In the United States, Washington D.C. was the scene of a demonstration on Wednesday, marking one year since US president Donald Trump's election to a second term in office and celebrating the defeat of Republicans in several local elections in the past days. From the US capital, hundreds of people gathered by the Refuse Fascism platform demanding an end to what they described as the president's fascist regime, chanting slogans such as "Trump must go". The day also coincided with the anniversary of Trump's victory in the November 5, 2024 presidential election, a day that, according to those in attendance, was the result of all his lies. At the protest, criticism of anti-immigrant policies was the focus, emphasizing the harassment by the Trump administration and the raids carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
