Controversial graffiti and posters at Jamia Millia Islamia and Jawaharlal Nehru University have sparked a political confrontation between the Bharatiya Janata Party and opposition leaders. Slogans referencing Kashmir, Sharjeel Imam, and Umar Khalid appeared amid student union election agitations, prompting the BJP to accuse visiting Congress and Samajwadi Party MPs of supporting divisive elements. Opposition leaders countered that the government is deflecting attention from student grievances and national security challenges, as debates also touched upon remarks by National Conference President Farooq Abdullah. Concurrently, the Election Commission of India submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court rejecting allegations of unilateral decisions by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar regarding the Special Intensive Revision. The Commission stated that decisions were taken unanimously with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, denying unauthorized modifications to Form 6. Internationally, political focus turned to Israel's parliamentary elections, where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces former IDF Chief Gadi Eisenkot amid regional developments.

00:00Hello and welcome, you're watching India First, I'm Gaurav Savanti.
00:04So after street protests, Delhi's top university campuses are now turning into a battleground for a political war and an
00:14ideological war.
00:15From free Kashmir posters and graffiti, to free Sharjeeel Imam graffiti at Jamia Milia Islamia, to free Umar Khalid posters
00:23at the Jawaharlal Nehru University.
00:25Questions are now mounting over the political messaging, finding space on India's elite campuses.
00:34These are amongst the best colleges in India.
00:38At Jamia Milia Islamia, for example, a poster demanding Students' Union election has been overshadowed by political charged graffiti.
00:47Now the graffiti includes words like free Kashmir and free Sharjeeel Imam.
00:52No space for Sanghees. RSS go back. Death to RSS. Death to BJP. Down with BJP or words to that
01:01effect. Down with RSS.
01:03From slogans invoking a separate political demand over Kashmir to calls for Sharjeeel Imam's release.
01:10These messages directly targeting the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh or the Bhatia Janata Party.
01:17There are questions that are now being raised about political messaging on campuses.
01:22The messages have since been wiped out.
01:26But then it's triggered a wider political storm.
01:28And adding fuel to fire, there were political leaders who went to the campus.
01:32For example, there were two Congress Party MPs and one Samajwadi Party MP who went to Jamia Milia Islamia.
01:39And they said that they were there in solidarity with students who were on a hunger strike.
01:44The Congress Party has questioned the BJP's objections to the protesting students and accused the BJP of using the graffiti
01:51controversy to target and silence students who are demanding elections.
01:56The Congress said slogans supporting Sharjeeel Imam are not wrong and that he should be granted bail.
02:01And that the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh is responsible for divisive politics in this country.
02:07And slogans, the BJP is deliberately trying to divert the issue from elections on campus of free Umar Khalid and
02:16Sharjeeel Imam to free Kashmir.
02:18The BJP hit back at the Congress, turning the Jamia Graffiti controversy into a direct confrontation over the opposition's stance
02:28on Kashmir and slogans that have appeared on campus walls.
02:31BJP leaders have raised pointed questions.
02:33Does the Congress support this graffiti for free Kashmir?
02:38Why does the Congress send its leaders to Jamia Milia Islamia when students and the authorities on campus have sorted
02:48out issues?
02:48The authorities have assured them that student union elections that haven't been held since 2006 will be held in a
02:55time-bound manner.
02:56And do leaders like Imran Masood, Imran Pratap Gadi and Mohibullah Nadvi of the Samajwadi Party, so two of the
03:04Congress and one of the Samajwadi Party, do they endorse slogans that call for free Kashmir?
03:11And it doesn't just end here.
03:13And not just add Jamia Milia Islamia.
03:15Let me take you to the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University.
03:18So a day later, Graffiti said that saying free Umar Khalid and long-lived Naksal Badi appeared on the walls
03:25of JNU.
03:27In response to free Umar Khalid, there's a new phrase or a new slogan that has also come up which
03:33says never free Umar Khalid and Akhand Bharat will be set up.
03:39Now, those slogans have also come up on the walls of JNU.
03:42So running parallel to this campus controversy is now another controversy, a political controversy over National Conference President and very
03:51senior veteran political leader, Farouk Abdullah's remarks on Kashmir and on Pakistan.
03:58Farouk Abdullah in Baramullah actually credited Pakistan for protecting Kashmir and the Kashmir issue, for keeping it alive across the
04:07world.
04:08In a statement, he said Pakistan is protecting the Kashmir cause or words to that effect, raising the issue at
04:14international platforms.
04:15He then went on to say there is little hope that Kashmiris have from the center.
04:21He actually urged Kashmiris to take courage and confront the center.
04:27BJP attacked Farouk Abdullah.
04:29They've accused him of peddling Pakistan's narrative and undermining India's position on Jammu and Kashmir.
04:37Union minister Prehla Joshi, he cited the plight of Kashmiris in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying why is it
04:44that these Kashmiri leaders never speak up for Kashmiri brethren in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir,
04:50who are facing real atrocities at the hands of Pakistan army and security forces and the bloodshed that has been
04:57caused by Pakistan in Kashmir over decades.
05:00They've demanded an apology from Farouk Abdullah.
05:03But this goes beyond Farouk Abdullah.
05:06Are you looking at this as three isolated incidents or is there a pattern that's coming up?
05:15Should we join the dots?
05:17What's happening about free Kashmir, free Sharjee Limam, free Umar Khalid?
05:22Pakistan is protecting the Kashmir cause.
05:24Is all of this now one more template for confrontation between the center and students?
05:35The graffiti may be erased as you can see in those posters, but the questions remain.
05:40Who is fueling the fire on the campus?
05:43What lies behind some of these very provocative messages?
05:47We'll debate that in greater detail, but first, listen in to the war of words.
06:19We'll debate that in the war of words.
06:21What's your theme for thisukar 2019 ?

08:36nature of the people of india
08:39they are still in power in
08:41Jammu and کشمیر
08:42which you should not forget
08:44and what is happening in
08:47paak occupied کشمیر
08:49it is day to day
08:51it is being relayed
08:53it is being telecasted
08:54It is being reported in the print media and also in social media of the Pakistan itself.
09:03So it's not just about slogans or graffiti on university campus walls.
09:08It's also about the words, the politics.
09:10And in the past, let's talk about these two men whose names remain in the eye of a storm.
09:17Sharjeeel Imam and Umar Khalid.
09:20They stand accused in a larger conspiracy case linked to the 2020 Anti-CAA, Anti-Citizenship Amendment Act,
09:30riots in the national capital and other parts of the country.
09:34The prosecution has accused them of being part of a wider conspiracy behind the riots.
09:40They face serious charges under the UAPA, under various provisions also of the IPC,
09:46including a criminal conspiracy and offences linked to rioting and violence.
09:50Both have been denied bail by courts of law.
09:52But it is Sharjeeel Imam's own words that once again brings him in the eye of a storm.
10:00So there is this raging debate over his ideology being in conflict with the constitution of India.
10:06Imam is reported to have argued that the constitution of India denies Muslims adequate representation.
10:13He calls it a roadblock or words to the effect, a roadblock to dignified existence of Muslims and other religious
10:20minorities
10:20and claims it actually entrenches centralization.
10:24The constitution of India.
10:25Words to the effect that all this is a fascist narrative.
10:28Now, these are not just first of his remarks to trigger a national controversy of sorts.
10:36In January 2020, and I want you to look at those images.
10:40This was at the Aligarh Muslim University.
10:43Sharjeeel Imam spoke about cutting off India's northeast at the chicken's neck area
10:48and crippling, crippling, crippling India's northeast or supplies to the northeast.
10:55Don't hear it from me.
10:57Hear Sharjeeel Imam's comments in 2020,
11:02which now he claims or reportedly has claimed was not about cutting off chicken's neck area
11:08or cutting off India's northeast entirely,
11:10but then calling for a chakka jam or words to the effect
11:13that a political protest in that area,
11:17in that very sensitive, militarily, strategically,
11:20very sensitive chicken's neck area,
11:22a chakka jam there
11:23so that the government would listen to them.
11:26Listen in.
11:29If you have 5,000,000,000 people have organized,
11:34then we can cut the North East and the North East permanently.
11:38But permanently,
11:39not only for a month,
11:40but only for a month to be cut.
11:41It's not so much to be able to get rid of the road.
11:46But not to go to the Air Force.
11:48Assam and India are our responsibility to cut off the other side.
11:52So this is our story.
11:56the battle lines are very clearly drawn free sharjil imam and umar khalid is one thing but
12:03free kashmir and faruq abdullah saying pakistan is protecting them or the neighbor is protecting
12:09them or words to that effect are these isolated developments or should one join the dots and is
12:15there a pattern here what should one make of imran masood imran pratap gadi two congress party mps
12:21and samajwadi party mp maulana mohibulla nadvi visiting the university let's do it joining
12:28me on india first is radhika kheda bjp's national spokesperson anshul travedi is national spokesperson
12:33of the congress party joining us on this broadcast in a moment we'll be joined by maulana sajid
12:38rashidi president of the all india imam association and zeenat shakatali is founder and director general
12:43of the world institute of islamic studies welcome radhika kheda so what if free sharji
12:51imam or free umar khalid posters and graffiti have come up at at universities i mean this could
12:56be dissent this could be free speech uh it it should be allowed on the campus why is the bjp
13:02up in arms
13:03over these this graffiti and posters and free kashmir graffiti on college campuses
13:11namaskar pandey matram and jay sriram gauram let's stop beating around the bush and call out this
13:17thick mean hypocrisy by its real name from jnu in 2016 to jamia today in 2026 the chronology is
13:24crystal clear and the masterminds were a congress and samajwadi party batch when anti-national
13:29elements spray paint free kashmir on the walls of a central university when they vandalize cctv
13:35cameras to hide their cowardice and when they scream slogans calling for the release of shijil
13:40imam and accused uh who conspired to cut off assam uh and the northeast from india who rushes to their
13:46sq rahul gandhi's congress and akhilesh yadav samajwadi party their favorite uh lok sabhai mps one
13:53who's often seen with priyanka wadra and one who's often seen sitting right next to rahul gandhi and
13:58akhilesh yadav and i want to ask the opposition panelists sitting here today what business does a
14:03mainstream political party have running to the campus a moment anti-india slogans are dropped
14:09you aren't there for student elections or democratic rights you are there to act as human
14:14shields for urban naxxas you want to talk you talk about the constitution you wave the constitution
14:19around and sharjil imam and his cheerleaders want to tear that very constitution apart to
14:24balkanize india and you are providing them the political oxygen while as brave soldiers glean and
14:29lay down their lives in frozen borders of kishmir to keep india safe to keep us safe right here in
14:34the heart of the national capital the congress and samajwadi party go running to have those
14:39who are demanding free kishmir for decades that's a very serious charge level let's take this point
14:44by point anshul travedi respond respond to the bjp saying congress in bjp's words congress stands with
14:53those who want to break india this stripe has been going on for the last 12 years no one actually
15:00buys it anymore now what was happening in jamia milia islamia the students were doing a protest a
15:06non-violent protest to restore their their student union elections so this movement has been going on
15:12since the 12th of october and till the 22nd of october nothing happened on the 22nd of october the
15:19itbpg dg mr shatujib kapoor says that there have been incursions by the chinese army in arunachal and
15:27all of a sudden we see that on the 24th and 25th there are there is graffiti and there is
15:33there are
15:33slogans all of a sudden so this is essentially the students are saying that give us the cctv footage
15:40of people who have done this they have condemned these slogans now why is this being done so from
15:46the 12th to the 22nd nothing was being done but as soon as issues of chinese incursions came in
15:53where we were losing checkpoints in the taxing sector came in the government could not stand by
15:59they needed to create a smoke screen they needed to create a straw man and that is what they've done
16:04people are tired of this radika kheda respond you've created a straw man with these with these
16:10free kashmir posters or free sharji limam graffiti you know i find it uh very uh childish when the
16:21congress is coming and talking like this it's the university who has gone on to say that the
16:27students were protesting shanti say and it is only after the congress and the samajwati nps came in
16:34that all this started happening that has been said on record by the uh by the university itself so like
16:41i said i don't speak over you so like i said for decades the congress model has been simple
16:47compromise national security institutionalized minority appeasement and auction india's sovereignty
16:53for a handful of vote bank uh votes and let me make this very clear on your channel today to
16:58the
16:58india alliance and the congress spokesperson here our honorable prime minister sri narendan modiji's
17:03government will not tolerate this internal sabotage for even one second the law is closing in every
17:10single vandal and writer caught on tape will face the full wrath of the state and no amount of
17:15opposition the mask is off the nation is watching no amount of this anti-india is going to be
17:22tolerant i want to respond okay they are not anshal rivedi wants to respond to you before i bring in
17:26zeenat shakatali and maulana sajid rashidi anshal quickly respond to the charges that are being
17:31the first prime minister in the last 75 years who has not been able to face up to the actual
17:37enemies
17:37of india and is conjuring imagined enemies to portray a strongman image he surrendered in sindur
17:44when the whole nation was behind him he has surrendered on the indo-us nuclear the indo-us trade deal
17:50he has surrendered on the russian noise excuse me he has surrendered national interest
17:54and now they are saying that they are protecting national interest they have surrendered in arunachal
18:00our checkpoints are in the locals are saying that just 10 seconds and since july 20th this
18:08government has been hiding that data hiding that information to the people of india so narendan
18:13he is mentioned in epstein files and i'll just like to finish it by saying that the number two of
18:21the rss has said that pulwama was just a pinprick and we should have inter civil society dialogue with
18:28pakistan so first they should get their act together narendan modi is a compromised prime minister who has
18:34compromised india's national security to bolster his own fake image this is a diversion and the people
18:40of india are not buying it anymore okay 10 seconds yeah okay radhika kheda wants to respond but since
18:46it's an issue of national security and since i cover national security i will come in on the factual
18:51position on ground to the best of my ability but radhika kheda respond you know they're talking about
18:58how prime minister sri narendan modi ji has surrendered one tweet from ellen musk and we saw what rahul
19:04gangi was quoting him so you have ellen musk literally begging in a way in front of this
19:10government and showing you his tweet which your own shahzada quoted if we were compromised ellen musk
19:24he has exposed this entire thing that you say that i didn't speak over you sir have the jigran to
19:33listen to me so then ellen musk has exposed you has completely exposed you if the prime minister was
19:40compromised ellen musk's stalling would be all over india already the fact that india and and you also
19:47see that we are not big uh we are there is nothing that is being levied on us to take
19:52russian oil
19:53you've seen what how everybody is looking at us india has come out stronger and it's very clear that
19:59we have not bowed down yet you are still begging ellen musk and the likes that bro come and interfere
20:07when it comes to compromising on national security and anshul on a question of fact you tell me you
20:14tell me the congress party was in power when 26 11 mumbai terror attacks happened 166 people were
20:23massacred what was the response and what was the response after the pehalga massacre when nine
20:30pakistani terror bases including for the first time ever you had mureed ke and bahawalpur the headquarters
20:35of terror hit and then you had a dozen pakistani air bases and air defense systems and military
20:41radars that were targeted you tell me what you know i leave the decision entirely to you but on a
20:48question of national security i would sincerely hope that you have the government and the opposition
20:53especially when you're talking about what's happening at the loc and the lac everyone on the
20:57same page because again 2020 was when india actually stood up to china and deployed 50 000 troops
21:05on ground to prevent that salami slicing of territory but be that as it may go ahead sir you wanted
21:10to
21:10respond i just wanted to put facts on ground yeah yeah no no i'll i'll i'll i'll come in see
21:16first of all
21:16ellen musk is not our friend he's the friend of trump and trump is the great friend of modi and
21:22trump
21:22is inflicting tariffs on india my dear friend he made a balkari of india and indian foreign policy
21:31by going and campaigning for trump who is now inflicting economic damage to india number one
21:38so don't intervene i didn't intervene when you said okay so second as far as uh the um the national
21:50security issue is concerned after 9 11 we took a position to diplomatically isolate pakistan
21:59it had no friends it was isolated across the world and then when operation sindoor happened okay the
22:05entire opposition bad narend modi to go in for military action no you didn't the pressure of
22:12trump congress didn't he back down and it was president trump who told the indian people
22:17that the offensive had been called off india has never been so humiliated
22:22as under narend modi because all he cares about is his image fair enough not the national security of
22:28this country i'll come back to a debate for the day but ultimately both the congress and the bjp realize
22:33it is the voters who decide who has the confidence and who doesn't the voters of this country will
22:39decide both of you have set up both your narratives but let me bring in zeenat shaukat ali on the
22:45kind
22:45of graffiti that's coming up zeenat shaukat ali you head the world institute of islamic studies
22:51now they say free sharjil imam now of course it's quotes of law who will do that but there's a
22:58point
22:58there's a there's a statement that's been attributed or an interview that is going viral
23:02uh or comments that are going viral that seem to indicate that uh the person that they want
23:08uh to be freed finds the indian constitution fascist secularism a trap indian democracy denies
23:16indian muslims their political right do you agree with this kind of thinking of course that has nothing
23:22to do with the legal case that that individual is facing courts of law will decide on that but i'm
23:27asking you a question on his thinking and you are here as an analyst what is your reading of
23:32someone like sharjil imam uh you know when he says our constitution is fascist uh and uh you know
23:39the trial that he's facing is for cutting off chicken's neck uh and what's that effect we have
23:45many people in our country who bat for such ideology
23:51thank you for inviting me to the show first let me tell you it is condemnable
23:55what the man is saying is condemnable and i would request uh our uh learned uh you know uh parties
24:02who are you know this is a security matter and it has to be there united united we stand for
24:10india
24:11security let's start with that and what sharjil imam has been talking about can you take this man
24:17seriously is he i i i i'm quite in shock that anybody can speak in this fashion where he says
24:25that the
24:25constitution is fascist that you know that uh that secularism is a trap and that dinner democracy
24:34you know that he denounces democracy uh completely now this is a kind of a mind that you know you're
24:44asking me a question that that has to be examined very carefully because no person in their right senses
24:50is and no person belonging to a country can speak in this manner this has done not to do with
24:55the
24:55division of political parties and their views this has to do with us as indian citizens and our pride in
25:01india and it has cannot be accepted uh let me tell you whoever whatever the religion of the person is
25:08cutting across that this these kind of statements are absolutely condemnable and not to be they cannot be
25:15because they are not plausible they are not practical and they're rubbish let me bring in
25:21anshul trivedi because anshul trivedi some of your party leaders may be batting for sharjil imam but are
25:27you aware of his thoughts about the congress party or at least the thoughts uh that are doing the rounds
25:32uh in in in the media uh sharjil imam apparently believes that the congress-led government may be just
25:39temporary relief but it will not solve the problems of indian muslims he believes hindus of india liberal
25:46or not are anti-muslim and perhaps and words to the effect that mahatma gandhi was a fascist
25:51and that the term ram raj you know for that term ram raj is that is that the congress's idea
25:58of
25:59secularism that mahatma gandhi was fascist see as far as sharjil imam is concerned let me tell you anyone
26:08who disagrees with the tenets of our constitution is not our ally whether it is case udarshan of the
26:14rsss or whether it is sharjil imam thus if you oppose our constitution we oppose you but at the same
26:22time what we're saying is that we disagree with him politically we'll fight to death against his ideas
26:28but at the same time let the courts decide whether he is guilty or not and both things can be
26:35true and
26:36there should be a fair process of law by which means he should be brought to justice whether it
26:42is rss who denied our constitution or whether it is sharjil imam they should be politically isolated in
26:47this country that is and his and no one no one should be in jail for having outlandish and idiotic
26:56views
26:57fair enough radika kheda a man cannot be jailed for his thoughts no matter how bizarre you may think his
27:03thoughts are uh you know so what is wrong if this free sharjil imam graffiti comes up on college campus
27:10i mean it could be dissent it could be opposition to the government or in your view is this sedition
27:19i think uh in every indian's view this would be sedition and this would be anti-national free kashmir
27:28would you agree with it would any indian anyone born in india living breathing india or would you agree
27:35with it got it so it's not about me it's about every indian we don't belong to the ideology just
27:40where uh even after a lady was accepted by the country she still stops one their mother maybe for
27:45them it's okay it is not okay for indians and two things i need to call out over here i
27:49was listening
27:50to the congress spokesperson i need to call out his hypocrisy now when our itbp chief explicitly stated
27:56that our elite shawriya commandos are dealing exceptionally well with the face-off and aggressive
28:00posture along the arunachal border the congress is running to paint a picture of panic let me
28:06remind the congress party that this is new india under prime minister sri marindam modiji
28:09unlike your times when incursions were stripped under the rug and land was lost in silence every
28:15singular inch of arunachal pradesh are uncompromised in alienable territory is
28:19that are giving crushing eye-to-eye response let me remind you of mehruji not an inch of grass grows
28:26here
28:26remember when he gave away our land to china and also let me clear the air on the tariffs that
28:31he
28:31was talking about now uh this again they have this opposition has this hollow panic mongering
28:36they want to always show this picture that everything is going uh wrong in the country
28:41under our prime minister sri marindam modiji india does not bow down to external trade pressure
28:46we negotiate terms that safeguard 140 crore indians so stop using international trade adjustments for your
28:52political bankruptcy let me give you a reality check just 10 seconds india's merchandise export
28:57to us have hit over 50 billion dollars proving that our market fundamentals and manufacturers
29:03manufacturing is resilient also while we are flying over here let me tell him that we have not bowed
29:09down to the external economic pressure and either whether it's uh uh you know all the
29:14okay anshul travedi wants to respond to you anshul travedi wants to respond to you especially on the
29:22aspect and anshul travedi i do want you to respond uh to to this idea where they're saying that congress
29:27stands with those who want to break india uh you know whether it's 2016 2020 2026 this is the bjp's
29:37narrative
29:37on this see the bjp said that they'll bring back black money that they'll bring back black
29:42money from swiss banks they'll give 15 lakh rupees to everyone they'll create jobs so bjp lies
29:46through and through so you don't need we don't need to respond to what the bjp does but there are
29:51certain things that are recorded in history that when the entire country was behind mr naren moody
29:57he surrendered in operation sindoor and it was the first time in the history it was in the first
30:03time in the history of india that an operation was called off and the indian people were informed
30:08by the president of the united states of america i think you need to give him a lesson on how
30:12defense
30:12so so the thing is that the people of india the forces of india the brave men who laid down
30:19their
30:19lives for in the line of fire are fighting but our political leadership is compromised that is why
30:26when rubio comes in a justice department brings out a file of the epstein uh cash and then we are
30:34arm twisted how many times did india go and bomb pakistan don't don't interrupt just while you're
30:40at it let us do that one by one one by one one by one it's just you know one
30:48by one it was the first
30:49time yeah fair enough so the congress party may believe that the country that the prime minister
30:55surrendered you're saying that the sum got up just let me finish in five seconds it was the first time
31:02in the history of independent india that some industrialist got the gumption to you know call
31:09some industrialist a prime minister and he was welcomed by mr naren moody himself and rubio himself
31:16bypassed the prime minister and went directly to mumbai so these are our fronts to india they
31:21are not belittling they are belittling india due to modi's incompetence and being compromised
31:27and as a proud okay radhika kheda wants to respond to you radhika kheda wants to respond it's interesting
31:33it's interesting those who have compromised in uttar pradesh by giving a rajava rajasafa seat to the
31:39same industrialist company and who are from your alliance partner seat and very conveniently that
31:46industrialist picture was removed from rahul gandhi's press conference where uh the sil press
31:51conference happened answers a lot of questions and having said that you're talking about we have
31:56saved the country after 26 11 what was happening in india so i'm sure radhika is not allowed to
32:02intervene but you are allowed to intervene is that the way congress expects the debate to happen
32:07no no no she she's so then wait for her after 26 11 after 26 11 rahul gandhi the shahzada
32:13was congress
32:14was partying in a farmhouse in delhi chattarpur the state chief minister was showing the sites uh where
32:21the terrorist attack was taking place live to a film director called ram gopal yada ram gopal barma
32:27because he wanted to relaunch his son the same way you know his son kept failing and we have
32:32seeing a relaunch of rahul gandhi again and again he wanted to relaunch his son in a movie i want
32:37to
32:37bring in zeenat shakatari once again because on a very critical issue of national security you have
32:42the ruling party and the principal opposition party bickering in in this manner because on operation
32:48sindoor i am very clear on operation sindoor india pulverized pakistani air bases and for the first
32:57time ever hit the headquarters of terror that's not happened anshul that's not happened in the past
33:04it's a very serious thing when your nation does something when your armed forces do something
33:08and you don't seem to realize that it's fine it's fine by me but zeenat shakatali
33:16if if okay when we whether so you wanted it to be a forever war like the russia ukraine war
33:25going
33:26on or the america israel uh you know iran war that's going on endlessly that is the way the congress
33:32party wants the country to be involved in war and not carry peace forward be that as it may fair
33:37enough
33:37if that is the congress party's thinking very good but zeenat shakatali what is your reading
33:43of senior members of parliament you know you have imran masood imran pratap gadi or samajwadi
33:51party leader and member of parliament mohi boobala nadvi visiting college campuses
33:57at a time when such gravity is coming up will it calm tensions or will it lead to escalation of
34:03tensions in your view ma'am but of course you see this kind of thing cannot be countenanced
34:09it is not it is not based on reason it is not based on your love for the country because
34:16here
34:16you're talking about compromising national security which cannot be done at any cost
34:20and with due respect you know to my very highly educated and qualified uh uh you know politicians
34:28this is not the time for you to bicker i think you use that correct word
34:32this is the time for you to stand together and to condemn a man who is talking like jinnah
34:38you have to take this matter a little more seriously than you are taking it and getting
34:45into these small time uh arguments what you have to understand is what is this man saying i have been
34:51reading uh you know uh i could i could talk to uh half an hour on the things that this
34:56man is saying
34:57and how he can be rebutted but the point is that this matter has to be taken at that security
35:04level
35:05this man has stood up and he is saying things exactly like jinnah's 14 point program i mean whatever
35:13he spoke at that time and this can be very sorry in my to my humble mind you know unacceptable
35:20completely
35:22i cannot appeasement of jinnah led to partition once you've already had appeasement of jinnah
35:27with which led to partition are we are we creating more such elements in our country or encouraging more
35:33such elements in our country that should be a matter of a grave concern for every indian irrespective of
35:39their political thinking ideology or or their thought process we cannot afford uh our country
35:45to see more divisions but anshul where do you stand on senior national conference leader faru kabdullah
35:51saying pakistan is protecting kashmir and advocating its cause and that india's intentions are not right
35:57where does the congress stand on that sir see that is for the national conference to say my view is
36:02clear
36:03that kashmir belongs to india and we'll defend it to death we'll not compromise our interest like modi did
36:09it's as simple as that and we have to have to take this seriously now see slogans are not going
36:17to
36:17disintegrate india but modi's incompetence is modi being compromised is going to disintegrate india
36:26our trade deficit increasing with china is going to endanger our national security
36:37so these are things that we need to take into account this government does not need to fight
36:44students the government needs to fight the real enemies who are radika kheda respond the government needs to
36:50fight real enemies and not and not graffiti on campuses which which will not weaken our country
37:00if we have to fight real enemies so those people who say that uh sam is not a part of
37:06india
37:06northeast is not a part of india free kashmir they are not our enemies they are our friends
37:11and we should listen to them and give away our india and when he talks about uh that they don't
37:16agree
37:17uh with and they say that kashmir is in the technical part of india we will fight to turn
37:20in so i believe that the congress spokesperson will announce on your channel today and on your
37:25show and this should be the breaking that they are going to go and uh take back their support and
37:30they will not be a part of the jambu kishmir government they will not stand along while this
37:34debate continues there's breaking news coming in and i quickly have to cut across to this breaking news the
37:38election commission of india has filed its affidavit and its response to petitions in the supreme
37:44court over alleged abuse of power by the chief election commissioner gyanesh kumar and changes
37:50that were made in the form the special intensive revision of electoral roll form 6 the election
37:57commission says it has decision making process that includes deliberations and discussions the election
38:06commission of india has denied news reports of unilateral decision making by the cec the eci
38:13has trolled the supreme court form 6 has not been amended only the center can amend it the sir declaration
38:24is a separate document it admits that online display could be read as an amendment on the eci net app
38:34issue
38:34says no name is added or deleted except by the order of the ero a committee with experts from iit
38:42and indian
38:43institute of science has been set up to check compliances i want to quickly cut across to india
38:49today's anisha mathur getting us the latest on this big story anisha this is huge the eci saying all decisions
38:58were in taken in consultation either unanimous or majority is that what they're saying and that cec did not
39:04take any decision on his own bring us details of the affidavit anisha well yes gaurav just as the supreme
39:13court is set to hear about nine petitions challenging the election commission's working uh calling for
39:20action against the cec gyanesh kumar and questioning the decision making process in the forms that have
39:26been changed for the sir the election commission has now filed its affidavit uh saying uh denying all
39:33of these allegations denying the news reports it has in fact said that all the work that has been
39:39done has been done under as per the procedure and the law under the election commissioner's uh condition
39:46of work uh condition of work act uh the election commissioners the letters written by reportedly by the
39:53election commissioners to the chief secretary uh to the cabinet secretary i beg your pardon uh were
39:59work communications that should not be relied upon as far as that should not be taken as a decision
40:06of the election commission that the work allocation order controversy that had happened the order was not
40:11implemented after this joint direction by the two commissioners what is important for our voters for
40:18the viewers is that the court the election commission has said that names cannot be added or deleted from
40:24the rolls without an order from the ero that there are safeguards already in place and most importantly
40:31what they're saying is that the form 6 has not been changed but the declaration that was added was to
40:37ensure
40:38that people could be mapped because they learned from the bihar sir experience that when people were not
40:45able to uh since mapping option was not available for the bihar sir therefore people were asked to come
40:52back again and again with multiple documentations to show uh that uh they are eligible to vote and that is
41:00why this option of declaration was added so that people could add uh could declare their parents or
41:07grandparents which would avoid the requirement of multiple rounds of verification and multiple
41:13documentations from form 6 remains the same form 6 annexure is to facilitate voters so that in case
41:23there is no data of parents they can even go back to data of grandparents to make an entry is
41:29that what
41:29you're saying point one and point two uh it's also very significant the eci in its affidavit insist that the
41:36three orders related to the special intensive revision of the electoral rolls issued on june
41:422025 issued on october 2025 and may 2026 three orders eci in an affidavit are saying that they are
41:51unanimous they were approved unanimously by the commission and should they say that they would
41:57be giving corresponding documents would it would have signatures of all three officers isn't it anisha
42:03well uh i'm still looking through the affidavit to see whether they've given the corresponding
42:09documentation or not however what the affidavit itself does say that yes all the decision making was
42:16done unanimously by the election commission that everything had that has been done has been done
42:23according to as per procedure now uh the election commission of course had been asked to file detailed
42:31affidavit on uh all of these issues when the orders uh of the at the moment what i can tell
42:40you however
42:40is that they compare they have given a comparison of the sir order of may 2025 sorry june 2025 and
42:48uh
42:48october 2025 to show that there was no change in the form six per se only the declaration has been
42:56changed
42:56they're also the at the moment however i can tell you i'm looking through the documentation that has been
43:03filed along with this uh affidavit the annexure does not carry the documentations remember the supreme court
43:11had earlier said that whatever file notings etc are there should also be submitted this affidavit at least
43:17does not have that particular documentation however what it does have is the orders that have been passed
43:26by the uh election commission the sir orders that have been passed uh by the election commission and
43:33i i'm looking and they're all unanimous it's not even majority they say it's unanimous june 2025 october
43:402025 and may 2026 were approved unanimously by the election commission and not only that anisha it says
43:48that the affidavit was approved by all three members gyanesh kumar the chief election commissioner and the
43:56two other election commissioners sukbeer singh sandhu and vivek joshi so even the affidavit is
44:02unanimously submitted all three as signatories isn't it we need to remember that the supreme court has in
44:09fact issued notice not just to the election commission but to the three commissioners including
44:14the cec as individuals as well because the election the supreme court after taking note of these petitions
44:20that had come to the supreme court had specifically questioned this very issue that were these decisions
44:27unanimous or not that were these uh were were all the processes that are supposed to be followed followed
44:34properly or not and the affidavit that has been filed now i'm reading uh to you from this affidavit yes
44:40it says very clearly that the contents uh uh sorry um that the affidavit has been approved for filing
44:48before this court by a unanimous decision of the three members of the election commission that is
44:52the cec and the two election commissioners they've categorically denied the news report they've said
44:59clearly that the three sir orders whether it was the june 2025 order or the later orders were issued in
45:07accordance with decisions arrived at unanimously and taken in compliance of article 324 of the
45:14constitution of india and the chief election commissioner and other election commissioners act of 2023
45:19they have categorically denied the news reports and in fact they have said
45:24the attempt to make aspersions against the election commission is unfortunate they've also argued that
45:31these petitions are filed only on the basis of news articles that the commission
45:35is functioning according to the law and that allegations have been made questioning the
45:41integrity of the election commission and that is why they are clarifying the factual uh situation
45:48and the rules that have been followed in fact they've said that these petitions are misconceived
45:54and uh that all decision making at and views and in fact what is interesting is that they've also said
46:02and i'm reading from the affidavit here that all decision making process suggestions observation
46:08varying views or queries by officials within the chain of command uh within the chain of command are
46:16taken into consideration when any decision is being arrived at by the competent authority
46:21that uh the views of the ecs and the cec of the commission during the decision making process are
46:28considered for arriving at the decision and after considering all the views uh placed before the
46:33unanimous decision was taken so it's not even a majority decision it's a unanimous decision they've
46:40denied that there was any unilateral decision by the chief election commissioner gyanesh kumar
46:44affidavit also approved unanimously by the chief election commissioner and the two election commissioners
46:51form 6 not amended is what the election commission has submitted in the supreme court all the details
46:59anisha mathur will have much more on this big story for you israel is heading for crucial elections
47:05prime minister benjamin netanyahu it's a make or break battle for him he's fighting to retain power
47:10amidst mounting security political and legal challenges benjamin netanyahu's he's israel's
47:15longest serving prime minister faces a formidable challenge from former idf chief gadi
47:19eisen court voters weigh in on the gaza war security challenge cost of living
47:24and confidence in the government and of course the israel iran war benjamin netanyahu is positioning
47:30himself as the leader best equipped to confront the challenge posed by iran and its regional proxies
47:36pranayopadhyay gets us more in this report
47:52one man two decades in power one verdict
47:59benjamin netanyahu israel's longest serving prime minister is fighting to stay in office
48:06this is going to be a very crucial election of israel no party has ever secured single largest majority
48:13in the israel's history or parliamentary election but this election is not going to be any different
48:19because the scenario which is protected by the uh by the polls opinion polls uh clearly indicates that
48:26no major no coalition be the prime minister with benjamin netanyahu led in the record party's coalition
48:31no coalition is likely to secure single largest majority and this makes the role of arafat
48:37is absolutely important in this election security failures before october 7th attacks the conflict
48:47with iran the cost of living and legal troubles hang over him
48:54how are you reading this election and why this election is considered as one of the most defining
48:58elections of israel's history well these elections are happening at a time when the entire west asia and
49:05to say the entire world is undergoing a major shift not just in terms of geopolitics but in terms of
49:11geoeconomics also you see that wars have ravaged the economies and the geopolitical manifestations are
49:17coming out in such a way that no new dynamics are shaping the area of west asia what we call
49:25the middle east also
49:28is
49:29his challenger is formidable gadi isencott
49:35a former chief of the israel defense forces voters are weighing the government's leadership
49:42and coalition arithmetic may decide the outcome
49:46mayan mayan you'll be voting for the first time
49:50what are you what are you what are the issues of youngsters of the zen
49:55we don't know enough and i think we need to
50:00we need to be careful for each other
50:05and guys be yourself and we will
50:08yeah we will win
50:13netanyahu has projected himself as the leader best equipped to confront iran and its proxies
50:21even as netanyahu faces a formidable opponent he has help from his biggest ally donald trump
50:31while touting his relationship with netanyahu trump hailed bibi as a warrior prime minister
50:37and claimed that he must be re-elected in order to finish the job against iran thank you very
50:43much thank you thank you thank you however the israeli polls are a lot bigger than netanyahu's political
50:51fate the result will shape how israel deals with iran its proxies and the war in gaza
51:00uh former idfc uh gadi eisenkot led uh coalition no uh coalition is likely to secure single largest majority
51:09and this makes the role of arabians absolutely important in this election because they may be
51:17you know king maker but will any party take their help because that remains a question because both the
51:24coalitions led by gadi eisenkot and benjamin netanyahu have already said that they are not going to take
51:30the help of the arab parties then what will happen because that is going to decide the fate and future
51:36of israel's new government with pranay upadhyay in tel aviv bureau report india today
51:48and let me now quickly cut across to jerusalem pranay upadhyay joins us from ground zero pranay
51:54the first elections after the october 7 2023 terror attack on israel
52:00what are the issues that's that that is going to bring people to to the to the ballot box to
52:06the
52:06voting center what brings them what you know makes them tick about these elections
52:14gaurav as you know that in the electoral history of israel no one party has ever secured majority on
52:19its own and in fact this election election for the 26th kenneth is not telling any a different story as
52:26far as the opinion polls are concerned and in fact the opinion polls are indicating that neither prime
52:31minister benjamin netanyahu led liquid party and its coalition nor the gadi eisenkot led yashar party and
52:37its coalition is able to to manage or to to get the uh the magic number of 61 seats uh
52:44in the 120 seat
52:46parliament of israel and in fact this open up a lot of possibilities uh many things can happen
52:51uh either there is a possibility of a re-election there is a possibility of another permutation
52:57combination there is even a possibility of a national unity government where gadi eisenkot and
53:02netanyahu can come together so obviously this is the coalition politics of israel where many things
53:07many permutation combinations can work together uh but certainly uh you know this is a tough challenge
53:13for prime minister it indeed is and it's too close to call keep tracking that story i will come back
53:18to you for more prayer for the moment many thanks
