00:07Thor stretches out his hand, Mjolnir tears free, and it lands in the palm of a man he
00:13just called impossible, now the newest Avengers doomsday spot shows that same man and Thor
00:19vanishing in a flash of bifrost light, destination unknown, some fans swear the man isn't even
00:26Steve Rogers, and if the other theory is right, the answer is waiting inside an agency that
00:32exists outside of time.
00:34Ok, let's start with the accusation, because it's the loudest one online.
00:38Is the bearded Steve Rogers in these trailers actually Loki in disguise?
00:43The case is easy to understand.
00:45In the trailer, Thor's reaction is blunt, it's not possible.
00:49Steve's hair is long and ragged, there's a little smirk that follows him through nearly
00:54every shot, and Marvel has played this exact trick before.
00:58In 2013's Thor The Dark World, Loki shapeshifts into Captain America right in front of Thor,
01:04and the cameo was performed by Chris Evans himself.
01:08Tom Hiddleston has said he filmed the moment first, in the actual Cap costume, and Evans
01:13then performed an impression of Hiddleston's impression of him.
01:17So yes, this studio has a real history of putting Chris Evans in a Loki costume.
01:22But here's the snag, Mjolnir only answers to someone worthy, and in the trailer, the
01:28hammer answers.
01:30Several outlets read that moment as proof this is the genuine Steve Rogers, not a trick.
01:35Which leaves a much better question, if it really is him, where has he been?
01:41To answer that, we have to go back to the end of Endgame.
01:44Steve returns the infinity stones, chooses a different life, and the film closes on a
01:49dance with Peggy Carter.
01:51For years, that was the whole story.
01:54Then came Endgame Encore, and it changed the ending.
01:58In the middle of that dance, someone knocks on the door, Steve ducks out of sight, Peggy
02:03opens it, and standing there, in a TVA uniform, is Loki.
02:08Now, to see why that matters, you need to know the TVA.
02:11The Time Variance Authority is the bureaucracy that polices the timeline, and in its early
02:17days, it pruned any branch reality that spun off from the main one.
02:21Marvel has confirmed that Steve's life with Peggy created exactly that kind of branch.
02:27So Steve has been living in a reality the TVA would normally erase.
02:31And Encore adds the other half.
02:33In a post-credits scene at the TVA, an officer announces the multiverse is collapsing, and
02:39reports roll in of universes being destroyed, from 3, to 100, to 1,000, to 3,000, according
02:47to Empire's rundown.
02:48So, Loki knows Steve's secret, and somehow, Steve has information Thor needs.
02:55Now put those pieces back on the board, and look at the scene everyone is arguing about.
02:59In this latest spot, Thor and Steve stand on what looks like a deck.
03:04Thor holds Stormbreaker, the axe that can summon the Bifrost, and the two of them get
03:09beamed away somewhere we're never shown.
03:12Our read, and I want to be clear this is a theory, not a confirmed fact, is that they're
03:17headed to the TVA.
03:19Here's why.
03:20Steve could tell Thor what Loki told him, that Loki was the one who moved him to that
03:25branch, and that the multiverse is coming apart.
03:27And Thor would drop everything for a chance to see his brother.
03:32We think we spotted a small detail in the trailer footage, Loki leaving Thor with a card, maybe
03:38a way to reach him.
03:39We can't verify that from anything official, so file it under our read, not under fact.
03:45If that's where they're going, it kills the Steve is Loki idea.
03:49Unless it doesn't.
03:50You could argue Loki, wearing Steve's face, is leading Thor to the TVA to show him that
03:57Doom is not the ally he pretends to be.
03:59But the timing is awkward.
04:01This moment seems to land right after Thor's speech warning everyone how dangerous Doom is.
04:07Thor already knows.
04:08So what would Loki be revealing?
04:11If you're enjoying this breakdown, this is a good moment to smash the like button.
04:15It genuinely helps us put these videos in front of more MCU fans.
04:20Now, if Steve and Thor are racing to the TVA, there's a darker possibility.
04:24A scooper known as Majestic underscore UCM claimed back in March that Thor and Steve arrived too
04:31late.
04:32According to that claim, Doom hits the TVA first and the Loki from the series dies with everyone
04:38else there.
04:39Other leaks have pointed in the same direction, but Marvel hasn't confirmed any of it, so
04:44treat it as rumor.
04:45And if it's true, that card in Thor's hand becomes tragic, a way to reach someone who's
04:51already gone.
04:52There's one more theory, and it's the wildest on the table.
04:56Remember the older Steve from Endgame?
04:59The one who hands Sam Wilson the shield?
05:01Some fans think that old Steve isn't just retired.
05:04He might be looping back through events that were already written.
05:08When Sam asks whether Steve will tell him about Peggy, Steve answers, no, I don't think
05:13I will.
05:14The theory says he stayed quiet because he knows what's coming.
05:17Some even speculate he could be carrying a shield taken from a fallen Sam.
05:22To be clear, that is fan speculation, there's no sourced reporting behind it.
05:28But it does point at something true.
05:30This is not the same Captain America.
05:32This is a man who gave everything, then chose a quieter life with his family.
05:38Maybe the smile that looks suspicious is just the smile of someone who finally got to rest.
05:44So let me ask you, be honest.
05:46Is that Steve a changed man?
05:48Or is Loki wearing his face?
05:50Pick a side in the comments, I genuinely want to know.
05:54Let's talk about the other thing this spot gave us, the first real joke in the doomsday
05:59marketing.
06:00Thor, now the de facto leader of this crowd, is trying to settle who gets to lead.
06:05Steve's back, Sam Wilson carries the shield, and Ant-Man jokes that he was capped for a
06:10minute too, until the whole room is stumbling over Captain's America.
06:14It's a small gag, but it matters.
06:17Until now, the trailers have been grim.
06:20And that connects to a rumor you may have heard.
06:23One report claimed Disney executives watching early cuts worried the film felt too dark,
06:28with too much death.
06:30But Variety reported the opposite, that executives are pleased with what they've seen, and that
06:35rival studio heads privately expect doomsday to be the year's highest grossing film.
06:40Unofficial screening reactions have been all over the place, and we don't know who these
06:45people are or what their biases might be.
06:48So take every early report with a grain of salt, including ours.
06:53One more thing worth noticing.
06:54In the Avengers Tower scene from the earlier trailer, we see Thor, Ant-Man, Sam Wilson and
07:00the Fantastic Four, but not Steve.
07:03Fans read that as unfinished CGI, with some characters not yet composited in.
07:08That's a reasonable read, but Marvel hasn't said so.
07:12If you've made it this far, hit that like button one more time.
07:16It tells YouTube this kind of deep dive is worth showing to more people.
07:20So here's where we stand.
07:22Avengers Doomsday opens December 18th, 2026, with Robert Downey Jr. as Dr. Doom, and Steve
07:29Rogers' return was confirmed back in the very first teaser.
07:32Everything else we just walked through, the TVA destination, Loki's fate, the looping cap,
07:38remains a theory until the movie says otherwise.
07:41So what's your call?
07:43Where are Thor and Steve actually headed?
07:45And is the man holding Mjolnir the real Steve Rogers?
07:49Drop it in the comments.
