A major political clash has erupted following the results of the MLC elections held across 28 seats using paper ballots. The Congress Party faced a significant electoral setback, managing to secure only a single seat in Nagpur, while the Samajwadi Party won five seats in Uttar Pradesh, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency of Varanasi. The Bharatiya Janata Party took swipes at the opposition over the poor performance, noting that the elections were conducted via ballot papers rather than Electronic Voting Machines, an electoral reform long demanded by Congress. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah criticised the party's performance, while Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge countered by stating that electoral losses do not signify an eroded support base. Kharge reiterated the demand for ballot voting and challenged the ruling party to dissolve Parliament and conduct fresh nationwide elections using ballot papers.

00:06Congress managed to win just a single seat out of the 28 MLC seats.
00:11And now there's politics that's brewing on this matter with the BJP now taking a jibe at the Congress Party
00:17because it is important to note that these elections were held using ballot papers.
00:22The same ballot papers which the Congress Party has been advocating for.
00:25The Congress Party has been demanding that the elections should be held using ballot papers and not EVMs.
00:31And in these MLC polls, it was the ballot paper which was used and still the Congress Party managed to
00:35win just a single seat.
00:37And that was in Nagpur.
00:39And now the BJP is questioning that be it EVM or ballot paper, the public has rejected Congress Party in
00:47every poll.
00:48And now after that, now Congress President Malik Arjun Kharge has reiterated that the demand for ballot papers would continue
00:55Despite the BJP's electoral victories, pointing out that the BJP had once won just two Lok Sabha seats,
01:02Kharge said electoral losses do not mean a party has lost its support base.
01:06He challenged the BJP to dissolve the parliament and hold fresh elections using ballot papers if it was so confident
01:13of victory.
01:14All this comes amid the BJP's fresh salvo against the Congress over its vote theft allegations.

01:38resign now.

01:43Akhilesh Yadav's party has won five seats in Uttar Pradesh, where a total of 11 MLC seats were there,

05:09That is, by the way, the people of Hindustan are always looking forward to the bullet paper.
05:16The results of the bullet paper are always going to be a vipaksh.
05:24This means that the vipaksh is the meaning of the vipaksh,
05:28that you are living in the messagerie,
05:29that you are living in the messagerie,
05:33that you are living in the messagerie,
05:34and that you are living in the messagerie,
05:39that you are living in the messagerie,
05:42that you are living in the bullet paper.
05:46And my colleague Aishwarya Paliwal is now joining us on the story.
05:50Aishwarya amid the vote-tory campaign which is being led by the Congress party
05:53and in an election which was held using ballot papers,
05:57now Congress party has shown a very poor performance,
06:00winning just one seat out of the 28.
06:02Has this given a fresh ammunition ahead of the Ramlila Maidan protest to the PJP?
06:09Well, definitely, you know, we are seeing how it's Rahul Gandhi
06:12who is making videos after videos appealing to people
06:15and telling them that you do not need to fear the police,
06:17you do not need to fear the administration.
06:19This is a protest, this is a march to save India as a country.
06:23So on one side we are seeing these kind of appeals being made,
06:26but in the end what we are seeing is that it is the Bharatiya Janata party,
06:32the BJP, which in fact is saying that it's okay you want to protest,
06:36you know, you can.
06:37But what really matters is what happens when people go out and vote.
06:42And the reality is out of the 28 seats,
06:45only one has been secured by the Congress party,
06:48which tells you the reality.
06:49The BJP believes that this is just a small trailer.
06:52We have big five elections coming up.
06:55The BJP believes that in those elections they will be doing well
06:58and that in fact will tell the mood of the nation really,
07:02which side are the people leaning.
07:04They also believe that these kinds of protests are frivolous.
07:07The people are standing behind the Bharatiya Janata party
07:09and these results are nothing more,
07:11but just a little litmus test to prove what the BJP has been saying.
07:14Absolutely, Aishwarya.
07:15Thank you so much for joining us with that context.
07:17So the BJP is now mounting attack on the Congress party
07:20ahead of its mega vote chouri rally,
07:23asking that this time the elections were held using ballot papers.
07:27So why no victory?
07:28Why just single seat out of the 28?
07:30Why just single seat out of the 28?
