00:00If you're sick of parries in video games, then Onimusha Way of the Sword might hit you
00:05the wrong way, especially since its roll is extremely slow.
00:09The game's introduction to its combat is a competent, although incredibly careful one.
00:14It establishes its full suite of defensive abilities with a glacial pace, like you're
00:19a deer and it's afraid you'll bolt into the underbrush.
00:22The problem with this is that it gives the wrong impression.
00:26Onimusha's combat is utter action game bliss when it really gets going.
00:30And listen, parry fatigue is widespread.
00:33In fact, 1 in 4 action game players have experienced it in the past 5 years alone, I get it.
00:38But if you find yourself afflicted, you should persevere.
00:42Though Musashi only starts with the time block, his kit unfolded like a beautiful lotus flower
00:47throughout my 30 something hour playthrough.
00:50You've got deflects, reflex dodges, the risky iss encounter, grab reversal, stance breaking,
00:55grabs the whole lot.
00:57By the mid-game, Onimusha has shrugged off its unfortunate hand-holdy AAA introduction and
01:02started fully baring its teeth.
01:05Slow start aside, it's a best-in-class action game that rewards your investment tenfold and
01:10I highly recommend you give it a go.
