Commanders Rebuild Will Take Time

00:09That's that's the reason that they're working this thing how they're working it to try to build towards that type of deal

00:14You don't just wake up one day and say oh, I'm going to the Super Bowl. We did the

00:19We did the pregame show before Sunday night's preseason game

00:22And I did this segment with with onion and Leon Harris where they both just kind of asked me questions of what they were thinking

00:28You know NBC is all about the Olympics and so Leon asked

00:32by the next Olympics the

00:352028 I believe Olympics right the next Summer Olympics is this team a Super Bowl contender and

00:40I thought it was pretty fascinating to look at it that way give them some runway and

00:45There's a Leon smart man, right and there's a few ways you can look at it, right?

00:51Adam Peters is coming from Sanford

00:54Sam frame was bad for two seasons that third year. They got into the Super Bowl

00:58They lost but they were there and then they were clearly a Super Bowl caliber team

01:04Then you can look at the quarterback

01:07four years from now, what is the quarterback right and

01:11Say it hits this year and he proves he's the guy then you start to build around him

01:16Yeah, and and you continue to build through the draft and then maybe you supplement that with some real spending at key positions

01:22like I think

01:24To really matter that is your timeline

01:26Yeah

01:27And I think that's the ultimate thing like when I maybe it's quicker

01:30But it's at least but when people people ask me all the time my man

01:34What do you think we make it to the playoff this you can make to a Super Bowl now say listen, man

01:38You got the NFL you have to learn how to win

01:41okay, and normally that's normally like a two-year process to even must get the right people in place and

01:47Sometimes you say it could take a little long. It's never for like we had we heard before

01:51But once you get those people then they have to stay healthy sure, you know

01:56So I always say in two to three years

01:59They should be competing at a high level for NFC championship

02:04You know see East champions and then the NLC championship because once you get there

02:09Then guess what?

02:09The next step is go to you you should be that if you get home for the van you had a better thing

02:13You go to the Super Bowl

02:14Well, it's not gonna I don't think you can just throw some people new people this year and say oh, let's get it done

02:21chemistry matters in this damn league and everybody like to talk about the positions and

02:26Whose office and defense who gives a damn if you don't have great chemistry with the people do you have you don't have a problem?

02:32Well and to your point and going back to Sam Fran they went six to ten four and twelve boom

02:37They popped everybody stayed healthy. They went 13 and three went to the Super Bowl

02:41That's when they lost to the Chiefs, even though they had a lead in the fourth quarter, right?

02:44Yeah, um the following year they were back to six to ten because they had injuries

02:49Garoppolo went down remember like Nick Mullins ended up starting for him. So

02:54Nothing's a given ideal you build a good enough roster that you can sustain injuries

02:58I think that's what the last two Niners teams have proven above anything
