00:00What everybody excited about a good day we had yesterday in Ohio, both personally and politically.
00:06I think we had a great rally for John Huston and Vivek Ramaswamy, but also my six-year-old was
00:10extremely excited that Jamar Chase told them that he had nice gloves.
00:14So big day for a little six-year-old Vivek, and we're looking forward to going to Nebraska and campaigning
00:19with some of our great candidates out there.
00:20Questions?
00:21Mr. Vice President, Steve Wykoff is saying that there are a case talk that's underway, resumed with Russia.
00:29Ukraine now has agreed multiple times to come to the table.
00:33Russia has not.
00:35So what gives you confidence that this time will be different?
00:38Well, I think both countries have agreed to come to the table.
00:41The reason why we haven't struck a peace deal is because they've just been too apart on some of the
00:45details of that negotiation.
00:46So I think Steve reengaged the process, obviously spoke with both the Russian and Ukrainian leadership over the past couple
00:53of days.
00:53He feels optimistic.
00:54I mean, the nature of these things is you take a swing at it.
00:57You see how much progress you can make, and then you go back at it.
01:00And sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.
01:02But one of the things I really admire about Steve, but also the entire diplomatic team of the presidents, is
01:06we try to do the hard things, knowing that we have a very tall mountain to climb.
01:10And we still try to do them anyway.
01:12Mr. President, you mentioned yesterday that there are some polls that you don't think are accurate, and especially in Ohio,
01:19a lot of Republicans seem to be underrepresented.
01:21Sure.
01:21Do you want members of your own party answering polls more?
01:25That's an interesting question.
01:27I mean, I guess I don't really care one way or the other because the only poll that matters is
01:31the one in early November.
01:32I'm just saying, you know, for example, I think I saw a Morris poll that had Vivek or John down
01:38by something like six or eight points in the state of Ohio.
01:40I can say with nearly 100 percent confidence that poll is going to be proven to be inaccurate.
01:45Obviously, you never know what the final outcome is going to be.
01:47But I do think it's important for everybody to remember that sometimes these polls actually have this demotivating effect on
01:55our voters, which is why I encourage people, ignore the polls, run like we're down, and try to make the
02:00best case that we can.
02:01And eventually, of course, the American people make the decision in, I guess, 12 days.
02:04Mr. Vice President, I was wondering if you could shed some light on the issues with Starlink that Ukraine has
02:10been having.
02:11Elon Musk said any, excuse me, Star Shield, said any decision on Star Shield would come from the Pentagon or
02:16the president.
02:17The Wall Street Journal said that it was discussed with him.
02:21Do you agree with some Republicans that there should be an investigation?
02:24Well, I think that fundamentally Elon Musk runs a private corporation.
02:28And I think it's completely understandable that he doesn't want to get in the middle of what is a war
02:34between two state actors without the United States government effectively directing him on what to do.
02:39So I don't think this is about Elon.
02:41I think it's fundamentally what is America's policy in Ukraine or Russia going to be.
02:44As I just said earlier, I think we're working on some renewed negotiations.
02:48But I do find it a little ironic that the European countries, who, of course, have nothing like the technology
02:54that Elon has developed in Starlink and Stargaze and just all of the Internet service technologies that he's developed with
03:02SpaceX,
03:03these countries have almost universally decided to wage regulatory and licensing war against SpaceX.
03:10And now they're all running to SpaceX saying, please do what we need you to do.
03:14I think this drives home one of the things the president has talked about for years, which is that European
03:20countries depend on American technology,
03:22American businesses and the American military, while at the same time, European political leaders love to bash the United States
03:29allies that they depend upon so much.
03:31Thank you all. We'll see you in Nebraska.
