00:34or the SIR of the electoral rolls
00:37and will be demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner
00:42or the CEC, Dyanesh Kumar.
00:44Now this has been their one demand that they have continuously harped upon,
00:49the resignation of the CEC.
00:51Now the decision was taken at a meeting attended by representatives of the Congress,
00:57the Communist Party of India, that is the CPI, the Communist Party of India Marxist
01:02and Rashtriya Janata Dal or the RJD, Nationalist Congress Party, which is the NCP
01:07and the Revolutionary Socialist Party, among others.
01:11This is according to a statement that has been issued by the Delhi Congress.
01:15Now the Delhi Congress General Secretary Anil Bhavadwaj has said
01:19that the parties of the India Bloc had decided to jointly oppose
01:24what they termed a flawed SIR process and seek its immediate repeal.
01:31So this is what they are asking, an immediate repeal.
01:34They are saying that the voter list is the foundation of democracy
01:38and if any process is adopted that they believe could potentially remove voters' names
01:44or impact their rights, the India Alliance or the India Bloc will not accept it at any cost.
01:51This is what the Congress spokesperson has said in a statement when he has mentioned
01:56that all these parties of the India Bloc will be protesting on October 7th.
02:02Now joining us right now is India Today's Rahul Gautam on the phone line.
02:06Rahul, the decision to protest in Delhi jointly in front of the office.
02:11Do tell us more about it.
02:14Well, on 6th of October, we know that all the opposition MPs are going to march
02:19from the parliament all the way to the election commission.
02:23This protest will be joined by all opposition MPs including Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha
02:30from opposition parties and we all know the very demand that they have been making
02:36which is to seek removal of the CAC Gyanesh Kumar and also to, you know, get an independent probe
02:42initiated against him.
02:44On 7th of October, all the parties of India Bloc, which are going to be in the national capital,
02:52they will also, you know, march, they will also hold up protests.
02:56Now, this is something which is being organized under Delhi Congress unit and wherein they're
03:01going to rope in other like-minded parties as well.
03:04And on 8th, we all know that how a pan-India, you know, protests and demonstrations are already
03:11lined up by the India Bloc.
03:12So, clearly, it seems that they are only increasing the pressure on Chief Election Commission,
03:18on BJP, on incumbent regimes saying that all is not well when it comes to the entire election
03:24process of the country, so expect that they will be going to continue to move to India.
03:27Right, and we'll be keeping an eye on that protest.
03:29Thank you very much, Rakul, for all that information.
