lore note on The Sea God's Disguise, and the rule is stated once, quietly, in a room.
He cannot use what he is where anyone can see. Not a threat — a term. Which is why the first three episodes never leave the house. Kitchens, hallways, a yard. No coastline.
Not a budget choice. The rule, being obeyed.
Then four episodes in, someone is in the water, he breaks the rule, and the show goes quiet. Sound drops out. He stands on a dock with wet sleeves and a bad explanation.
After that every rescue has to look like luck, and he gets worse at pretending.
✨ What worked for me: - The magic has a cost, and the cost is acting. - No glowing effects. Restraint reads as power.
✨ Bottom line: the strongest moment in this show is a man deciding not to be seen.
