09:32One of the greatest joys of my life is that my office is right next to my father's office

10:02I think we're all kind of over-chocolated right now

10:08Why are we coming to Hershey or this part of the country for the Overcomer Tour?
10:12Well, David, as you know, one of the ways that we decide where to go
10:14Is we try to find out where our listeners and viewers are
10:17And obviously, by the looks of things, we've got a few on here
10:24We wanted to come back here because we just have so many friends in this area
10:29I don't know if you guys know it or not
10:31But you live in a pretty good part of America
10:34And you really do
10:39Dad, last fall you introduced us to the world of Overcomer
10:43And you talked about eight ways to live a life of unstoppable strength, unmovable faith, and unbelievable power
10:50So why did you write Overcomer and why did you do it now?
10:54Well, I travel a lot
10:56I run into a lot of people
10:57I talk to a lot of Christians and a few who aren't Christians
11:01But among the church people that I've been with
11:04Including the people that I pastor at Shadow Mountain
11:07There are a lot of folks who are struggling right now
11:09Trying to figure out what to do in life
11:12And many of them are discouraged
11:14In fact, I often talk about the fact that I was talking with one person
11:19And I asked them how they were doing
11:20And they said they were doing all right under the circumstances
11:25And I said, what are you doing down there?
11:28You don't want to be under the circumstances
11:31And you know what the Lord Jesus said?
11:33The Lord Jesus put it in perspective
11:35He said, in the world you will have tribulation
11:38But be of good cheer
11:39For I have overcome the world
11:42Amen
11:46So Dad, we live in a confused society
11:49There's lots of confusion
11:51And lots of things vying for our attention today
11:54So how can we as believers
11:57Overcome confusion with wisdom?
11:59Well, I don't think there's ever been a time
12:02At least that I can remember in my life
12:04When wisdom has been more critical
12:06Because you know what wisdom is?
12:08Wisdom is doing the right thing without a precedent
12:12Sometimes we do right things
12:14Simply because we've studied how other people have done them
12:17And we follow them
12:18And we end up in the right place
12:20But today, there's so many things
12:22That are happening in our lives
12:23That don't have any precedent
12:24I mean, what's going on in our country today
12:27Is unprecedented
12:28And the people who are trying to lead our country
12:30Christians who are involved in ministry in our country
12:33They all say the same thing
12:35We have to trust God to show us
12:37Because there's no pattern
12:39There's no
12:39Nobody's left a trail for what's going on right now
12:42Someone once told me that wisdom
12:44Is knowledge using its head
12:47And when you know some things
12:49That's okay
12:50But wisdom is taking what you know
12:52And applying it to what goes on in your life
12:55And making good decisions
12:56I always love what James tells us
12:59That if any man lacks wisdom
13:01He can ask of God
13:02Who will give to all men liberally
13:05And he won't scold you for coming
13:06That's literally what the Scripture says
13:09I've often counted on that verse
13:12Because there's so many days in my life
13:14When I see things happening
13:15That I've never seen before
13:17Issues that have never come up before
13:20Relational problems that have never come up before
13:23And I've just had to go and say
13:24Lord, I don't know what to do
13:26But my eyes are on you
13:27And I know that you can help me sort this out
13:30That's how you overcome with wisdom
13:32Amen
13:33We could all use more of that
13:35Yes, we could
13:37So, there's all this confusion
13:39And all the things that we're talking about
13:41And things that we don't understand
13:43Are these signs that are showing us
13:46That the end times are near?
13:48Well, you know, I'm not a prophet
13:50Nor the son of the prophet
13:51Though I do have a prophet's name
13:56But the thing that I notice in the Bible
13:59Is the Bible describes
14:00That the time before the Lord returns
14:03Is going to be a time when things are churning
14:05I think that's a good term
14:07For what's going on
14:08Things are just churning
14:10Every day you get up
14:11And nothing ever gets seemed resolved
14:14It just, it churns into something else
14:16And before you know it
14:17You're dealing with another subject
14:19The Bible says that
14:20Before the Lord comes back
14:21Men's hearts will be failing them for fear
14:25And there are a lot of people
14:26That are afraid today
14:27Because they can't see their way past
14:29Where we are
14:30And I believe that we're living in the time
14:33That the Lord predicted would happen
14:35Before all of the end time things began
14:38I've told people historically
14:40I still believe it
14:41That I'm going to be alive
14:42When Jesus comes back
14:46I'm not looking for the undertaker
14:49I'm looking for the upper taker
14:50Amen
14:50Yeah
14:54With all this talk of prophecy and all that
14:57I don't know if people know
14:58That you've got 43 messages
15:00On the book of Revelation
15:0134 messages on the book of Daniel
15:03Some people may say
15:05You know
15:06You're talking too much about prophecy
15:08You need to do some other things
15:10Once in a while
15:11Or something like that
15:11Well, you know
15:12I don't preach on prophecy all the time
15:13I just preach on it
15:15Like it comes in the scripture
15:16I have preached on it
15:17Probably more than many do
15:20I believe that the prophetic word is important
15:23It's more than a fourth of the whole Bible
15:25So if you say you're not going to preach on prophecy
15:27You've just cut a quarter of the Bible out
15:29And pushed it
15:30Some of my pastor friends say
15:32Jeremiah, I don't preach on that stuff
15:34It's not relevant
15:35And I say, well, hang on
15:37It's getting more relevant all the time
15:38You know
15:40But the Bible is God's gift to us
15:43And the prophetic word is very important
15:45Because God wants us to see the future
15:49Through His eyes
15:50He wants us to be ready for the things that happen
15:52And when we know what God has planned for us
15:56Who know Him
15:56It's not frightening
15:58It's just thrilling
15:59It's really great to know
16:01That God has such a wonderful plan for His own
16:04And that He's one day going to do the right thing
16:07As to what's wrong with this world
16:09When you read that in the scripture
16:11And you get invested in it
16:12You can see it's all wonderfully planned
16:15It's organized
16:16It's pretty cool
16:18Yeah, amen
16:18So how does the age of signs and overcomer intersect at this point?
16:24Well, he asked the question
16:25How does being an overcomer intersect with the signs?
16:29And I like to answer that question like this
16:31How do you know
16:32If you know where you're going
16:34Makes the journey a lot more fun
16:36You know
16:36If you know what God has planned for you
16:38You can get up every day
16:40And maybe things aren't going so well for you right now
16:42But you don't worry too much about that
16:44Because according to the old song
16:46This world's not your home
16:47You're just passing through, right?
16:49So if you know what God has planned for you
16:52In the future
16:53You can live every day victoriously
16:55No matter what's going on
16:56Because I want to tell you something
16:58If you look into heaven today
16:59The throne of God is occupied
17:03He's sitting on the throne
17:04And He's in control
17:07Amen
17:09For everybody here
17:10If they walked away
17:11And they just took one thing home with them tonight
17:13From you
17:14What would you want that to be?
17:15Well, we know from the scripture
17:16Men and women
17:17That God has called us
17:20Not to be downtrodden
17:24Not to be sad
17:25I mean
17:27Sometimes when you get around Christians
17:29You know
17:30You ask them if they're okay
17:31And they say yes
17:32And you want to say
17:33You need to tell your face
17:37A lot of times
17:38You know
17:39Christians can be pretty sour
17:41Have you noticed that?
17:43I try to be happy
17:44And have a lot of fun along the way
17:46Because I believe
17:46That's what God wants us to do
17:48But I really believe
17:50That when we know
17:51That God has planned for us
17:53The future
17:54We can be overcomers
17:56And what I hope will happen tonight is
17:58When you leave here tonight
18:00You'll be standing a little taller
18:01Your shoulders back a little bit more
18:03Not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ
18:06For it is the power of God
18:08And the salvation
18:08That you will walk out of here victorious

19:47Last year a woman named
19:48Flora Lunsford
19:49In Pine Bluff, Arkansas
19:52Pulled into a convenience store
19:54And ducked in
19:55Leaving her purse
19:56Inside of her locked car
19:59When she came out
20:00She realized a thief
20:01Had broken into her car
20:02And stolen her purse
20:05The police came
20:06But the thief got away
20:09Now Flora works as a waitress
20:11At a cafe about two blocks
20:12From the convenience store
20:13And two days later
20:15She waited on a man
20:16Who ordered and ate his meal
20:18And when she gave him the bill
20:21He handed her a credit card
20:22When she looked at it
20:24Her name was printed
20:26On the credit card
20:28It was her credit card
20:29And he was the thief
20:31Not having any desire
20:32To pay for his meal
20:33She called the police
20:34Who quickly showed up
20:35And arrested the man
20:36And then they found
20:37All of her other possessions
20:39Including her driver's license
20:40In his car
20:41With her picture on it
20:45Not a very smart thing to do
20:48But before we chalk this up
20:50To another dumb criminal incident
20:52Let me suggest
20:53That this story
20:54Is the story
20:56Of millions of people today
20:58For the Bible warns
20:59There is coming
21:00A day of judgment
21:01And we don't hear many sermons
21:03On that subject anymore
21:05I remember growing up
21:06My father was a preacher
21:08And we'd have evangelists come
21:09And they'd preach
21:10On the judgment of Christ
21:11The judgment of God
21:13And people would just come forward
21:15In tears shaking
21:16In repentance
21:17We've almost forgotten
21:19What that's all about
21:20In our churches
21:20We always try to be so positive
21:22We don't want to ever
21:24Say anything negative
21:25But the prophets
21:26Of the Old Testament
21:27Wouldn't have done their jobs
21:29If they hadn't warned Israel
21:30Of the judgment
21:31That was to come
21:32And Paul warned
21:34In Romans 2, 5
21:35That those without Christ
21:36Are treasuring up
21:38For themselves wrath
21:40In the day of wrath
21:41And revelation
21:41Of the righteous judgment
21:43Of God
21:43The most dramatic moment
21:46In antiquity
21:47When God judged
21:48An entire world
21:49Occurred as it's recorded
21:51In Genesis chapter 6 through 9
21:54In the account
21:55Of Noah's flood
21:58This is one of the most
21:59Famous stories in the Bible
22:01And I find it really interesting
22:03That many parents
22:04Tell this story
22:05To their children
22:07Perhaps because of the animals
22:09Going into the ark
22:10Two by two
22:11Has a certain childless charm
22:13About it
22:14You can go to toy stores
22:16And find play sets
22:17Of Noah's ark
22:18With all the animals
22:19Many daycare centers
22:21Have titles or symbols
22:22About Noah's ark
22:24I've passed day centers
22:25Called Noah's ark
22:27The Noah's ark preschool
22:29And around the world
22:31There are examples
22:31Of people who have
22:32Actually replicated
22:34Noah's ark
22:34Including our friends
22:36At the ark encounter
22:37In Kentucky
22:39So we have to ask ourselves
22:41This question
22:41How did the story
22:43Of the destruction
22:44Of the world
22:45And the drowning
22:46Of the human race
22:47Become so iconic
22:48And popular
22:51How did a story
22:52Of justice
22:53And annihilation
22:54Become such a favorite
22:56Bedtime story theme
22:58And Sunday school lesson
22:59In many of our churches
23:01Well the answer of course
23:03Is that the ark
23:04Is a symbol of hope
23:07And the story of Noah
23:08Is a story of a man
23:10Who walked with God
23:11And he was an overcomer
23:13He overcame the corruption
23:15Of the world
23:16In which he lived
23:17He was a loner
23:18But he was an overcomer
23:20And I want to tell you
23:21That story tonight briefly
23:23And draw the applications
23:24To our own lives today
23:26If you want to know
23:27What it's going to be like
23:28Before the Lord Jesus
23:29Comes back
23:30To take us home
23:31If you want to get ready
23:32For that moment
23:33When the sky is open
23:35And the trumpet sounds
23:37Here's what the Bible
23:38Says about that
23:39And we can go all the way
23:40Back to Genesis 6
23:41To find the answers
23:43The first thing
23:44That we notice
23:45Is that the world
23:46In which Noah lived
23:47Was a world
23:48That grieved God
23:49The first thing we see
23:51Is in Genesis 6 5
23:53Where we read
23:54That the Lord saw
23:55The wickedness of man
23:57Was great on the earth
23:59You don't have to make
24:00Too many assumptions
24:01To connect that
24:02To where we are
24:03The Lord had created
24:05The heavens and the earth
24:06Only five chapters earlier
24:08In the book of Genesis
24:08He had created
24:10An ideal environment
24:11For humanity
24:12A literal paradise
24:13Without fault
24:15Or failure
24:16Or sin
24:16Or suffering
24:17There was no death
24:20He created Adam and Eve
24:22To enjoy his fellowship
24:23To make them heirs of his love
24:25But when they rebelled
24:27And sinned against him
24:28Everything changed
24:29As you know
24:31Sin entered into
24:32The human bloodstream
24:33Like a deadly virus
24:34And things got worse
24:36And worse
24:37As the population
24:39Multiplied
24:39Until we find this verse
24:41That the wickedness of man
24:43Was great in the earth
24:46The Bible tells us
24:47Four things
24:48About the people
24:49Of Noah's day
24:49They have applications
24:51To our day as well
24:53First of all
24:54Their cravings
24:56Were unrestrained
24:59Genesis 6-5 says
25:00That the Lord saw
25:02That the wickedness of man
25:03Was great in the earth
25:05And that every intent
25:07Of the thoughts
25:08Of his heart
25:09Was only evil
25:12Continually
25:13Is there a worse verse
25:16In the Bible
25:17In the Bible
25:17Than that one
25:18Listen to it again
25:22Every intent
25:24Of the thoughts
25:27Of the heart

25:35What a statement
25:36Every thought

25:45You and I
25:46With certain needs
25:47And desires
25:47He made us
25:48To need food
25:49And other necessities

25:51And he made us
25:52Capable of enjoying
25:53These things
25:54We're not like
25:55Electric cars
25:56That have to plug
25:56Into some power source
25:58And stay there
25:59Sitting still
26:00While our energy
26:01Is restored
26:01God created food
26:03To give us fuel
26:04And sleep
26:05To give us rest
26:06But when our appetites
26:08And our desires
26:09Overtake our disciplines
26:11They enslave us
26:13And when we read
26:15This phrase
26:15That every intent
26:16Of the thoughts
26:17Of the human heart
26:18Was only evil
26:20Continually
26:20We know ourselves
26:22Well enough to know
26:23That includes
26:23The element
26:24Of rampant sexual sin
26:26This was an orgy
26:28In the days of Noah
26:31Our world today
26:33Is becoming
26:33More and more filled
26:34With this level
26:35Of lurid evil
26:36For living in an age
26:38In which cravings
26:39Are unrestrained
26:41I've been a preacher
26:42Now for almost 50 years
26:44And it's overwhelming
26:45To me
26:45How our culture
26:47Has changed
26:47In five decades
26:48Since I started preaching
26:51Every day
26:52You as a believer
26:53Have to fight
26:54For the purity
26:54Of your mind
26:55And the purity
26:55Of your soul
26:56You can't just
26:57Be casual about it
26:59You have to be
26:59Proactive about it
27:01Or you will be
27:02Caught up
27:03In the
27:04Unrestrained cravings
27:06Of our world
27:07The second thing
27:08We notice
27:08About the time
27:09Of Noah
27:09Was that their
27:10Corruption
27:10Was uncontrolled
27:11It says in verses
27:1311 and 12
27:14The earth was also
27:15Corrupt before God
27:17So God looked
27:18Upon the earth
27:19And indeed
27:19It was corrupt
27:20For all flesh
27:22Had corrupted
27:22Their way
27:23On the earth
27:25This speaks
27:26Of the breakdown
27:27Of ethics
27:27And morality
27:29At every level
27:31If you Google
27:32The word corrupt
27:33To see how the word
27:34Is used today
27:34By the news media
27:36You'll read about
27:37All kinds of corruption
27:38Or alleged scandals
27:39In political life
27:40In public life
27:41In every life
27:42Of society
27:43And none of this
27:44Escapes the eyes
27:45Of almighty God
27:46Because Hebrews
27:47Tells us
27:48That there is no
27:49Creature hidden
27:49From his sight
27:50But all things
27:51Are naked
27:52And open
27:52To the eyes
27:53Of him
27:54To whom we must
27:55Give an account
27:55God sees all this
27:57You know
27:57We may like
27:59To shut it off
28:00And we should
28:00I told some people
28:01The other night
28:02I've been kind of
28:03On a fast
28:03For television
28:04Just go on a fast
28:06And don't even
28:06Turn any of it on
28:07Because even if
28:08It's a good channel
28:09The good channels
28:10Are going to tell you
28:10About all the bad things
28:11That the bad channels
28:12Have already reported
28:14And you can't escape it
28:15Your just mind
28:16Gets overwhelmed
28:17With the evil
28:18And corruption
28:19Of our day
28:21Imagine the world
28:22Right now
28:23As God looks at it
28:25From heaven
28:28Their cravings
28:29Were unrestrained
28:30Their corruption
28:31Was uncontrolled
28:31And their cruelty
28:32Was unrelenting
28:33God sees all the cravings
28:36And corruption
28:36In the world
28:37And he sees
28:38Its unrelenting cruelty
28:39The earth was corrupt
28:41Before God
28:41And the earth
28:42Was filled
28:43With violence
28:45In verse 13
28:47The Lord said
28:48The end of all flesh
28:49Has come before me
28:50For the earth
28:51Is filled with violence
28:53Through them
28:54Makes perfect sense
28:56That when your cravings
28:58Are unrestrained
28:59And your corruption
29:00Is uncontrolled

29:07But I've also noticed
29:08That the themes
29:10And depictions
29:10Of brutality
29:11Have become more pronounced
29:12Even in our
29:13Entertainment choices
29:15Including television shows
29:17And video games
29:18And then of course
29:19Perhaps the cruelest
29:20Aspects of society
29:21Is the way we treat millions
29:23Of our preborn children
29:25We are living
29:26In a very harsh
29:27Coarse
29:28Violent world
29:30Very similar
29:31To the world
29:32Into which Noah
29:33Was born
29:35And then their carelessness
29:37Was undeniable
29:38This is one
29:39That kind of escapes
29:40Most people
29:41Because we have
29:42Misinterpreted a verse
29:43That leaves us
29:44With the wrong impression
29:45There was another element
29:47To human society
29:48In the days of Noah
29:49That shows up
29:50In the teachings of Jesus
29:51And that was carelessness
29:53Now I know you've read
29:55This verse from Matthew 24
29:56Where we read
29:57In the days before the flood
29:59They were eating
30:01And drinking
30:01And marrying
30:02And giving in marriage
30:03Until the day
30:04That Noah entered the ark
30:05And did not know
30:06Until the flood came
30:07And took them all away
30:10Now I remember
30:11Growing up
30:11Hearing preachers
30:12Preach on that
30:13And say how awful
30:14It was in Noah's day
30:15They were eating
30:16And drinking
30:17They were marrying
30:19And giving in marriage
30:20Like there's something wrong
30:22With eating and drinking
30:23And marrying
30:24And giving in marriage
30:25But the verse isn't there
30:27To tell us
30:28That those were some things
30:29That we shouldn't be doing
30:30There's absolutely nothing wrong
30:32With eating, drinking
30:33And getting married
30:35People were eating and drinking
30:37How awful
30:37Some people say
30:39No that's not what Jesus was saying
30:41He was pointing out
30:42How people did these things
30:44Without regard to God
30:46They went about their lives
30:48Without any spiritual point
30:49Of reference
30:50All these things
30:51I've described
30:52Were happening
30:52And what did the people
30:53Of Noah's day do
30:54Just kept doing
30:56What they always did
30:57They ate
30:57They drank
30:57They got married
30:58As if nothing was wrong
31:01They were careless
31:02And cavalier
31:03And they went about
31:04The issues of life
31:05Without regard
31:06For the message of God
31:07And men and women
31:09That's a generation
31:10That grieves God
31:11And that's pretty much
31:13The generation
31:13In which you and I
31:15Are living today
31:16The whole idea
31:17Of right and wrong
31:18As a part of the moral fabric
31:20Of our nation
31:21Is no longer
31:22A history fact
31:23There is no consensus
31:25Of right and wrong
31:26When I was growing up
31:27As a boy
31:28And even as a young man
31:29And even as a young preacher
31:30There was still a sense
31:32That while you might not
31:34Believe in God
31:35You respected others
31:36Who did
31:36While you might not
31:38Believe in this
31:38You would give people
31:39The credit
31:40That they were doing
31:41And they would say
31:42About somebody
31:42Now that's a good man
31:44Or that's a good woman
31:45That whole consensus
31:47Of right is gone
31:49Now there is no right
31:50Except whatever right
31:51You want to make it
31:52There's no truth
31:52Unless it's your truth
31:53Everybody does that
31:55Which is right
31:56In their own eyes
31:56And they not only do it
31:59They brag about doing it
32:01Just as in Noah's day
32:04There was this cavalier attitude
32:06As we see it today
32:07Isn't it interesting
32:08That so many evil things
32:10Go on in our world
32:11And nobody seems to care
32:14There's obviously nothing wrong
32:16With eating and drinking
32:18Nothing wrong with marrying
32:19And giving in marriage
32:20But that verse was to remind us
32:23How easy it is for us
32:24To become comfortable
32:25With what's wrong in our world
32:29The world that Noah was born into
32:32Was a world that grieves God
32:34Just as it grieves God
32:35To see what's happening
32:36I don't know how affected
32:37You are about this
32:38But this whole business
32:39That's just happened
32:40About the possibility
32:42Of killing babies
32:43After they've actually
32:44Exited the womb
32:45How could that be any worse
32:48How could God not look at that
32:49And say
32:50How can I allow this
32:51To happen any longer
32:53The day of judgment
32:54Surely must come
32:56When we're doing things
32:57Like that
32:58But how many people
32:59Talk about it
33:04So here's this world
33:06That grieves God
33:07And you may be thinking
33:07Yeah pastor
33:09That's the world I live in
33:10Man it's tough
33:10Nobody can live righteously
33:12In this world
33:13Oh yeah
33:14I want to tell you
33:15About one guy who did
33:17I want to tell you
33:18About the walk
33:18That pleases God
33:19In the midst of this
33:21Defilement
33:22And carelessness
33:22And cavalier attitude
33:24There was a man
33:25Who walked with God
33:27His name was Noah
33:28He and his family
33:29And we're introduced
33:30To him in Genesis 6-8
33:32With these words
33:33Noah found grace
33:35In the eyes of the Lord
33:38He was an overcomer
33:39He's one of the heroes
33:41Of the scripture
33:42He lived in the worst days
33:44Days so bad
33:45That God couldn't
33:46Take it any longer
33:47And he destroyed the world
33:49As it was with the flood
33:50In the midst of that culture
33:52Stood this man
33:53Overcoming every day
33:55In a world
33:56That didn't have anything
33:57Good to say about him
33:58Or to him
33:59Noah stood for the grace of God
34:01And he stood tall
34:04First of all
34:04Noah was saved by faith
34:06In God's grace
34:09The Bible says
34:10In Genesis 6-9
34:11This is the genealogy of Noah
34:13Noah was a just man
34:15Perfect in his generation
34:17Now that doesn't mean
34:19He was sinless
34:20He wasn't a sinless man
34:22There has never been
34:22A sinless man
34:23To walk upon this earth
34:25Except the Lord Jesus
34:26But it does mean
34:28That he was a man
34:30Who stood above others
34:31In terms of his ethics
34:33And his character
34:34And his quality of life
34:35And his godliness
34:36Let me put two verses
34:38Together for you
34:39As if they were welded
34:40Together in the Bible
34:41One is Genesis 6-8
34:43And the other is
34:44Hebrews 11-7
34:45But Noah found grace
34:47In the eyes of the Lord
34:48And by faith
34:49Noah became heir
34:51Of the righteousness
34:52Which is according to faith
34:54Everybody who becomes a Christian
34:56Whether they're Old Testament
34:57Or New Testament
34:58Comes to God by grace
34:59And through faith
35:00To walk with him
35:02Think of what it means
35:03To walk with God
35:04Think what it meant
35:06For Noah to walk with God
35:07When there was no one else
35:08Walking along with him
35:10Think of what it means
35:12For us today
35:13Think of the disciples
35:14Who walked with Jesus
35:15Through Galilee
35:16Every time I go there
35:17And I walk these places
35:18Where the Lord Jesus walked
35:20I wonder what it must have been
35:21Like for him
35:22And especially for his disciples
35:24To follow him every day
35:26Through his journeys
35:27In the Holy Land
35:28The places where
35:30The Bible itself was born
35:33What it means to walk with God
35:35Let me ask you this question
35:37Are you walking with God?
35:41So often we become Christians
35:43And if we're not careful
35:44We don't change our walk
35:46And we don't even change our talk
35:48We're Christians
35:49Only because we've accepted Christ
35:51We're on our way to heaven
35:52But we're not walking with God
35:54We're walking with the world
35:55We're doing the comfortable things
35:57Perhaps Noah was inspired
35:59By his great grandfather Enoch
36:02Because this is what it says about Enoch
36:04And Enoch walked with God
36:07And he was not
36:09For God took him
36:10I love that verse
36:11Listen to it
36:12Enoch walked with God
36:14And he was not
36:16He just disappeared
36:18For God took him
36:19One of the early illustrations
36:20Of the rapture is Enoch
36:23There's no record of his death
36:24He walked so close to God
36:26That one day God said
36:27Enoch come on up here
36:28And he was gone
36:29And he disappeared from life
36:31He walked with God
36:32And he was not
36:33Even in this corrupt world
36:35Enoch and Noah tell us
36:38We can be overcomers
36:39We don't have to be corrupted
36:41By what's around us
36:42We can walk with God
36:47Noah was saved by faith
36:49In God's grace
36:50And he was sustained
36:52By faith in God's word
36:53That leads us to the second thing
36:56About his life
36:56Hebrews 11 tells us that
36:58By faith Noah
37:00Being divinely warned
37:02Of things not yet seen
37:04Moved with godly fear
37:06Prepared an ark
37:07For the saving of his household
37:09By which he condemned the world
37:11And became heir of the righteousness
37:12Which is according to faith
37:14Let's unpack that
37:15For just a moment
37:16Noah saw no evidence
37:19Of the coming flood
37:20The skies were clear
37:23Nothing in earth history
37:25Indicated
37:27A flood was even possible
37:29Most biblical scholars
37:30Including a man
37:31Who went to my church
37:32Until he went to heaven

37:36That up to the time of Noah
37:38No rain had ever fallen
37:40On the earth

38:47But God had spoken to Noah
38:50And God's word
38:52Was directly from God

38:56So impressed Noah
38:58With the divinity
38:59Of his speaking
39:00That Noah
39:01Took it as from God
39:04And obeyed it
39:05As if he were reading
39:06A verse
39:06Out of the bible
39:08You know here today

39:10We have Genesis
39:11And the other 65 books
39:13Of the bible
39:13God provided Noah
39:15With a shelter
39:16In the time of storm
39:17But how much more
39:18Blessed are we
39:19In a world
39:21That grieved God
39:22Men and women
39:23There was a man
39:25Who walked with God
39:27In this world
39:29In which you and I live
39:30That surely grieves God
39:32With just a few
39:34Of the things
39:34We've mentioned tonight
39:35How blessed
39:37We make almighty God
39:38When in spite of all
39:40That's going on around us
39:41We walk with God
39:43And keep ourselves
39:45Undefiled
39:46From the world
39:47In which we live
39:48Today
39:49After all these centuries
39:50It's just as simple
39:52As that
39:52Walk with God
39:54And you won't be
39:55Corrupted by the world
39:56The third thing
39:58We notice about this
39:59Is this was a world
40:00That grieves God
40:01It was a walk
40:02That pleased God
40:03And it was a work
40:05That honored God
40:06Here's the amazing thing
40:08About this story
40:08Noah didn't just sit around
40:10Waiting for the flood
40:12He threw himself
40:13Into a work
40:14That honored God
40:15The Lord gave him
40:17Two jobs to do
40:18And he did both
40:19Of them together
40:19He did them faithfully
40:21Listen to me
40:21For 120 years
40:25He pounded nails
40:26That was the first thing
40:29He pounded the nails
40:30And built the ark
40:31I don't know
40:32If they had nails
40:33Back then
40:34If they didn't have nails
40:35They had something
40:35That held it all together
40:36And we aren't really told
40:38How Noah fastened the timbers
40:40But according to
40:41Genesis 4 22
40:42They were forging
40:44Copper and iron tools
40:45And Noah and his sons
40:47Pounded away
40:48Fulfilling the exact
40:50Specifications
40:50God had given them
40:52Look at Genesis chapter 6
40:54With me for just a moment

42:51And couldn't comprehend
42:52The implications of it
42:54God said it
42:55He believed it
42:56And that settled it
42:57And he did it
42:59How many of us

43:02When we hear God
43:03Say something to us
43:04Somebody once told me
43:05If what God is telling you
43:06Makes total sense
43:07It's probably not God

43:33He was totally obedient
43:34There wasn't one detail
43:36That he omitted
43:36He did everything
43:37God told him to do
43:38And it goes without saying
43:40That people who walk with God
43:42Work for God
43:43If you're walking with God
43:45And God has something
43:46For you to do
43:47He's going to tell you
43:48And when he tells you
43:49To do it
43:49Don't argue with him
43:50Just do it
43:51Well pastor

43:52Why he would ask me to do
43:53That doesn't matter
43:54Do it anyway
43:55Do what God tells you to do
43:57So we need to keep

44:01That God has called us

44:07God has a need
44:09For each of us
44:10Don't worry about
44:11What you're going to be doing
44:12For the Lord
44:13Ten years from now
44:14Just look around
44:15And say
44:15Lord
44:16What do you want me
44:16To do today
44:17And then get busy
44:18And do it
44:19If you're going to
44:20Walk with the Lord
44:20You're going to have
44:21To work for the Lord
44:26As I look back
44:27Over what God has done
44:28At Turning Point
44:29And the two churches
44:30That I've pastored
44:31Most of the things
44:32That we've done
44:34Have not been logical
44:36And my wife's
44:37One of the most
44:38Believing and supporting
44:39People in the world
44:40But I've had a couple
44:41Occasions when I told her
44:43What I thought God
44:43Wanted me to do
44:44And she says
44:45You're going to do what?
44:49And it's such a wonderful
44:51Thing when you walk
44:52With God
44:53He gives you
44:54His daily plan
44:55For your life
44:55And you get something
44:56To do
44:56One of the wonderful
44:58Things that I get
44:58To do every day
44:59Is I get to work
45:00For God
45:00And you know
45:01There's only two things
45:02In the world
45:02That are
45:03That are indestructible
45:05Two things that will
45:06Be here after
45:06Everything else is gone
45:07The word of God
45:08And the people of God
45:10And I get to work
45:11Them every single
45:13Day of my life
45:13I am a blessed person
45:19So Noah and his sons
45:21Pounded nails
45:22For 120 years
45:25And then secondly
45:26He preached the gospel
45:27Noah was not just
45:29Pounding nails
45:30He was preaching
45:31The gospel
45:32We know that
45:33Because Peter wrote
45:34God did not spare
45:35The ancient world
45:36But saved Noah
45:37One of eight people
45:39A preacher
45:40Of righteousness
45:43I don't know
45:44How this looked
45:44But I have a feeling
45:45It was a ministry
45:46That grew with time
45:48When Noah began
45:49An occasional passerby
45:51Might ask
45:52What are you doing
45:53Brother Noah
45:54And I suppose
45:55Noah would pause
45:56His work long enough
45:57To say something like
45:58Well the God
45:59Who made this world
46:00Is grieved that
46:01The evil that has gripped it
46:02And the day of judgment

46:04And find favor in his eyes

46:46Standing in front of it
46:47Pointing to the door
46:48And telling people
46:49To consider their
46:51Eternal destiny
46:52Perhaps his sons
46:53Kept pounding nails
46:54While Noah paused
46:55To preach
46:56And when you consider it
46:57The door of that ark
46:59Is a perfect representation
47:01Of the gospel
47:03One of the men
47:04That I had greatly loved
47:05In my earlier years
47:06Of preaching
47:07And today still do
47:08Was the famed
47:09And beloved
47:10W.A. Criswell
47:11And this is what he wrote

47:14The entrance into that ark
47:15Of hope
47:16Was through one door
47:20There was not a door above
47:21For the birds to come in
47:23Nor a little hole
47:24In the floor

48:10For a lot of
48:11Different opinions
48:12About what should happen
48:13To get you in the ark
48:14The ark had one door
48:16One door only
48:18If you missed that door
48:19You would perish
48:20In the flood
48:22Today the Bible
48:23Teaches us
48:24That there is no salvation
48:25In any other
48:26And Jesus said
48:28That I am the way
48:29The truth
48:30And the life
48:31And no man
48:32Comes to the Father
48:33Except through me
48:34Maybe you came here tonight
48:35And you're among
48:36The sophisticated people
48:38Who say
48:38It's really unusual
48:40For anybody
48:41To be so bigoted
48:42As to say
48:43That there's only
48:44One way to heaven
48:45Well I don't think
48:47It's bigoted at all
48:48It makes perfect sense
48:49Did you know
48:50That when you become
48:52A Christian
48:52The Bible says
48:53You were born again
48:56When you came into
48:57This world
48:58You were born physically
49:00Did you know
49:01There's only one way
49:02To be born physically
49:04It takes a man
49:05And a woman
49:07And there is birth
49:08I know all about
49:09The stuff they're trying
49:10To do
49:10But say whatever you want to

49:12To be born

49:15And you can't get born
49:17Any other
49:17Don't you think
49:18That's rather narrow

50:40In Genesis chapter 7
50:41And the Lord said to Noah
50:43Come into the ark
50:44You and all your household
50:46Because I have seen
50:48That you are righteous
50:49Before me
50:50In this generation
50:52And you know that
50:53Noah went into the ark
50:54With his sons
50:56His wife
50:57A total of eight people
50:59Were saved
51:00In the ark
51:00The rain began to fall
51:03And you can imagine
51:04The knocks on the door
51:06By all the inhabitants
51:07Of Noah's community
51:08Who had heard him preaching
51:09For all these years
51:10Telling them what was
51:12Going to happen
51:12And they had laughed at him
51:14And scoffed at him
51:14Like some of you
51:16Laugh at preachers like me
51:17When we tell you
51:18That God will judge this earth
51:20If you don't repent
51:21You can't go to heaven
51:23And one day
51:24It was too late
51:26And the door was shut
51:28And the rain came
51:29And the floods came up
51:31And all those
51:32Who had refused to repent
51:34Were lost
51:37The Bible says
51:39That one day
51:40Though God will never again
51:42Destroy this world
51:43By a flood
51:45He's going to destroy it
51:46By a fire
51:49If you trust in Jesus Christ
51:51As your personal Savior
51:52You won't be here then
51:54You will have gone to heaven
51:55To be with the Lord
51:56You will have gone into the ark
51:58And be saved

54:11Intends for you to have

54:13Walking with him

54:15With him every day
54:16When you start

54:40To walk with God
54:40You may have been
54:41A Christian for many years
54:42You've been sort of
54:43A spectator

54:45A secret service Christian
54:47I know a lot of people
54:48Like that
54:48Nobody knows who you are
54:51Maybe tonight's the night
54:52When you start
54:53To walk with God
54:54And begin to live for him
54:56And if you start
54:57To walk with him
54:58And you simply say
54:59Lord I want to walk
55:00With you in my life
55:01Show me what you want me
55:03To do
55:03I promise you
55:04He will do that
55:06He's obligated to do that
55:08Not only will he show you
55:09What to do
55:10He'll help you do it
55:11And it will bring
55:12Such joy to your heart
55:14You won't be able
55:14To contain yourself
55:16Maybe you're here tonight

55:18You're just an interested person
55:21Who came to this event
55:22You don't know much
55:23About the Bible
55:24You don't know much
55:24About God and Christ
55:26But right now
55:27You understand
55:28That there's a way
55:29For you to go to heaven
