00:00One thing that the last 24 hours has reminded me of is Twitter is not real life.
00:04And real life is incredibly different from Twitter.
00:08So yesterday, I played golf at 1 o'clock.
00:111 o'clock shotgun.
00:13I had a great time.
00:14Got to play the blue course, B.
00:15I played with two scratch golfers in a scramble.
00:18You know what's fun?
00:19Is playing in a scramble with two scratch golfers.
00:21Because if you flub something, we're good.
00:23We're still putting.
00:24You can swing away when you're playing with golfers like that.
00:26You know they're going to hit something good.
00:27Just swing it.
00:28B, I was hitting the driver well yesterday.
00:31You had the big brothers with you.
00:33I was drilling my drives.
00:35And they'd be 30 yards past me.
00:38I made a couple putts, though.
00:39It was a great, great afternoon.
00:41Focus on the putts and the shot game when you're playing with those guys.
00:44Dan Quinn spoke at 1 o'clock.
00:46You know how these shotguns go.
00:47By the time I teed off, it was probably like 110.
00:49So I was listening to DQ in my golf cart.
00:52And I wanted to just get a couple of what I thought were the most interesting quotes out.
00:57And as Quinn always does, he starts with like an opening statement.
01:02And he gave an injury update.
01:04And then he said what the focus is for this week to get back to winning games.
01:12It was a much-needed reset in a lot of ways.
01:15We did a self-scout in all three phases separately.
01:19And then that's up to me to, you know, like also do one collectively, you know, our complementary football.
01:25And so coming out of that, I like our fight and our intensity to match our levels of execution
01:30and play like we're capable of for all four quarters.
01:34There's been this half and that half.
01:36And so I know there's always ebbs and flows of the game and talk that to the team,
01:40but specific what needs to get done to go win the game.
01:43And I'm really excited to get rolling with the guys today and ready to get rolling with you as well.
01:48So I summarized that as such.
01:52I used zero quotation marks, okay?
01:55Like I know how I post things.
01:58I only put things in quotation marks if I have the exact quote.
02:02If there's no quotation marks is my summary,
02:04which anyone with a basic grasp of English should understand that.
02:09So I tweeted out, Dan Quinn says he expects the commanders to be able to put together complete games
02:14coming out of the bye week.
02:17Pretty fair summary of what he just said.
02:19We've had this half and that half.
02:21We've got to be able to put complete games together.
02:23We've got to be able to find the moments to go win the game.
02:27I'm playing golf.
02:28I tweeted that out and then a subsequent quote, not quote,
02:32but a subsequent summary of what Quinn said about the offensive line.
02:37That we plan to make strategic changes, but no personnel changes.
02:41Those are the two things that stood out to me most.
02:44Maybe that he expects Antonio Williams to have to step up more with Terry McLaurin out.
02:47I thought it was a pretty ho-hum presser, frankly.
02:51I put my phone away because I wanted to lock in on a beautiful day and play golf on a

03:06We finished nine, go in, get a bite to eat.

03:19And look at my phone and I have like a hundred texts.
03:24Whenever I'm playing golf, I will check to make sure if my wife is texting me.
03:28A lot of the other stuff I kind of leave unread.
03:30Because I'm like, I want to do this.
03:32I'll deal with this later.
03:32Like I took the day off work.
03:34You know what I'm saying?
03:35Like I'm not going to deal with all the monotony of work stuff that still comes my way.
03:40Because we live in a connected world.

03:44All was good on the home front.

03:51You know, there's like that little bathroom after the part three.
03:54And check my phone again.
03:55And at that point, I still have a ton of text messages.
03:57And it's like people I know and care about in the football world.
04:00And I'm like, what is going on here?
04:01So then I look and it's like, yo, was that a quote?
04:05We're trying to find the Dan Quinn quote.
04:07And I'm like, it wasn't a quote.
04:09It was my summary of it.
04:10But I got that from enough people that matter to me.
04:13Both locally and in other markets that I'm like, what did I say here?
04:17Why is everybody so worried about this?
04:19So then, eventually, I actually open up social media.
04:23Because I'm trying not to during this round of golf.
04:26But I'm like, all right.
04:27Something's going on.
04:27I want to make sure this isn't exploding or something.
04:31At which point, people all over are like, this is an embarrassing quote.
04:35I can't believe Quinn said this.
04:37Which, in fact, it's not even that embarrassing.
04:40They haven't played complete games.
04:41In San Fran, if they played that way the whole game.

04:46Let me help you out.
04:48And I say it to you all the time.
04:49You don't ever follow what I say.
04:51I try.
04:52Okay.
04:52One of the people that responded who said, embarrassing quote, was your boy.

04:59Nathan's going to always take the opposite side of everything you say and put out there.
05:03But you got to get to the point where you know what you put out.
05:07You know exactly what was said.
05:09And you know how it was.

05:14You can't worry about all the people.
05:16What they are trying to do is stir.
05:19And you got to get to the point where you give them a one-finger salute and keep moving, bro.
05:23You stress yourself out over stuff that you know.
05:27And that kind of pisses me off.
05:29So the one thing I wanted to be fair was to Quinn that, like, if everybody's taking this as a
05:34quote and he didn't say that exact thing.
05:35But you didn't put quotations on it.
05:37I know.
05:37So if you don't put quotations, you don't do it.
05:40And then that's the thing about it.
05:41All of these people who've taken the same, got the same education you might have.
05:46But they act like they're ignorant because they don't look for the factual stuff.
05:51They look for how can I make my story bigger.
05:55And that's where you got to get rid of it.
05:57And the whole thing about it is, I saw your quote.
06:01I heard them talking.
06:04And guess what I did?
06:05Okay, cool.
06:06They need to play four quarters.
06:08Hell, I've said that for the last three, four weeks.
06:11They need to go out there and execute more.
06:13They got to stop shooting themselves in the foot.
06:16How the hell is that embarrassing?
06:18It's embarrassing if you're a damn nerd and you don't know how to do anything.
06:22But it's not embarrassing.
06:23It's factual.
06:25Okay, so if the man comes out and gives you a factual statement, that's not good enough.
06:29If the man comes out and tries to beat around the bush, oh, he's not giving us the truth.
06:35So no matter what he does, it's going to be somebody having a problem.
06:37And I guarantee you, the same people that hit you yesterday, if he tried to beat around that bush, would
06:43have hit you again.
06:43So what's funny is, I then posted, eventually they mail out a transcript of the press conference.
06:49And I screen grabbed the transcript, posted the exact quote, clarified it.
06:55Nobody really cared about the clarification.
06:58And I got this tweet.
06:59That's it.
07:00Because they wanted to take something and make it bigger than what it actually was.
07:06I thought this dude nailed it.
07:07And I don't know this dude.
07:08This is someone named Al, whose Twitter handle is at Mr. Old underscore soul.
07:13So I'm going to credit to my man, Al.
07:15He tweeted me, he said, crazy thing is your original tweet didn't need any context.
07:19I knew exactly what it meant.
07:21It's common sense.
07:22But I guess a lot of folks around here want to be angry at everything.
07:25And the thing of it is, you got a wife, you got two beautiful daughters, you got multiple jobs, like
07:37you're working on coming to America.
07:39Not coming to America, what's the color, living color.
07:44You got to stop letting all them asses make you feel like you did something wrong.
07:49Because the problem is, all they do is stir up stuff.
07:54Because they don't have anything else going on.
07:57They can say they do, but it's not interesting enough.
07:59So guess what?
08:00They try to make yours become theirs.
08:04So, man, when you play golf next time, put your phone away completely.
08:09And put a special ring or a tweet.
08:13So if it's somebody from your wife, you know.
08:16The rest of the stuff you ain't got to look at.
