00:44The docu-series chronicles Matthew Perry's rise to fame,
00:47his struggles with addiction, and tragically,
00:49his discovery of ketamine, which led to his drowning in 2023.
00:53In archival footage, the series shows Perry discussing a jet ski accident
00:57that led to his painkiller addiction.
00:59The actor admits that he started to take more painkillers
01:02because he was feeling sick from the effects of withdrawal when he didn't.
01:05His sister Mia also shares that tabloid magazines
01:07alerted her to her brother's addiction struggles in the late 90s,
01:11admitting she was initially in denial because she didn't know.
01:13She said her brother felt a connection to Chandler's character
01:16because he was, quote,
01:17a guy trying to distract everybody from how miserable he was all the time by being funny.
01:22Mia said her brother's addiction worsened
01:24as Friends got into its later seasons.
01:26She said he struggled with tremors and would draw symptoms while filming.
01:29His close friends also reveal at one point Perry was attending AA meetings three times a day.
01:34Mia also shared that Perry spent upwards of $7 million trying to get sober.

01:41and friends and family noticed he appeared happier and in a good mental place.
01:45But his sister, as a professional addiction counselor,
01:48revealed she was deeply skeptical about treating addiction with another drug.
01:51The series also unveils that Perry struggled ahead of the 2021 Friends reunion taping.
01:56His sister said his health was declining and he was nervous about being on camera.

02:57Kenneth Iwamasa, who pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine, causing death.
