A political confrontation has broken out between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party following Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a public address in Patna. The BJP has staged demonstrations and lodged police complaints, while Congress leaders cited previous personal attacks by political opponents in defence. Alongside this debate over political discourse and accountability, the Delhi government has announced its winter pollution action plan, prohibiting non-BS6 vehicles registered outside the capital from entering Delhi between November 1 and January 31, affecting over ten lakh commuters across NCR hubs such as Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad. At Jamia Millia Islamia University, student protests and hunger strikes persist over demands for the restoration of the elected students union, prompting the deployment of Delhi Police and paramilitary personnel on campus.

02:40From attacks on political leaders to barbs aimed at families, the question still remains, where does political criticism end and

04:21From Delhi to Patna, Lucknow, Jammu and Bengaluru, BJP workers took to the streets demanding an apology.
04:53A BJP worker has also filed a police complaint against the Congress Chief, but the Congress
05:00isn't backing down.
05:02Its argument, the BJP has repeatedly targeted Rahul Gandhi's father and grandfather and cannot
05:09expect the opposition to stay silent.
05:34BJP likes to make issues out of non-issues.
05:38Before commenting on what happened yesterday, they need to first understand how it happened.
05:46And you, as all of you are aware, it's general how people talk, whether it's in any language.
05:54If you file FIR, if 100 people come and troll us, nothing is going to change.
05:58We don't need to learn culture from them.
06:02The Congress says the BJP cannot claim the moral high ground.
06:05It has shared a video of Amit Shah's 2024 election speech, referring to Indira Gandhi, arguing
06:12that its leaders have faced personal attacks for years.
06:27And the list of barbs goes back years.
06:30Over the years, the Congress has been called Khoni Panja.
06:33Sonia Gandhi has been likened to Jersey cow and Rahul Gandhi a hybrid calf.
06:40Different elections, different battles, but the same question, where does political criticism
06:46end and personal abuse begin?
06:50When leaders drag parents and families into political battles, who draws the line?
06:55With Rahul Gautam and Piyush Mishra, Bureau Report, India Today.
07:04Because when it comes to public discourse, language in public life, there are no holy cows when it comes to
07:11political parties.
07:12Practically every party is the same.
07:15So, can one party take a moral high ground over the other?
07:18And shouldn't there be basic levels of decency when it comes to public discourse?
07:23That's what we are discussing this evening, debating it.
07:26Joining me, Rohan Gupta, national spokesperson, Bharatiya Janata Party.
07:30Rahul Singh Kalija, spokesperson, Congress.
07:33Ashutosh, political analyst.
07:34Rajat Sethi, political analyst.
07:36All of you will get a two-minute time to put your points forward.
07:39I'd like to begin with the BJP spokesperson, because Rohan Gupta, the BJP has been affronted, and rightly should be,
07:48by the language used by none else but Mr. Malik Arjun Khadgi, the President of the Congress Party, and should
07:56have never been used.
07:57But, you know, Rohan Gupta, is it a little rich coming in from the BJP?
08:03Because similar language has been used multiple times by your political party leaders as well.
08:09One can say that, oh, this is monkey balancing.
08:11But the fact is, this is political public discourse.
08:14If you set the template, then you have to follow and live by the same rules.
08:20My point is very simple.
08:22I think we have done this debate not for the first time.
08:24Maybe 15, 25, 28 times we are doing this debate.
08:28I'm saying anybody who is doing personal commit against anybody, that is absolutely not acceptable in politics, whoever it is.
08:34But coming from Congress President again and again, it's not for the first time.
08:38You have seen Mr. Rahul Gandhi mocking Mr. Modi's mother on the stage.
08:41So, this is not, you know, a mistake.
08:43This is out of some style of Congress functioning, where they feel that, you know, inserting Modi gives them some
08:49kind of satisfaction.
08:50And what happens, you know, when you do this again and again, for the last 12 years, Congress Party has
08:55followed this thing.
08:56Whenever they get frustrated, whenever they feel that they are not going to win trust of people, they start personal
09:01attacks.
09:01And after that, what happens, people start taking revenge of personal attacks on Mr. Modi, but still they don't understand.
09:07It is their compulsion.
09:08Otherwise, coming from the president, and if you see the follow-up thing, that person was a worker of Congress
09:13Party, and he was saying that if we don't do this kind of thing, then the Modi will go.
09:17He is not even ready to listen to it.
09:20So, this has become a mindset of the Congress, today's Congress Party.
09:23They are just indulging in personal comments against Mr. Modi, and every time they have done it, you know, it
09:29has backfired.
09:30And again, I am saying, whoever has done it, even in the past or even today, it should not be
09:34done.
09:35But doing it again and again, again and again, again and again, and giving older examples, I think that's not
09:39justified.
09:40You have to stop somewhere.
09:41And you have paid price of that.
09:43Why don't you understand as a political party, your main core issue is completely out.
09:47But it is your compulsion, it is your frustration, it is your complete lack of trust with the people that
09:53you have to succumb to this law.
09:54And coming out from the mouth of the Congress person, I think it is not acceptable.
09:58There has to be a line which can be drawn.
10:00All the time you give past examples to justify your wrongdoings, I think that is not accepted.
10:05And that's why all the Congress workers, this is not the first time, maybe this is the 13th, 14th debate
10:10I am attending,
10:10where the same kind of things are repeated again and again, but with the new people all the time.
10:15So I think Congress party must withstand from doing this kind of activities and stooping so low in the public
10:22recourse.
10:23All right, Rohindra, your time is over and I'll come back to you.
10:26But the fact is, and you are bang on, you are right.
10:29I think everybody has gotten sick of the kind of language that is being used by politicians in public discourse.
10:34But, and once again, some would say this is monkey balancing, but if you set the template, you have to
10:42play by the rules.
10:43And it's not happened once, it's not happened twice, it's come from either sides.
10:47Not just Malikarjun Kharge, many from the Congress have used highly derogatory unparliamentary language,
10:52which has been not just replied to, but also separately, there have been attacks that have been launched in similar
10:59language by the BJP as well.
11:00I want to bring in, at this point of time, the Congress spokesperson, Rahul Singh Khalija.
11:05Rahul Singh Khalija, if it comes in from, let's say, somebody else from the Congress, if it comes in from
11:11a small leader,
11:13one can argue it out, but it comes in from the Congress president.
11:18There has to be some amount of respect, decorum, decency.
11:23It comes in also from the leader of opposition, Rajya Sabha.
11:28Right, you said, Preeti, but I would like to first clarify that whatever Mr. Kharge said was not a mistake.
11:36It was very intentionally said, and while fighting the pigs, one can't really keep their hands clean.
11:44This is a template, you rightly said, set by the Bharati Janta Party.
11:48They're talking about the mothers and the elders, right?
11:55Sir, your video is not working. Can you continue?
11:58If they can talk about the Pachas Karod ki girlfriend, they can talk about late Indira Gandhi ji,
12:04they can, Yogi ji can say whatever to people,
12:08then I think Kharge ji is pretty close to Narendra Modi ji's father, who is not there with us anymore.
12:13And when he gets heckled by a stooge sent by the Bharati Janta Party,
12:19then he has the right to call out that person.
12:21And he has the right to use the same template which the Bharati Janta Party has said.
12:27We will not apologize for what Kharge ji said.
12:30And the Bharati Janta Party will get the replies in their own language from this time on.
12:37It started yesterday and it will continue.
12:39Whatever Mr. Kharge said about the former Chief Minister of Gujarat was very intentional.
12:46And we do not apologize for that.
12:49This was a template set by the Bharati Janta Party.
12:52We are just following the template.
12:54But Rahul, can I hold your timer and I'll hold it and I want to come in.
12:57You know, you might say it's a template.
13:00But the fact is, how does, let's say, two wrongs make a right?
13:04It doesn't, no?
13:06It doesn't and hence I made my point.
13:10While fighting the pigs, one can't keep their hands clean.
13:13This is a language that the Bharati Janta Party understand.
13:15They don't understand the language of decency.
13:17We tried for 12 long years.
13:18They do not understand the decency language.
13:21They understand this language only.
13:22They only understand the rough, rugged talk.
13:26And they have proven it time and again.
13:30Well, okay, Rahul Singh, but the fact is, it's not the first time.
13:33If you say that the BJP set the template, no.
13:36It's been, you know, I think, equally divided.
13:38Can one forget the language of Tanjmal?
13:41It came from the likes of you and your leaders.
13:43But I'll come back and I'll circle back to you.
13:45I want to bring in Rajat Sethi into this conversation as well as Ashutosh.
13:48Rajat Sethi, you know, discourse in public politics is at an all-time low,
13:54much expected from either sides of the divide.
13:56Politically, now it's being milked.
14:02See, well, Preeti Ji, I, you know, it's just, you know, hearing the Congress spokesperson speak,
14:09the kind of language that he was using is just symptomatic of this malice only getting deepening
14:17and getting worse by the day.
14:19They are unapologetic.
14:20Clearly, their president has something.
14:22What can they do?
14:23The whole party is under a dog whistle that this is the language that you have to speak
14:26because the president has spoken.
14:28This is what happens when the senior most party functionary says and uses such language.
14:32Can't help it.
14:34Absolutely deplorable state of politics in our country.
14:36When Mr. Biduri uttered those words in the parliament,
14:39I was on your show and I remember I was appalled and I literally,
14:42I could not hold myself with the kind of absolutely derogatory words that he used.
14:47In fact, they should have been.
14:48He is now nowhere in politics, but this is the treatment that should have been meted out to him.
14:52Far worse also.
14:53But what do you do with Mr. Khadage?
14:55Should he be kicked out of the party?
14:56Who will kick him out?
14:57He is himself the president.
14:59So the problem with the Congress party is that this signaling is going from the very top.
15:03And somehow what is happening is that they've taken this angry party mode.
15:07That, you know, when things are not working our way, we will go to the other extreme.
15:11We will elbow people.
15:12We will hurt people.
15:14We will abuse people and have this very feisty kind of an approach as if that is working.
15:18I don't understand where did this Mohabbat ki Dukaan, you know,
15:21go all those holdings from Mohabbat ki Dukaan have been removed
15:24and Jair ki Dukaan has been put in place.
15:26Now what, if you think that having this Jair ki Dukaan on display,
15:30you are going to win and garner votes for you,
15:33then that is a foolish strategy.
15:34But who am I to guide the Congress party if they feel in all their collective wisdom
15:39that they can go out and out and keep on abusing,
15:41go all the way to the Supreme Court and then apologize before the Supreme Court.
15:45The way Mr. Rahul Gandhi apologized when he said, you know,
15:49Chawki Das Choh Hai and all, he had to apologize before the Supreme Court.
15:52There are still several cases going on.
15:54See, this is a cycle and this is a habit.
15:56They believe this is how they will energize their base.
15:58But what they don't understand while they're energizing their base,
16:01the public is getting de-energized around Congress party.
16:03Okay.
16:04Rajat, your time is over.
16:05You know, you're right, it's cyclical.
16:07And I think it cuts across party lines.
16:10Because if it's coming from the top today,
16:12if as deplorable as it is,
16:13if Malik Arjun Khadge is invoking, you know,
16:17the dead father of our prime minister,
16:19then you had a year and a half ago,
16:22the home minister invoking the dead mother of the leader of opposition,
16:25the dead grandmother of the leader of opposition.
16:28It's the same.
16:29But, you know, I bring in Ashutosh into this conversation.
16:32Ashutosh, because where does the buck stop in all of this?
16:35How low are we actually going to fall?
16:37Where are, you know, there has to be some limit to public discourse.
16:41See, Preeti, but why the buck should stop?
16:44Why it should stop at all?
16:45I want this discourse to go much, much deeper, much bitter, much polarized,
16:52so that...
16:53It's a mockery of the people who voted you then, Ashutosh.
16:56It has to stop.
16:57No, no, no.
16:57No, no.
16:57Let...
16:58Hear me out.
16:59Hear me out.
17:00So that we, the people, should realize what kind of leaders we are choosing
17:05for the higher constitutional post.
17:08The people should realize this.
17:10And I can tell you that there was a time when such, such, such, such language was not acceptable.
17:17No.
17:18And anybody who used to indulge in these kind of languages used to get the punishment from
17:22the party's top bosses.
17:24But not anymore.
17:26See, it's very simple.
17:28If you, if somebody's mother is being called all kinds of names and abused on a live TV
17:36debate, and the top leaders are not reacting to that, rather it gets a kind of a, kind of
17:44a, you got some kind of a badge of honor.
17:47And you continue as a, as a party spokesperson.
17:50If somebody who abuses a, a fellow member of parliament on the floor of the house, and he gets
17:58promotion, then the BJP has no right to complain about it.
18:02Did Amit Shah ever apologize for, for, for, for the kind of language used for the, for the Indira Gandhi?
18:10Did BJP ever punish, penalize Nishikan Dube for, uh, uh, calling, uh,
18:16Because the Congress is not kosher in this, is it?
18:18No, no, no, no.
18:19I'm saying, I'm saying, I'm saying, did, did, did BJP top leadership ever ask Nishikan Dube
18:26not to indulge in those kind of languages?
18:29Did ever?
18:29No.
18:31So then the BJP has no right to, to, uh, uh, uh, to, to, to play the victim card.
18:37It's simply a victim.
18:38It's not, it will not work.
18:40It has never worked.
18:42The politics has become so bad, so bitter, so polarized.
18:45That now don't expect decency from either of the part, either of, uh, uh, from any of
18:50the political party or any of the political parties.
18:52But, you know, Ashutosh, the fact is when you say it's never worked, well, some would
18:55think it has worked every time, uh, the prime minister's mother has been drawn into, it
19:00seemingly worked in Bihar.
19:02Some would think in parts, in pockets, when the prime minister's mother was insulted.
19:06I'll come back to you, sir.
19:07Allow me to come back.
19:08So can the BJP use it politically?
19:11Rohan Gupta, you might say, no, we have no intention to.
19:13It's just terrible language and why will we use it politically?
19:16But it's already being used.
19:18You're taken to the streets.
19:19Each and every, uh, leader of yours, right from top bottom, is invoking it.
19:25First November, you are protesting it on the streets of the national capital and across
19:30the country.
19:30So you're hoping that you make political capital of what was a highly derogatory statement
19:37by the Congress president.
19:40See, Priti, whatever we say in debate, you know, the people of the country decides what
19:44is right and what is wrong.
19:45If something is wrong, obviously, as a, as a party, we have to take it to the streets.
19:50And this is not acceptable.
19:51Prime minister being insulted again and again.
19:53And again, see, this is the problem of Congress party.
19:55They have paid the price again and again that even after that, they don't want to learn.
19:59See, we are not the people who are going to decide.
20:01The BJP is not going to decide the mood of the people.
20:04And you are rightly told.
20:05Even in Bihar, people have replied to these kind of things.
20:08Why to indulge into this?
20:09And again, justifying that.
20:10You have to, again, you repeat the same thing 20 years, 30 years, again and again.
20:15And coming from your top person.
20:18He is the top person of the Congress party.
20:20But Rohan Gupta, it's come from your top person as well.
20:24What makes you holier than thou?
20:26What makes you take the high moral ground?
20:29See, again, again, Priti, I'm saying what I've clearly told.
20:32If you refer to the examples 20, 30 years before and again repeat the same thing.
20:36No, I'll refer to the example of 2024.
20:38Elections after elections.
20:39I'll refer to the example of 2024.
20:41See, the context.
20:42No, you are.
20:42See, there are.
20:43It's a different context.
20:44When he was referring to that, he was referring to Indira Gandhiji because he was the prime minister.
20:48No, he's not referring to Indira Gandhiji.
20:50One second, I'll hold your timer.
20:52He wasn't referring to Indira Gandhiji.
20:53We can play the soundbite for you.
20:55He spoke of Rahul Gandhi's nani.
20:57That he's Sonia Gandhi's mother, who's not even in politics.
21:01That's what I'm saying.
21:03Again, again, I'm not justifying, Priti, I'm not justifying anybody's comments here.
21:08What I'm trying to say, just saying that, okay, we have done this, so you will do this.
21:13Till what time you will do it?
21:14And let the people decide who is right and who is wrong.
21:17It is our responsibility as right as a BJP to go to the people.
21:20Let the people decide.
21:22If Mr. Kharge feels that by doing that, they will win the trust of people, we are okay with that.
21:26But I don't think so.
21:27This is justified at any point.
21:29Whether it is by X, Y, Z.
21:31As in a public discourse, we have to ensure that this kind of language should be controlled and not coming
21:36from the top people.
21:37People of the country decides what is right and what is wrong.
21:39And we should leave it to the people of the country.
21:42But again and again, again and again, coming every next day, Mr. Rahul Gandhi from the state, just before 15
21:48days, in Chhatro Ki Gonj, he was mocking Mr. Modi.
21:51Every day you should do the same thing.
21:53Is he a prime minister or just the reason for you to joke every day?
21:58You cannot do that.
21:59You absolutely cannot do that.
22:01And let the people decide.
22:03We are happy if Congress Party doesn't want to learn out of this thing.
22:06We are more than okay with that.
22:07We are going to the court of people.
22:09Let's do that.
22:09Okay, fair point.
22:11I want to bring in Rahul Singh from the Congress into this conversation back.
22:14Rahul Singh, the fact is, Rohan Gupta has a point.
22:18They are happy because let the people decide.
22:20Every time you have gone after the prime minister's mother, this time the father, or the prime minister himself, it's
22:26backfired.
22:27And politically, once again, this might be not a politically astute thing to do.
22:35Yesterday, everybody saw, if you play the video in entirety, how 85-year-old Congress President was heckled by a
22:43BJP stooge.
22:45And now, for the comment that he made, the Bhatajanta Party is protesting on the 1st of November.
22:52This is a party which acts in oxymorons.
22:55Until yesterday, they were saying no protests should be scheduled on the 1st of November, because the 1st of November,
23:00the Sikh riots happened in Delhi, and now they are themselves staging protests on the 1st of November.
23:04I mean, what do I even say about these people?
23:07There is a bunch of morons acting in oxymorons.
23:11But regardless...
23:12I would urge you not to get into...
23:13Just keep the abuses out.
23:14No?
23:15Yeah.
23:15So, I mean, that's a pretty parliamentary word, Preeti, though.
23:19It's not an unparliamentary word, but regardless, I mean, you rightly said, where does the Congress Party stop?
23:28I'll tell you where does the Congress Party stop.
23:30The Congress Party will stop when the Bhatajanta Party stop now.
23:33They started it.
23:34They have to end it.
23:35They started making below-the-belt comments on the people who are not there with us today.
23:40They made comments on Jawaharlal Nehru.
23:42They made comments on Indira Gandhi.
23:43They made comments on the entire Gandhi family and the people of the country.
23:48They made comments on Ankita Bhandari's parents and whosoever spoke against them,
23:53whosoever did not align with their ideology, whosoever did not align with what they say.
23:59And we will stop only when the Bhatajanta Party stop.
24:0385-year-old man gets heckled in a public meeting.
24:06Is that justified?
24:08Whatever happens on the floor of the parliament, whatever Amish Biduri says, is that justified?
24:13Whatever Chinwayanan does or whatever Brijbushan Sharand Singh does, is all of that justified?
24:19No.
24:19But BJP is just fixated on making everything a political agenda because they are left with none.
24:27They cannot talk about the work that they have done.
24:29They cannot talk about whatever the country is talking.
24:31If they have to protest, come protest with the students.
24:33Come protest with the people protesting against SIR and CEC.
24:38No, but they won't.
24:38They can only make everything about Narendra Modi.
24:41It's a megalomaniac party.
24:43Okay.
24:44Well, it's final comments, Rajat Sethi, to bring you in on this final comment, sir.
24:50Two minutes time.
24:52So, well, Preeti ji, I just heard the Congress spokesperson, the kind of language that he uses, just showcases what
25:00his party is made up of, what kind of mentoring leaders like Mr. Kharge is providing to these youngsters.
25:07They will turn out to be bigger abusers going forward.
25:11This is quite evident.
25:12Any of you viewers can look up as to what kind of languages have just been uttered on live television.
25:17You can imagine what all can happen once they are given a free reign.
25:21Again, my point here is very straightforward.
25:22You can point out whether he was heckled or not.
25:25In fact, there are a lot of reports that the gentleman who was in that meeting in a half-filled
25:29hall was actually a congress worker.
25:32He said that you will not when Modi will come back because you have so much of organizational mess that
25:36you are not ready to clear.
25:37This is the only problem with the Congress party.
25:44Instead, they want to keep on deflecting and make personal jibes, shift, make own self-goals.
25:49I think this was one of the biggest self-goals when the entire focus was around the 1st of November
25:53meeting and rally.
25:55They committed this self-goal and allowed the BJP and its entire cadre base to spill out on the streets
26:01of Patna and change the momentum entirely.
26:03So, if you keep on doing mistakes,
26:08the Congress party is trying to carry this image of this angry old party.
26:14I don't know what are they trying to gain out of this whole thing.
26:17This is something which I, from an analyst perspective, I am unable to understand.
26:21They are not winning voters when you are abusing people.
26:24It's not like five additional voters are getting added because you have abused the father of the Honorable Prime Minister
26:29or you are abusing the mother of the Prime Minister.
26:32You won't get an additional vote.
26:33Whom are you trying to basically, you know, orient your messages around?
26:38Therefore, I don't expect much from Congress party.
26:42These are the true colors.
26:43This is the true DNA of this, you know, hyper-aggressive, emergency-unleashing party.
26:49The kind of sick, riot-unleashing party.
26:52This is what they do.
26:53This is the language which is very close to them, very natural.
26:56Therefore, this entire mohabbat ki dukaan was a sharaad.
26:59Okay.
27:00The gloves are off, it seems, Ashutosh.
27:03The language which was on social media sometimes being peddled by bona fide party handles.
27:09Beat the Congress and the BJP.
27:11Now, you know, it's all out.
27:13It's all out there.
27:16See, Priti, I did a little research and I found out that who started this.
27:23April 2004, then Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Narendra Modi, called Sonia Gandhi, Jarsikau.
27:33And Rahul Gandhi, hybrid bacha, hybrid bachala.
27:36That was in April 2004.
27:392007, Sonia Gandhi called Maut ka Sadagar.
27:44Now, the bogey which is being created, that's in Sonia Gandhi called Maut ka Sadagar.
27:48So, that is acceptable.
27:50But when Prime Minister, as a Chief Minister, when he was campaigning for the 2004 parliamentary election,
27:56he used these kind of languages.
27:57So, where we go from here?
28:00You call somebody's wife as a 40-krona girlfriend and then you get a sermon,
28:07that this is not the language.
28:10Then, who's to be blamed?
28:12But let's also talk about this.
28:15Does it get any brownie points with the people?
28:18Does anybody get benefited out of it?
28:20No.
28:21It's a myth.
28:22It's a myth that the 2014 parliamentary election was decided because somebody called Manishankar
28:28a year used certain language against the Prime Minister.
28:30No.
28:31If Indian politics is so simple, election is so simple, then anybody can abuse anybody
28:37and can win the election or they lose the election.
28:39That's not a fact.
28:40The fact of the matter is that in 2014, the Congress had serious problems with the voters
28:47and that's why the Congress lost.
28:48So, this bogey that somebody is abusing Prime Minister and that is why Congress is losing
28:53the battle, it's oversimplification.
28:56And I can tell you from my experience, after 2014, the kind of language has been used against
29:01me, the personal attacks which I have suffered in the last 12 years, from where it came.
29:08Before 2014, I was running a TV channel and the head of the channel and an anchor never used, never
29:15got these kind of languages from any political party.
29:17So, why this is started after 2014 in the national discourse on the TV channel?
29:51Sir, time is up.
29:53Sir, time is up.
30:01It's a problem.
30:03It's clear.
30:06action plan. Great. Staggered office timings, a proposed 50% work from home mandate and curbs
30:13and construction activities are among the measures. But from the 1st of November, vehicles
30:19registered outside Delhi that do not meet BS6 norms. And these vehicles this time are
30:25even petrol vehicles, not just diesel vehicles. They will be barred from entering the capital.
30:32So let me say that again. From November 1st, vehicles registered outside Delhi that do
30:38not meet BS6 norms will be barred from entering the capital. Delhi registered vehicles along
30:44with CNG and electric vehicles are exempt from the restrictions. So if you have a Delhi number,
30:49you're exempt. If you have a CNG vehicle, you're exempt. The impact though of this, especially
30:55for cars where Delhi NCR region is concerned. So you're talking about cars which come in
30:59from UP, Noida, Ghaziabad, Haryana, Gurgaon, Faridabad. The impact for them could be massive.
31:08Over 10 lakh NCR vehicles fall below BS6 standards, according to the transport department estimates.
31:16Noida, Greater Noida account for over 4 lakh such vehicles. Ghaziabad for about 4 lakh vehicles
31:23and Gurugram and Gurugram and Faridabad of nearly 2 lakh. In Gurugram, Faridabad, about 70% of these
31:30vehicles are BS3 and BS4. This ban comes into force from the 1st of November and will be in place
31:38till January 31st, 2027. So nearly three months, 10 lakh vehicles will be challenged if they are found
31:49within the Delhi permissible limits. This, for these 10 lakh vehicles, someone would,
31:57some could suggest, is transferring the onus of battling with pollution onto consumers. Listen in.
32:32All right, so that is the new
32:34pollution plan, but is it also a punishment plan for the commuters of the national capital? Many
32:40come into Delhi to work and keeping 10 lakh vehicles might be great because the air is horrid during this
32:47time. The smog doesn't lift. So it is a plan in action, but have we shifted the onus on consumers
32:55as a debate? That continues. Connecting now to my colleague Shreya, who's joining us for more. Shreya,
33:01what more can you add? There will be heavily challenged if vehicles that do not comply with
33:08the standards that we just gave out are found in Delhi. What does it mean?
33:12Well, absolutely, Preeti. And you know, this is not for vehicles in Delhi. This is for vehicles
33:17around the NCR region. So primarily, if you're traveling from Gurugram, Faridabad,
33:22Noida. And if you do not comply the BS6 norm, then you will not be able to enter the national
33:27capital
33:27from 1st of November onwards. And this ban will actually be existing till 31st of January. So
33:33that's a long time period. A lot of people who actually work in Delhi, but actually stay outside,
33:38they will largely be affected by this. The transport department, in tandem with the
33:43entire pollution measurement that's happening, they say this is also to promote the
33:48public transport system. And they say this is something that will be helping to combat the
33:52entire pollution problem that persists in the national capital. There will be certain exemptions
33:58like CNG electric vehicles, ambulances, fire services, and some essential service vehicles
34:03will be exempted from this, but largely a rough estimation of 10 lakh vehicles, which is a huge number.
34:09They will be affected from the 1st of November onward till the 31st of January, 2027.
34:15Thank you, Shreya, for joining us and giving us those details. Well, for now, 10 lakh vehicles,
34:20which include petrol vehicles this time, will be kept out of Delhi, practically. The vehicles,
34:27like Shreya also pointed out, coming in from Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad,
34:33and Gurgaon will be kept out. We'll keep getting our viewers more updates on that. With that,
34:39I want to quickly cut across to the latest coming in from the Jamia Millia Islamia University. Students
34:44of the university have now been protesting for restoration of the Elected Students' Union,
34:49which was dissolved in 2006, with five students on hunger strike since October 12. Despite the
34:56administration offering elections within 15 days of the union constitution's approval and revoking
35:01disciplinary notices, students say it's not enough. With no deadline for approving the constitution,
35:07protesters are demanding a firm timeline and refusing to call off their agitation. Here's the full report.
35:32A 20-year wait, a 14-day protest, and still no breakthrough.
35:50At Jamia Millia Islamia, students are demanding the restoration of the elected union dissolved in 2006.
35:59Five students are on hunger strike since October 12. Their demands, a fixed election schedule,
36:08withdrawal of disciplinary action, and the removal of the university's chief proctor and security advisor.
36:15After days of deadlock, the administration has announced elections within 15 days of the Students'
36:20Union constitution being approved. It has also revoked suspension and show cause notices,
36:27and promised an inquiry into security personnel's conduct. But there is a catch. No deadline for
36:33approving the constitution. The order also requires students to apologize publicly for alleged
36:40defamatory statements and remove related social media posts. The protesters have rejected the notice
36:47demanding approval of the constitution by December 20 and elections within 15 days of the approval.
36:58Right now, they have said that they have not given a specific date. We are just asking for the
37:03specific date where the election will be conducted, when the constitution will be drafted for the
37:09election, and when it will be approved.
37:11We are just asking for the student union. The second is the chief proctor and the security advisor.
37:18And the third is the sole cause notice and the disability commission will be revoked on the students.
37:43And the standoff has spilt onto the streets.
37:52With police and paramilitary forces deployed at the gates, students have been detained as they try to
37:58enter campus. Some climb the gates and walls to get inside.
38:07The university has shifted classes online and closed key facilities amid security concerns.
38:18The agitation has also triggered a political controversy. Delhi police have registered an
38:24FIR against three MPs, including Congress leaders Imran Masood and Imran Pratapgari,
38:30following a university complaint, alleging trespass and incitement of unrest.
38:38The
38:38RSS people have been
38:40given a registrar, they have also been sent to the FIR.
38:43Who is writing the scissors?
38:44The scissors are drawing the scissors?
38:46The scissors are drawing the scissors to throw the scissors.
38:48They are drawing the scissors to go and the people's view.
38:51They are not aware of the people.
38:53They are going to go to their father's university.
38:54They are going to trespass.
38:56They are not going to see their children.
38:58They are going to die from their children.
39:03At Jamia, the fight is no longer just over elections.
39:07It is over whether the administration will give students a firm timeline.
39:15With Anmol Bali, Bureau Report, India Today.
39:24Connecting to colleague Anmol Bali who is joining me from Jamia with the latest there.
39:28Anmol, the administration says that they've submitted to the students' demand, yet the students continue the protest. Why?
39:36Priti, as you know, for the last more than 12 days, we are seeing that a protest and hunger strike
39:41is taking place in the Jamia Miliya Salamiya University
39:43because after 20 years, the students in the campus, they are demanding for student council elections.
39:49And today in the morning, we have seen that a notice came from the registrar office where they have said
39:53that they have,
39:54they will be conducting, again, they will be conducting student council elections in the campus.
40:01But on the other, the students have said that they need a specific timeline, a date, that when the student
40:06polls will take place.
40:08And today also we have seen dramatic visuals outside the campus where hundreds of female protesters have gathered outside the
40:15campus.
40:15They were trying to enter inside the Jamia Miliya Salamiya, but on the other hand, we have seen the paramilitary
40:20forces and Delhi police personnel were preventing students to enter inside the campus
40:24so they can sit with their protesting comrades inside the university campus.
40:30And we have also seen the Delhi police action taking place.
40:32Many of the students were detained by the Delhi police and the paramilitary forces.
40:36So we are seeing this deadlock is kind of intensifying between both the university administration and the Jamia Miliya Salamiya
40:43students.
40:44Those are clearly saying that they won't be budging from their place.
40:46They won't be stopping their hunger strike because still two students are sitting on hunger strike in Jamia Miliya Salamiya
40:53University at gate number seven.
40:55They have clearly mentioned that when the university will give them a specific date,
40:59then on what date they will conduct the student union election, on that day they will end their hunger strike
41:05and their protest.
41:06Well, thanks, Anmul, for joining us with that quick update.
41:09From a staged remark to a social media roast, Donald Trump is once again making headlines for his comments about
41:16a woman's appearance.
41:18This time, it's rapper Nicki Minaj, a Woku Trump supporter who has now found herself at the center of a
41:25wider movement.
41:27Embarrassing for not her so much, but for the president.
41:30While the internet turns the exchange into memes, the incident has reignited a larger debate,
41:35where does humor end, where does disrespect begin?
41:39Take a look and judge for yourselves.
41:42By the way, I looked at one hell of a beautiful s**t before, Nicki Minaj.
41:48Another day, another remark, and another controversy surrounding U.S. President Donald Trump.
41:57This time, the moment came on stage with rapper Nicki Minaj, when Trump made a remark about her body, that
42:05many found inappropriate.
42:09By the way, I looked at one hell of a beautiful s**t before, Nicki Minaj.
42:18That's hard to miss.
42:21The comment has sparked a fresh round of online reactions.
42:25But, here's the context.
42:27Minaj has openly declared herself Trump's number one fan, and has repeatedly voiced her support for the U.S. President.
42:47And the internet wasted no time weighing in.
42:50From sarcastic memes to sharp jibes, social media users turned the moment into a fresh trolling pest.
42:58Some even joked that Minaj could be Trump's next White House press secretary.
43:04Good morning, everyone.
43:05I am Nicki Minaj, the new White House press secretary, and I am here to drop bars on you.
43:09This is finito.
43:10I call my car Rico because it's paid in full.
43:12Baby, my car don't get repoed.
43:13But, this is not the first time Trump's remarks about women have raised eyebrows.
43:19Last year, he made a controversial comment about then-White House press secretary, Caroline Levitt.
43:28You put me in a position where there's absolutely nothing to grab.
43:33Mr. President.
43:34So, I'm looking for something to grab, and it's not going to be Caroline.
43:38And he has also made remarks about his wife, Melania Trump, that drew attention to her undergarments.
43:46My wife's closet, and I'll say this, number one, it's very bad, but it sounds a little strange.
43:55They looked at her drawers, but everything is perfect.
44:01Her undergarments, sometimes referred to as panties, are folded, perfect, wrapped.
44:10They're like so perfect.
44:12I said, that's beautiful.
44:13You know, it's the part of the world she came from.
44:14Everything was perfect.
44:16No problem.
44:17Fall, fall, fall.
44:18I think that she steams them.
44:19Make sure.
44:20They just sit in.
44:22From public appearances to personal references.
44:26Trump's remarks have repeatedly triggered debate over where humor ends and disrespect begins.
44:32So, where do we draw the line?
