00:07In Marvel's newest Avengers Doomsday trailer, a man holds out his hand and Thor's hammer
00:13flies into it.
00:15Mjolnir only answers the worthy, so that should settle who he is, right?
00:19Not everybody thinks so.
00:21Some fans now believe the man holding that hammer isn't Steve Rogers at all, and one
00:27well-known Marvel insider says this footage was cut to point you toward the wrong destination
00:32entirely.
00:33So what is this trailer really showing us?
00:36And what is it hiding?
00:38Here's what you're getting in this video.
00:40First, everything that's actually new in this trailer, beat by beat.
00:45Second, the Captain America joke that got the internet arguing and why it hit a nerve.
00:50Third, where Thor and Steve are really headed, because the answer might not be what Marvel
00:56wants you to think.
00:57Fourth, the full case for and against the theory that this Steve isn't Steve.
01:02And finally, what people who've seen the movie are reportedly saying, including the
01:07runtime, Doctor Doom and a post-credits scene.
01:10And at the end, I'll tell you which side of the Steve debate I'm on.
01:13Let's start with why this footage matters so much.
01:17At the end of Avengers Endgame, Steve Rogers uses the time platform to return the Infinity
01:22Stones, then stays behind in the past to build a life with Peggy Carter.
01:26He comes back as an old man and hands his shield to Sam Wilson.
01:30For six years, that was the end of his story.
01:34Then, late last year, Marvel's first Doomsday teaser opened with a simple title card saying,
01:40Steve Rogers will return.
01:42It showed him in a quiet domestic scene with a baby.
01:45In July, the first full trailer followed, with Thor giving a speech about standing together
01:51against Doctor Doom, and ending with Thor and Steve face-to-face.
01:55Doomsday is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, stars Robert Downey Jr. as Victor Von Doom,
02:01and arrives December 18th.
02:03That's less than two months away.
02:05Now here's the new piece.
02:07Marvel released it on Saturday, October 24th, about a day after a baseball-themed promo aired
02:13during the World Series.
02:14It's short, roughly 30 seconds, so think of it less as a trailer and more as a very dense
02:20TV spot.
02:21But it's packed with new footage instead of recycled shots, which is rare for modern marketing.
02:27It opens on Steve, and this is a different looking Steve.
02:32Long hair, a beard, a far cry from the clean-shaven dad in that first teaser.
02:37Keep that detail in your back pocket, because it matters later.
02:40Steve is holding Mjolnir, and tells Thor, let's go.
02:44Near the end, he asks Thor whether it bothers him that he can still lift the hammer, and
02:49Thor says, you know it does.
02:51It's a callback to Endgame, where Steve lifted Mjolnir and Thor shouted that he knew it.
02:57Same hammer, same two friends, and this time, a little jealousy.
03:01Then, they take off into the sky on the Bifrost.
03:04Thor's weapon, Stormbreaker, is what lets him summon the Bifrost, as we saw in Infinity War.
03:10But we'll come back to that, because the Bifrost might be the most misleading thing in the whole clip.
03:16First, the joke.
03:17This is the scene everyone's talking about.
03:20It takes place at New Avengers Tower.
03:23Scott Lang, Ant-Man, is wrapping up a planning session and says, then it's settled, right Cap?
03:28Steve turns around, but Scott was looking at Sam Wilson, the current Captain America, so
03:34he corrects himself with, I mean, right Cap?
03:37Then John Walker, the former Captain America, who now goes by US Agent, jumps in with the
03:43line that he was capped for a minute, too, and Scott gives up and addresses the whole
03:47room as Captain America.
03:50Three men in one room, who have all carried that title.
03:53Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, and John Walker.
03:57It's a clean, funny way to acknowledge something the MCU spent years setting up.
04:02A longer seven-second cut of the exchange has since surfaced, showing Scott talking directly
04:07with Walker.
04:08Now, if you're enjoying this breakdown, take a second and hit the like button.
04:12It tells YouTube to show this to more Marvel fans, and it's the fastest way to help us
04:17reach that 10,000 goal.
04:19Here's where it gets complicated.
04:21The joke didn't land the same way for everyone.
04:24Some Sam Wilson fans online said it disrespected him, and entertainment outlets ran headlines
04:30about backlash.
04:31The strongest reading of the scene, though, is that the joke is about Scott being flustered
04:35by a crowd of captains, not about Sam being less worthy.
04:39And honestly, the debate is loaded for a reason.
04:43Sam has faced a lot of online hostility since he took the shield, and fans worry that Steve's
04:49return could push him into the background.
04:51Reports from earlier this year even claim Doomsday's reshoots leaned on Sam's role, which suggests
04:57Marvel is aware of the concern.
04:59One theory floating around is that Marvel revealed the full joke because of that reaction.
05:04I'll be clear, that is a guess.
05:06Marvel hasn't said so, and nothing I found confirms it.
05:10There's also a simpler explanation.
05:12The joke is funny.
05:13It's a trailer.
05:14And a trailer wants you laughing.
05:16Be honest.
05:17Do you think this joke disrespects Sam Wilson, or is it just Scott being Scott?
05:22Tell me in the comments.
05:23I really want to know where you land.
05:25Alright, back to the Bifrost, because this is where the story takes a turn.
05:30The clip implies Thor and Steve are using the Bifrost to travel somewhere.
05:34A lot of fans immediately assumed it's the Time Variance Authority, the TVA, the multiverse
05:40bureaucracy from the Loki series.
05:43There's a reason.
05:44In earlier footage, we saw Loki in TVA gear, holding what looks like a TVA card.
05:49And in the Endgame Encore re-release that hit theaters September 25th, there's a new
05:55scene where Loki shows up at the door of Steve and Peggy's home.
05:59Put those together, and it looks like Loki gave Steve a way to reach him.
06:03But Marvel insider James Mack says don't trust the Bifrost.
06:08According to him, the Bifrost shot is an edit made just for advertising, and the real
06:13way into the TVA is a portal opened with Loki's card.
06:16I want to be careful here, because that's one scooper's claim, and Marvel hasn't
06:21confirmed it.
06:21But if it's true, the trailer was cut to misdirect.
06:25And that matters, because it feeds directly into the biggest theory of the week.
06:30The theory goes like this, that isn't Steve Rogers, it's Loki.
06:35Don't dismiss it yet, because the evidence is more interesting than you'd expect.
06:40In Thor The Dark World, Loki briefly turns into Steve to mock him in front of Thor.
06:45In Endgame's time heist, a captured Loki does it again, and the 2012 Steve assumes
06:51that his future self is Loki pulling the same trick.
06:54Fans count that as three Captain America impersonations.
06:58Then comes Steve's behavior in this trailer.
07:01The grin when he asks Thor about the hammer feels, to some viewers, more mischievous than
07:06heroic.
07:07There's an even wilder version.
07:09Some fans argue the old Steve in Endgame, the one who hands over the shield, was also
07:15Loki.
07:16The idea is that Loki made a deal with the real Steve, hid him and his family away on
07:21a different Earth, and then delivered the shield himself.
07:24One version places that Earth in the Fantastic Four's universe, Earth 828, which fits with
07:31the baseball promo.
07:32But I need to flag that this is fan theory built partly on unconfirmed leaks.
07:37Nothing in an official source says it.
07:40So why might it be wrong?
07:42First, if Mac is right and Steve and Thor are heading into the TVA, then Loki is a destination,
07:48not a disguise.
07:50Second, Mjolnir.
07:51In the July trailer, Thor made this man prove who he was by calling the hammer, and it came
07:57to him.
07:58For Loki to pull that off, he'd have to have changed in a very big way.
08:02And third, think about story logic.
08:05If Loki already knows Doom's real plan, he doesn't need to sneak around in someone else's
08:10face.
08:11He could just confront Doom in front of everyone.
08:14Marvel doesn't usually reveal a villain's true intentions that early.
08:18So my personal take?
08:20I believe this is Steve.
08:22The beard, the age, the humor he might have picked up along the way.
08:25But I love the theory.
08:27And if it turns out to be right, it'd be one of the best twists Marvel has ever pulled.
08:33Before we wrap up, there's one more reason this trailer has people talking, and it's
08:38what the film is reportedly like.
08:40Insider Daniel Richtman reports that a recent test screening went very well.
08:45According to him, reactions were positive, and Doctor Doom is being described as one of
08:50Marvel's best villains, on par with Thanos.
08:53The same report says James Marsden's Cyclops is a standout, and Jeff Snyder relayed one
08:59reaction calling the movie way better than expected.
09:03Now, a few corrections, because you'll see people repeating some of this wrong.
09:07The runtime being reported isn't 2 hours and 15 minutes.
09:11It's around 2 hours and 50 minutes, down from an earlier report of about 2 hours and 45.
09:17That's still shorter than Endgame, which runs roughly 3 hours.
09:21And the post-credits situation is murky.
09:24Richtman says the cut currently has one important post-credits scene.
09:28Earlier reports claim 2, and leaks have described 1 involving Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man,
09:35and another involving Wanda.
09:37None of that is official.
09:38Test cuts change.
09:40Treat it all as a snapshot.
09:42And while rumors say Doomsday will be dark and emotional, with several heartbreaking goodbyes,
09:48Marvel hasn't confirmed anything.
09:50Deadpool is widely expected in the film too, but again, wait for the official word.
09:55So, here's where we stand.
09:57Marvel gave us a funny scene, a Thor and Steve reunion, and one very suspicious Bifrost.
10:03Whether the truth is Steve, Loki, or a TVA portal, one thing's certain.
10:09This trailer was built to make us argue.
10:11If this breakdown helped you see the trailer differently, smash that like button so more
10:16Marvel fans can find it.
10:18Now I want your take.
10:19Is it really Steve Rogers, or is it Loki in disguise?
10:23Drop your answer in the comments, and tell me which Captain America you'd want to face
10:28Doctor Doom first.

10:33I'll see you in the next one.
