doing a lip, you don't want a brush that's too stiff or too soft, especially if
03:33you're going for that really fine line, if you're doing a really gorgeous red lip or anything
03:36like that.
03:36On Hannah right now, we're going to be doing more of just a pinky lip, but it's pretty
03:41bright.
03:42So these are my recommendations for the seven makeup brushes that every girl should have.
