Speaking exclusively to India Today, businessman Robert Vadra addressed the controversy surrounding the cancellation and removal of protest photographs from his son Raihan Vadra's exhibition at Bikaner House in Delhi. Robert Vadra stated that venue authorities were provided with a PDF file outlining all contents a week in advance and failed to raise objections earlier, saying, "They did not do their due diligence." He questioned why objections to protest images were raised just hours before the opening, terming the move an unjustified clampdown on creative expression. The controversy erupted into a political showdown between the Congress and the BJP over allegations of censorship versus venue guideline violations.

00:00The one controversy that again brought the BJP and the Congress showdown to the surface was
00:05what happened with Rehan Vajra's exhibition at the Bikaner House.
00:10And speaking exclusively, Robert Vajra, the father of Rehan Vajra,
00:15and of course the husband of Priyanka Gandhi Vajra,
00:17told me a short while back that he blames it on the Bikaner House.
00:22And he says that they did not do their due diligence
00:25because a PDF with photographs, everything was sent to them.
00:28I did question him about the guidelines as well.
00:31Here's why and what Robert Vajra is saying on this.
00:35Because the Congress is while defending Rehan Vajra and the exhibition,
00:38they are charging at the BJP of censorship.
00:41The Bharatiya Janata Party is now claiming that look how guidelines were broken.
00:46The BJP is quoting a letter where they say that when the proposal was sought,
00:49it was sought on wildlife and nature pictures.
00:52And for some reason, protests were added at the last minute.
00:56Let's listen in to this big exclusive about what was being said.
01:01Remember this at a time also came when a Kerala chief minister has said,
01:06if the Dachshund capital Delhi doesn't let you host the event,
01:09come over, we'll give you that opportunity.
01:13And Rajiv Chandra Shekhar is asking, and who's a Kerala emile,
01:16why would you give such a red carpet to the dynastic family?
01:20Let's listen on to all these reactions that are coming in.
01:23And importantly, the exclusive of Robert Vajra speaking to India today.
01:30And Mr. Vajra, your son is clearly in the center of this controversy right now.
01:35Do you want to elaborate for us what happened?
01:38I'm sure as parents you were looking forward to this exhibition
01:40that had to be cancelled at the last minute.
01:44It's really unnecessary, all this attention.
01:48The thing is, a PDF file, like always, he's always exhibited there for the last six, seven years.
01:54And he's exhibited in different places.
01:55Even in Skinner House, they know what the content of things that he usually puts.
02:01And also this time, the protocol demands that you have to submit a PDF file a week ago,
02:07which was presented to them.
02:09They did not do their due diligence.
02:11And only when he started, obviously, when there was no objection,
02:16he invited people for a soft launch, people who he thought can promote this,
02:22as they always do.
02:25They make catalogs.
02:26They do it for interiors of hotels or various other people demand his work, right?
02:34And they buy his work.
02:35So, obviously, he invited all those people, keeping in mind that there was no objection
02:41for anything in that interim of the one week.
02:44And then, as soon as he starts putting it up, a few people see it on the 20th,
02:49I mean, as in, like, the organizers or whatever, the admin of the place.
02:53And then on 21st, I think only three hours, prior to the show opening, the commissioner comes
03:02and he says, oh, you know, that I'm not very satisfied with these pictures here,
03:08these black in my pictures here, that you'll have to remove it.
03:10So, there was no candid, there's no categoric reasoning why there's an objection to this.
03:18Are you saying, Mr. Vajra, that your son did send a PDF before the exhibition
03:23that had all the protest pictures also?
03:25I'm not going to make it up in the air, no?
03:26I mean, there's a protocol.
03:28You have to send the PDF to them.
03:29And they did not do their due diligence.
03:32Did it have the protest pictures, sir?
03:34Yes, everything, the contents of what we're going to be displaying is the PDF file
03:41of every time you display something, you have to provide them a PDF file.
03:47They did not do their due diligence.
03:49I don't know.
03:49You know, the chalta head behavior or whatever, yeah, it's fine, we've approved it.
03:53You go ahead with it.
03:55You know, kind of thing that it's like because he's done so many times that, I mean,
03:59they said the same, that's what was understood.
04:01So, obviously, there's no objection for a whole week.
04:04They did not do their due diligence.
04:06And only when he starts setting it up, they look at something.
04:08Then they went back to their higher ups and they told them whatever.
04:13This is a tremendous, a gallery, a tremendous work in this way.
04:19So, Prashnachin is up to say, why are there going to be a contribution of this way?
04:23There's no controversy, there's no trigger, there's no protest trigger or there's no violence.
04:29It's just an expression, a creative expression, it's also a connection to it.
04:33It shows that somewhere, somewhere, this over-enthusiasm, curb the freedom of expression,
04:39it's all you need to raise your voice.
04:42I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say,
04:43I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say,
04:43I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say,
04:43I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say,
04:43I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say,
04:43I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say,
04:43I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say,
04:43I'm going to say, I'm going to say
