00:01The following is a Three Stages of Hell match.
00:06And it is for the WWE Championship.
00:13I have voices in my head,
00:16they come to me, they understand, they tell me.
00:24Randy Orton has become the apex predator for
00:29the WWE.
00:30He's taken out Batista and Ric Flair,
00:34the big man family and Triple H.
00:37And that's in a span of just about six months.
00:39Yeah, but let me just stop you right there, Michael.
00:41And let me ask you, how much of an apex predator
00:44Randy Orton would have been on his own as we see him right now?
00:48You don't see Cody Rhodes, you don't see Ted DiBiase.
00:51How many times have we referred to those guys as a pack of wolves?
00:54Well tonight, Randy Orton's a lone wolf.
00:58Have to wonder what's going through the always confident shaping his mind.
01:02Is that confidence being tested right now?
01:04As he heads into uncharted waters for himself.
01:08Three stages of hell, a traditional wrestling match.
01:12Look, look, look, excuse me, but I just don't see that confidence in the eyes of Orton
01:17that we ordinarily see.
01:21Never been involved in this type of matchup.
01:23Traditional wrestling match to start followed by falls count anywhere.
01:26If a third match is needed, it becomes a stretcher match.
01:30This is in a sense two out of three falls.
01:32Well, let's go.
01:33First of all tonight.
01:34Yeah.
01:48What up, Rick?
02:02I hear voices calling, I feel justice calling, I see faith in me.
02:09Mr. McMahon made this match up last Monday night.
02:12And they came to me, they understand, they talk to me.
02:16And let's not forget that what Randy Orton did to Mr. McMahon's family.
02:24He gave it funny, the chairman of the WWE in the skull.
02:29Well, let's don't forget what took place last Monday night.
02:33What happened in that last man standing match, how brutal was that?
02:36Neither Orton nor Triple H could answer the ten count.
02:49Triple H is making you wait, Randy.
02:54It's making you think about it, Orton.
02:58Who's making you think about every stage of hell there is.
03:12Time to play the game.
03:28It's all about the game.
03:30And I can play it all about control, and you can take it all about your challenge.
03:37Triple H with his left leg wrap following the damage stuff with the last man standing
03:42back this past Monday night against Randy Orton.
03:45For Triple H, this is about the opportunity to become a 14-time world champion king.
03:51And an opportunity to take out the man who's busted so much pain physically and
03:57emotionally over the past few months.
03:59Without a doubt, the game would love to win that championship, but just as much as that,
04:04he wants to send Randy Orton straight to hell in this match.
04:08Don't you forget there's a fight you just made, cause I have the game and I want to play.
04:28If anyone can take Randy Orton to hell, it'll be Triple H and
04:33believe me, Orton won't be taken in the hand basket.
04:35Only two other times in the history of the WWE has there been a three stages of hell match.
04:44Both times that match was won by this man, Triple H.
04:49He defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin in one.
04:52He defeated Shawn Michaels in one for the world championship.
04:56And tonight he looks to claim the WWE title in only the third three stages of match.
05:02Three stages of hell match ever against Randy Orton.
05:10Been around a while, Mike, I'm pretty good at reading faces.
05:13That the Orton is lacking that confidence.
05:17You can just see it.
05:19I think he's glancing around hoping that suddenly,
05:22Cody Rhodes or Ted DiBiase are going to appear.
05:27Introducing first, the challenger from Greenwich, Connecticut,
05:32weighing in at 255 pounds, Triple H.
05:44And from St. Louis, Missouri, weighing in at 245 pounds,
05:50he is the WWE Champion, Randy Orton.
05:58The WWE Universe is watching this matchup around the world in places tonight,
06:03like live in the United Kingdom, in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, even in Australia,
06:08where our WWE Superstars head off later on this week.
06:14This is the three stages of hell match for the WWE title.
06:18And King, the first matchup going to be a traditional wrestling match.
06:21First fall, so to speak, a traditional wrestling match.
06:23The second fall will be a falls count anywhere in this arena,
06:28anywhere in the state match or fall.
06:31And then the third fall, if it should go that far, stretcher match.
06:34And remember, this is a wrestling match.
06:37You win by pinfall submission, disqualification, or counting.
06:40So each man has to keep their emotions in check as Triple H takes
06:45the fight to Orton in the early going.
06:48You don't necessarily have to keep your emotions in check.
06:51Well, you can get disqualified.
06:53Then you just go to the second stage of hell.
06:55But then you're behind the eight ball.
06:58Triple H, 13-time champion.
07:02With love to punish Randy Orton tonight, promised, not long this past Monday night,
07:07to take Orton to hell.
07:10Those big right hands from the game.
07:14Landing right in the jaw of Randy Orton.
07:16Well, you know, the game pointing to take Orton there so bad that he's willing to go there with him.
07:24Orton's leg.
07:27Randy Orton immediately turning his attention.
07:32Triple H realizes it, what a count.
07:34What a nice move.
07:37Well, not nice for Randy Orton, but that was really smart on the part of the game.
07:42Orton had a death grip on that leg, just about to slam it into that steel ring post.
07:47And the strength of the game pulled Orton face first in that post.
07:50Watch this one more time.
07:53Triple H is clever as they come.
07:57Off the suplex, Triple H looks to put Orton away as he hooks the leg first.
08:02Okay, got it too.
08:03Well, I think it was good ol' JR that dubbed the game the Cerebral Assassin.
08:08And he has certainly earned that moniker over the years.
08:12You gotta go some to outthink the game in a wrestling match.
08:20Randy Orton sees that opening.
08:23Triple H, look at, going for the pedigree.
08:25Let's put it on the way, and Orton right to the interblade.
08:31Randy Orton, Cerebral in his own right.
08:33Begins the assault.
08:35Come on, keep inside the ring.
08:37Yeah, you're right.
08:38Orton's always thinking as well, but it's always evil thoughts.
08:43Come on.
08:46Come on, get it back.
08:47Come on.
08:48Triple H needs to ride himself, get back in the center of that ring,
08:51away from those ring posts.
08:53One, two, one.
08:54That's what's gonna happen.
08:56Just six nights removed came from the injury to Triple H in that last man standing
09:00match.
09:01Triple H could not stand the end of the match on Monday night.
09:04No.
09:05No.
09:06And then, what about the trunk of that car being slammed up in the back of Randy Orton?
09:11I was amazed to see Randy Orton even show up here.
09:15The punishment, these two men have put each other through.
09:18Not only over the past six months, but over the past number of years.
09:23They began together in the group known as Evolution.
09:26Boy, and that's where it all went downhill from there.
09:29Randy Orton excommunicated from the group, and he's held this ship on his shoulder
09:34against Triple H ever since.
09:36But it was this year that Orton's just made it so personal.
09:39He comes in new heights.
09:42Triple H.
09:44Triple H.
09:44As we documented on Monday Night King, has had a history of leg trouble.
09:49Both quads torn over his career.
09:54And of course, nobody knows that any better than, well, Triple H, but nobody-
09:58Ready or go for the RKO.
09:59Triple H saw it come and managed to counter.
10:02Orton knows that history of leg injury.
10:04Strike buster.
10:07You can never afford to get overcome it, but look at the damage done to that leg.
10:12And the torque of lifting Orton up and slamming him down, causing more damage.
10:20Uh-oh, uh-oh, look at Orton.
10:23He's so calculated.
10:26You can never take anything for granted.
10:28You can never, when you're in a match with Orton, you can never think you've got the upper hand.
10:31You have to be wary at all times, or he'll strike.
10:34Bring it up.
10:35Little is like that.
10:38Orton, you heard the scream of the ref to count.
10:41And Triple H is counted out here.
10:43Orton will win this first fall.
10:45Three!
10:47Let it break!
10:49Triple H, he needed the help of the apron and the ropes just to try to right himself that time.
10:56You can imagine Orton would be-
11:01The first two falls over Triple H, not even have to go to that third stage of hell.
11:07Hey, come on, let's go.
11:09Come on, let's go.
11:11What?
11:12Steel chair to the skull.
11:15Disqualification.
11:17Disqualification.
11:18The first fall by disqualification.
11:21What in the world?
11:22So, Randy Orton won the first fall.
11:25Triple H got himself disqualified.
11:26Yeah, but they still got his hands on that steel chair and he's gonna do some damage.
11:31Triple H hammering away on Randy Orton.
11:37Look at Triple H go.
11:39My gosh.
11:40The second fall is a falls count anywhere match.
11:44Triple H is just going to town on the champion.
11:50Look at, look at, just to the back of the head.
11:55Triple H has punished Orton.
11:58But he's down one fall to nothing in this three stages of hell match.
12:01Yeah, but I think the damage that Triple H was able to do with that steel chair is worth costing
12:07himself that first fall.
12:09Look at Orton.
12:10What are you saying?
12:12Look at Orton, what am I saying?
12:15Are you saying Triple H sacrificed himself by losing the first fall?
12:19Obviously.
12:20I mean, you know he was risking, he knew he was risking the disqualification when he nailed Orton with that
12:25chair.
12:26So Orton's up worth nothing, but this is falls count anywhere.
12:29And Triple H.
12:30As a matter of fact, he wasn't even risking it.
12:32He knew it was gonna happen.
12:33Yeah, there you go.
12:33And Triple H, he can get a pitfall here.
12:36Here's the cover by the game.
12:37Hooks the leg.
12:39Triple H is even to score.
12:41It's 1-1.
12:42And it's time for the third stage of hell.
12:45The winner of the second fall, Triple H.
12:48Well, if the strategy you explained is what Triple H was thinking about King,
12:53that he is indeed the cerebral assassin.
12:55Well, exactly.
12:56I mean, I think that Triple H probably realized that it was gonna be very difficult for him to win
13:01that first fall,
13:02with the damage that had been done to his leg.
13:03And he knew that.
13:04Now, tied 1-1.
13:06The third fall becomes a stretcher match.
13:09I think Triple H did the smart thing.
13:11He got a hold of that steel chair, and he literally brutalized Orton with it.
13:14You see the line being placed on the stage.
13:17Remember the rules of the stretcher match now.
13:18You have to incapacitate your opponent enough to put him on that stretcher, and
13:22then push the entire stretcher across that line.
13:25If you do that, you're the WWE Champion.
13:29What a lamp here.
13:30You suffer steel chairs, and then the pedigree.
13:35Orton could be easy pickings for Triple H, who's gotta now push that stretcher up the ramp.
13:41And it's all come down to this.
13:43Now it's a stretcher match for the WWE Championship.
13:46Triple H closing in on his 14th title.
13:49Orton's out.
13:50Orton's out.
13:51The stretcher being pushed up the ramp for the game.
13:57The stretcher's gotta cross the line.
14:00Orton's dead weight, but Triple H is up.
14:02Uh-oh, wait a minute.
14:03And Randy Orton, remember the stretcher, has to go completely across the line.
14:06And Orton, great strategy.
14:08The stretcher into the damaged leg.
14:11Mom, I love you.
14:14And Orton obviously playing pass until the game got ready.
14:17Look out.
14:19Yeah!
14:22Triple H was so close to putting this matchup away.
14:27Randy Orton regaining his composure in time.
14:30Absolutely anything goes now.
14:33You can do anything you want, just as long as you somehow get your opponent on that stretcher,
14:38and get him across that line.
14:42Yeah!
14:42Yeah!
14:46And Orton.
14:49Looks to go on the attack Triple H as well.
14:51These two superstars have suffered so much punishment tonight and down here.
14:54Watch out, Monday!
14:56No!
14:56No!
14:58The game straddled right on that wall.
15:02And it's legal, there's only one rule in this match.
15:05No matter whether it's legal or not, that could finish you off right there.
15:10Randy Orton buying himself some time.
15:12Cooper 8.
15:13He's got an H.
15:16Saw the welt building on Orton's forehead from the steel chair moments ago.
15:22And he's gotta be careful here with this action between these two spilling out into our audience.
15:27Boom!
15:28Just every punch with absolute malice.
15:36And the official gotta be, there's no way to restore any organ between these two.
15:44Watch out!
15:47Wharton using every part of this arena as a weapon now.
15:53An uppercut.
15:57He's gonna lift the Triple H's eyes moments ago.
16:02I saw his eyes glazed over.
16:05WWE fans desperately trying to wheel the game back in the game.
16:09And here comes Triple H.
16:12The resolve.
16:15Triple H landed three huge bombs right there.
16:18Oh, another one.
16:23Another retreat.
16:24Oh, well, there's a little help retreating back into the ring area.
16:27Did you hear Orton's head bounce off the floor?
16:38Scott, you got this!
16:40Scott, you got this.
16:41Scott, you got this.
16:41Scott, you got this.
16:43Let's go, Ash.
16:45Watch this, this is what you're talking about.
16:47Watch it.
16:48Right there.
16:52He hurts his leg, he hurts so bad.
16:54He had trouble climbing back over that straining wall.
17:08And the Viper uses it as a weapon.
17:16You see it, Orton, removing the catting.
17:21Triple H!
17:21I don't know if there is there, and now.
17:28Running, running, running,
17:30way to the unprotected wall.
17:35Dropping him on it.
17:36Silent Steel, no bend at all.
17:38And you saw Triple H's back bend around it.
17:41Hey, man.
17:43Let's go, Ash.
17:43Let's go, Ash.
17:49Orton seemingly enjoying the assault.
17:52Of course he is, but now this is not seemingly, he's ecstatic over this assault,
17:57because the game is in really dire straits here.
18:02Remember, this is the third ball of this match, ladies and gentlemen.
18:05Three stages of hell.
18:06It's a stretcher match.
18:06And Orton realizing that, now has to put the game on the stretcher,
18:10and push that stretcher up the ramp until the entire stretcher crosses the yellow line up there.
18:15I mean.
18:17Easier said than done.
18:19But Orton's gonna try it right here.
18:25The game just almost defenseless here.
18:31Yeah, Keyword almost.
18:35Stop!
18:37Don't worry.
18:38Don't get Amy.
18:39Oh, what's in there, Ray?
18:42Yeah, Orton!
18:43Triple H's late, buckling.
18:47These two guys, this is a three stages of hell match,
18:50and they're both hell-bent on destroying each other.
19:03This has finally come down to this match.
19:08Three stages of hell.
19:10We're in the third stage.
19:11This is only gonna end when one of these men is incapacitated and
19:15hauled out on a stretcher.
19:17That's what I'm trying to do here, look out!
19:27I don't know how Orton has the strength to even stand,
19:31much less throw those huge steel steps over the top ropes on the floor into the ring.
19:41I don't know if Triple H realizes what's going on here.
19:44No, my God, no!
19:45My gosh!
19:47No!
19:47Triple H!
19:49And Orton's going first!
19:52Man!
19:56What a counter by Triple H, who suddenly has the upper hand.
20:01One, two, three, four, four, three.
20:05Orton, he's going to go face first into those steel steps.
20:09Watch and listen to this.
20:12Good grief.
20:15Look out, look out!
20:16Look out!
20:16Look at the skull again!
20:20Ed should do it!
20:26Triple H has the strength left.
20:29Orton unconscious?
20:30No.
20:31If he's not, he's Superman after getting hit in the head with those steel
20:34steps.
20:36Triple H is trying to drag this.
20:39That's the weight of Orton.
20:42Gotta put him on the stretcher.
20:44That's the first part of this.
20:47Here's the first part is done.
20:49Listen, watch this, my gosh.
20:54Is he unconscious?
20:56Take out.
20:58Yes, Ed Norton is out.
21:00The second part for Triple H, and perhaps the most difficult is now to push
21:03the stretcher.
21:05You got the weight of the stretcher, the dead weight of Andy Orton here up this
21:09ramp.
21:09250-pound man, you gotta push up the stretcher across that line completely.
21:13And Orton's stirring now, Orton's stirring.
21:16Orton's trying to come through and he does again.
21:19The championship on the line.
21:20The Triple H.
21:22Look at this, look out, look out, look out, look out.
21:35Orton's trying to come through.
21:41Extreme stretcher ride right there, and Orton's getting the worst end of that landing.
21:50Let's go, Orton!
21:50We'll call it that.
21:52Let's go, Orton!
21:53Let's go, Orton!
21:53Let's go, Orton!
21:54This is going to get it from the other stretcher, and they've pushed the stretcher.
21:57Orton's hurting.
21:58Once again, that lower back or last week we saw Triple H slam that car tromp into
22:03his lower back of Orton.
22:06Look at Orton.
22:07Orton.
22:08The back get forged when you think you have Orton finished off.
22:14Yeah, she beat him.
22:15He comes at you like a snake.
22:17No, no, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, no, my God.
22:24Drop him on the steel step, on that steel ramp.
22:27Take him out and finish him.
22:29Finish him, get out and take him.
22:32You can do it.
22:35Watch this once again and see if the base hit.
22:42Is Orton gonna be able to drive Triple H up to the stretcher with a bad back?
22:47I don't know, but I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before.
22:50How is Triple H even able to score?
22:53How is he able to move?
22:55Was Orton able to move?
22:58Orton just planted the game there.
23:00Watch out, no, no, no, no.
23:03Randy Orton again trying to punch Triple H and ducks out of the way.
23:07Orton caught Triple H.
23:09I think Orton kicked the bottom of that metal stretcher.
23:15Maybe it was his knee, I couldn't tell.
23:20And Triple H looks to capitalize.
23:22Look at this, Triple H, the body drop onto the stretcher.
23:26And Orton's got Triple H where he wants it.
23:35Look at these men literally spent.
23:39It's amazing that they can even get to their feet.
23:42That continues.
23:44Will it be Orton who's able to push that stretcher off the ramp?
23:48This is once again coming after last Monday's Last Man Standing match.
23:52I don't know how either one of these guys are standing after this.
23:55Only one is now.
23:57And that's Randy Orton who looks to retain the title.
23:59Yeah, and quite frankly, Triple H isn't standing.
24:03Orton's struggling to push the game up and across that line.
24:07Just gotta get over that last slope.
24:09And then he can just push the stretcher over the finish line.
24:12No, no, no, no, Triple H's off the stretcher.
24:14That's all Triple H could do.
24:17Instinctively rolled off the stretcher.
24:19Oh, man.
24:24Frustrated Orton.
24:26I believe Orton thought he had it won.
24:36All the times that we've seen this,
24:38the Viper coiling, preparing to strike.
24:43Going for that final strike.
24:44There they are, K-O, countered by Triple H.
24:46His body bounced.
24:56Triple H can't connect.
24:58Steel stage, pedigree, scuttle off the stage.
25:04And keep in mind, the structure's right there.
25:06It's right at the finish line now.
25:08That could do it.
25:09If you could get Orton on the stretcher somehow,
25:11you don't have to push him on the ramp anymore.
25:13Well, certainly things are in Triple H's favor right here.
25:17Look at this, he wouldn't even have to push Randy Orton three feet.
25:21Triple H could be closing in on the WWE Championship.
25:27Get him on the structure.
25:36He's on, he's on, he's on, he's on, Triple H, Randy Orton, Triple H is gonna win this.
25:43What?
25:43To the, Cody Rhodes.
25:47Cody Rhodes blocked the stretcher for the last second.
25:49Just saving Orton in his championship.
25:52And here's the assault by one member of Legacy.
25:56Come on, Cody.
26:00Cody, take it out for the moment.
26:01Does Triple H have anything left?
26:03Orton is still on the stretcher.
26:04Orton is still on the stretcher.
26:06Triple H has gotta get that full stretcher over there.
26:08No.
26:09DiBiase, DiBiase.
26:11My gosh, both members of Legacy returning.
26:17They're doing Orton's dirty work.
26:19Put their problems behind apparently, DiBiase and Rhodes.
26:25DiBiase and Rhodes literally hammering Triple H and now they're gonna-
26:30Come on.
26:31They're doing it all for Orton.
26:32They're gonna put Triple H on the stretcher.
26:34DiBiase and Rhodes again accomplices.
26:37Orton landed motionless.
26:38Triple H, look at him fight back.
26:40Look at the game fight back.
26:45Numbers again against Triple H.
26:48Man.
26:51Legacy just absolutely devouring the gang there.
26:55Now Orton is starting to stir over there.
26:57The pack of wolves mentality you to go to earlier.
27:03Triple H really being put through hell now at the hands of Legacy.
27:08And Legacy trying to revive Orton.
27:11Still gotta get Triple H.
27:13Uh-oh.
27:13Triple H, Triple H, one more trick up his sleeve.
27:18No.
27:19The sledgehammer.
27:22The game with the sledgehammer.
27:25Out of nowhere.
27:26No.
27:27Look at the jaw of Rhodes.
27:29And DiBiase down as well.
27:31Look at Randy Orton.
27:37Picking the moment.
27:38What's he doing?
27:39I believe that's part of the stage where the sledgehammer is hitting.
27:43And Randy Orton, Randy Orton wins the stretcher match.
27:47And retains the title.
27:49And still, the WWE Champion, Randy Orton.
27:56I can't.
27:57Randy Orton has won the three stages of hell match.
28:03How the numbers game caught up to Triple H.
28:06All designed to keep you.
28:08Randy Orton took advantage.
28:10But the rules start getting broken.
28:11And Randy Orton is still the WWE Champion.
28:18What a brutal, what a physical matchup.
28:23But what a shocking ending to this thing.
28:27Legacy coming back just as, I mean, Triple H was inches away from having Orton on the stretcher across that
28:34line and winning this thing.
28:35And you saw the evidence just lying there on the stage.
28:38Triple H had hidden the sledgehammer.
28:40And the piece of stage that Triple H had removed was used by Orton.
28:44Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
28:46Triple H is crawling towards Orton and he's got that sledgehammer still in his hand.
28:51Oh, no, and from behind, Triple H.
28:55Orton is clueless.
29:01Three.
29:04Four.
29:14I'm this guy.
29:16This is roots of Breaking Tapies,
29:17And.
29:19I'm going to lead,
29:32Randy Orton wrote another chapter in his legacy here tonight.
29:35The Triple H just put the final exclamation point on that chapter.
29:41Randy Orton retains the WWE Championship, but at one cost.
29:54The Triple H, I think it's fair to say that both Triple H's in.
29:58Orton, as you can see there, went through hell here tonight.
