00:02Wait no more for this main event.
00:09The following content is scheduled for
00:11one fall and it is for the WCW Championship.
00:14Introducing the challenger representing the Alliance,
00:17weighing in at 235 pounds,
00:20he is the World Wrestling Federation Hardcore Champion, Rob Van Dam.
00:27Rob Van Dam's Hardcore title, not at stake here.
00:30But a bigger one is the WCW title.
00:33And what an opportunity for RVD.
00:36Yes, he's on a roll.
00:37If you smell what the rock is cooking.
00:42And from Miami, Florida,
00:45gaining at 270 pounds, he is the WCW Champion, The Rock.
00:52The Rock will be in Dayton, Ohio tomorrow night, but will it be?
00:55With a WCW title, The Rock defending the Covenant Gold here in the Alive.
01:05The Rock, quite frankly, very fortunate to survive the two-on-one handicap match at Unforgiven.
01:13Thanks to Earl Hefner, who wasn't even the assigned official for the contest.
01:21I'll tell you why Shane McMahon had referee Nick Packer get in his pocket.
01:25Oh, here comes trouble.
01:28What the hell is this?
01:30It's the Billion Dollar Princess.
01:33I know who she is.
01:34The one you asked, what is this?
01:36What does she think she's doing?
01:39Birthday girl's got no business out here.
01:41The birthday girl holds a pinball victory over The Rock, doesn't she?
01:47Oh, my God, Paul.
01:48You're not going to elaborate on that fluke, are you?
01:51Stephanie McMahon-Heldley pinned The Rock with a big smile on her face.
01:56You can check the record book.
01:59And if The Rock can be beat by Stephanie McMahon-Heldley, The Rock can be beat by R.V.D.
02:07Well, notwithstanding that ridiculous victory, and the folks that saw that, Stephanie McMahon
02:13crawled on top of The Rock and hit him one, two, three, and everything else that went down prior to
02:19that.
02:20Okay, Rock had a match, Rock lost the match.
02:23Who scored the pin, The Billion Dollar Princess, Stephanie McMahon-Heldley.
02:31RVD and The Rock with the WCW title.
02:34It has been a night of championships.
02:36This first time ever confrontation between two of the youngest,
02:41most impressive athletes in all of sports entertainment, The Rock and RVD.
02:48Paul, how do you see this one?
02:50You know both these men very well, and it's certainly RVD.
02:53How do you analyze this match?
02:55I analyze this match this way, The Rock is a great champion, a phenomenal WCW champion.
03:01But The Rock has met his match in the Lord of the Hardcores,
03:05the King of Extreme, Mr. Monday Night, Rob Van Damme.
03:11RVD is an amazing athlete, very unorthodox, very hard to figure out.
03:16His unorthodox style is anything but traditional.
03:20But The Rock, The Brahma Bull, has withstand so
03:23many challenges in his short yet illustrious WWF career.
03:29But The Brahma Bull has never met a matador quite like Rob Van Damme.
03:34Can't argue that point, nice knockdown.
03:36And The Rock nipping right out, showing his athleticism looking for
03:39The Rock bottom in the early going, and Van Damme fighting quickly to get out and
03:45then execute the knockdown with a reverse heel kick, and The Rock, clothesline over the top rope.
03:51Van Damme in control, and Van Damme putting a smile on the birthday princess face.
03:59And check out the popularity of Van Damme.
04:03Van Damme reversing The Rock, and then The Rock exploded off the wall with a clothesline.
04:10Van Damme has great popularity.
04:12There's no denying that or his ability.
04:15Van Damme landing on his feet.
04:18Trying to lock up The Rock, what's he doing?
04:21There's no telling here.
04:22Rock hung up on the security wall, and Van Damme, but we've seen this.
04:26Here comes R-D-D in the air.
04:30A spinning kick from the apron to the wall, amazing maneuver by R-D-D and The Rock.
04:38Perhaps as Paul mentioned, has not seen anything quite as unorthodox,
04:42this up close and personal, one on one, as he's experiencing now.
04:47Nor has The Rock, arguably, the most popular athlete in the history of Raw,
04:51ever faced an athlete who was as popular as Rob Van Damme.
04:57Man, what a shock that was.
04:59That could be all, gotta point out, this is not a hardcore matchup.
05:02Van Damme, hook in the leg, and The Rock got his shoulder up.
05:05Hardcore is Van Damme's specialty, no doubt about that.
05:08But the hardcore title, what are the hardcore rules in effect here?
05:12Can you imagine the leadership role, R-D-D, can ascend to when he defeats The Rock
05:20with a WCW title?
05:22Are you writing off Boston?
05:23No, sir.
05:24I hope you didn't hear that comment, you may.
05:26Everybody, there's a two-plex, and a two-plex, please.
05:29Man, that was a close, close near fall, and The Rock quickly back up.
05:32And The Rock, right into the half-ness, getting predictable again, and Van Damme able to kick out.
05:40Van Damme sweeping the leg.
05:42Nice move by Van Damme the next week.
05:44And Van Damme again.
05:46More unorthodox.
05:48Offense, and Stephanie, boy, she's smiling.
05:51Van Damme makes that woman smile.
05:53The leg is hitting, and The Rock again kicked out.
05:55Rob Van Damme uses his own body as a weapon.
05:59And keep in mind, JR, Rob Van Damme never received a shot at the WCW title,
06:04never got a shot at the WCW title.
06:06This is Rob Van Damme's first shot at a major championship.
06:12Van Damme.
06:13I-D-D.
06:16Van Damme may blow.
06:18Van Damme, he may get his ass disqualified here.
06:21Hey JR's too, he doesn't need that.
06:23I have no idea what this, what has Van Damme snapped here?
06:30I don't know if Van Damme's thinking.
06:34I hope these men can be counted out here disqualified.
06:38And Van Damme, my God, his body bounced off the table.
06:43Van Damme's back to be cracked.
06:46How can you condone the actions of The Rock, JR?
06:49You're condoning telling their people.
06:51This is not a hardcore match.
06:53He's literally an idiot.
06:54You saw what he was doing.
06:55This should be contested in the ring.
06:58The Rock, let's take another look here.
07:00What a fat body drop over the table.
07:03And the table didn't, it barely budged.
07:06Well, it looks like a crime scene out here.
07:09It does look like a tornado has blown through.
07:12One, two, three.
07:16There it is, Thumb Buster.
07:17The leg is hooked.
07:18It's gonna be over, no.
07:19Van Damme, my God, how did Van Damme kick out of that?
07:22After being back dropped on this table, was barely budged.
07:27Man, what a competitor.
07:29The Rock last night, and that handicap match against two great athletes,
07:33Shane McMahon and Booker T.
07:35But The Rock survived, controversy or not.
07:37And Van Damme did more things with Chris Jericho in the hardcore match
07:41than I've ever witnessed, but they're here getting it on tonight.
07:44Exactly, thank you for acknowledging the accomplishments.
07:47It looks like it moves off.
07:52Van Damme, what a maneuver, it's Tiffany now.
07:55She got a feel that The Rock is in jeopardy.
07:58The Rock in trouble, but so is The Challenger.
08:01Show is RBD.
08:03The Rock crawling closer to The Challenger.
08:06The Rock hooked on the far leg.
08:08Will it be enough?
08:09Though it will not on this exchange.
08:10Absolutely not, just 24 hours after a successful defense of his own court title.
08:16Rob Van Damme in the biggest match of his career against The Rock.
08:21There's a billion dollars.
08:23Come on, and Van Damme.
08:25One, two.
08:27My God, how close.
08:28The Rock, destructed by the birthday princess.
08:32And what kind of celebration would you imagine the alliance would have?
08:36Stephanie's birthday and RBD becoming the WCW.
08:40The champion.
08:41Rock blocking the right hand.
08:43Home to the right of his home.
08:45RBD tries it again, and The Rock blocks it again.
08:48Another right.
08:49The Rock lifting the leg, the snap down, and the challenger for the WCW title.
08:54Hey, wait a minute.
08:57Another right hand by The Rock.
08:59Van Damme rolling, an EDT, that's gotta be all.
09:03That's gotta be it.
09:04Wait, The Rock not going for the cover.
09:06One, two, three.
09:07The Rock hooking up Van Damme into the Sharpshooter.
09:11Submission move here.
09:13Van Damme may have no twist but to tap out.
09:17And look, Stephanie distracting the referee on the apron there.
09:22And The Rock broke the Sharpshooter.
09:27And, uh-oh.
09:29And The Rock chasing Stephanie.
09:32Right at the rim play.
09:33Now let her go.
09:35Let Stephanie was leaving ringside and now The Rock puts a fight with Stephanie McMahon
09:41healthy.
09:42How can you condone this?
09:44You're the guy that was bragging about beating him.
09:47I mean, you know, she's got the big victory.
09:49Look in the room, look in the record book.
09:53And besides, it's her birthday.
09:56She deserves a little excitement.
09:58But from behind came Van Damme.
10:00Never turn your back on a man like Rob Van Damme.
10:04Van Damme with a slam.
10:06And I'll tell you what, that may be it for The Rock.
10:10After last night's two-on-one hand.
10:11Van Damme's going up, Van Damme's going up with a five-star,
10:15Frog Splash, new champion.
10:18Stephanie pushed the referee.
10:20And the referee then, made Van Damme fall and straddle himself.
10:26No!
10:27Van Damme was looking for the Frog Splash.
10:29No!
10:30No!
10:32Dammit!
10:36Stephanie McMahon.
10:37Stephanie McMahon in the ring.
10:44She was struggling with the referee.
10:48And she assumed the referee was called Van Damme to lose his balance.
10:52The Rock just ruined Stephanie's birthday!
10:58No!
11:00No!
11:01No!
11:01No!
11:02No!
11:03No!
11:03No!
