00:00Okay so my wife Mandy and I have been traveling the world for about two and a half years now
00:04and for the first two years we were using multiple travel money cards and credit cards
00:09from various banks in Australia and Canada and to say that we ran into some problems
00:15would be a massive understatement. So about six months ago we put the call out to you guys on
00:20Instagram for a better alternative and a travel money card that we could actually use that wouldn't
00:25kept getting blocked and shut down at random times and the response was actually overwhelming
00:32and almost everybody who responded recommended for us to use the WISE travel money card and so
00:38that's what we've been doing for the last six months now and in today's video I'm going to be
00:43reviewing the WISE travel money card to let you guys know how it's worked for us how it's helped
00:48us with our travels immensely and if at the end of the video if you decide you want to give
00:52WISE a go
00:53you can click the link and you'll get your first transfer up to £500 absolutely fee free no fees
01:00at all involved. So as I said before we started using WISE we were using a travel money card from
01:06one of the big banks in Australia and we ran into our first issue when we were about to get
01:12married
01:12in Las Vegas literally the day before we're about to get married we're in Vegas I had about $20 in
01:18cash
01:18on me and I went to go and pay for something and my card was blocked so here we are
01:24in Vegas about
01:25to get married Mandy has to get her hair done makeup I had to go and buy a suit we
01:30had so many
01:31things to do we had no access to our money because of the time zone difference in Australia I wasn't
01:36able to call them until late at night so the day before our wedding we actually made a video about
01:41it
01:41we literally only had access to $20 and that's despite telling our bank that we were traveling we told
01:47them multiple times we were traveling and this happened all the time we then changed to another
01:52travel money card which was a frequent flyer money card and we were in Mexico and me and Mandy had
01:58just gotten a massage in Playa del Carmen I went to go on pay and it got rejected which sometimes
02:05happens and I thought maybe it was the machine so the owner of the massage place went took me around
02:11to about three different ATMs and they all denied me and that's when he looked at me like I was
02:16trying
02:17to rob him and things actually got a little bit scary he called his boss to come in and they
02:22started
02:22accusing me of trying to like do a runner on them and I had to explain to them look it's
02:26not me it's
02:27my card I rang the card company after a back-and-forth for about 45 minutes the card got unfrozen
02:34they told
02:34me that the card had been frozen due to suspicious activity of an online purchase despite the fact that I
02:40told them multiple times that I was in Mexico we then started using a credit card from Canada anyway
02:46cut a long story short this was an ongoing problem that seemed to happen every couple of weeks we're
02:52on the phone to banks trying to get our cards unblocked despite the fact that they knew we were
02:57traveling overseas so after using the wise travel money card for six months I can tell you right now
03:02we haven't had any of those problems and some of the advantages of using the wise card have been that
03:07it holds multiple currencies so it actually holds up to 40 different currencies on the one card it
03:13gives you real exchange rates which means no more shocking fees after a shopping spree in a foreign
03:19country I've been in that position recently I actually used a credit card and went and purchased a
03:25big purchase and I found out the fee was like seventy dollars or something three percent on top of the
03:31price of the purchase which was the international transaction fee that doesn't happen with wise and the
03:35safety features I have to say are top-notch we've actually ran into a situation where we lost run
03:40of our cards and all you have to do is pull out the app and you press a button and
03:44your card is then
03:45frozen and no one can use your card so to me having a travel money card my priority is safety
03:50and that's
03:51what's really good about wise the wise travel money card actually safeguards our money with features
03:57like real-time notifications so I get an instant notification every single time my card is used so if it
04:03gets
04:03used by somebody who's hacking my card somehow I'll get a notification I'll shut it off and they even
04:09have bank level encryption which means my financial data is shielded behind industry standard security
04:15protocols honestly the peace of mind that I've had since having this wise travel money card is a
04:21no-brainer for me so let's talk about some of the benefits of using a wise travel money card over
04:27some
04:27of the big financial corporations that offer travel money cards as well number one is they have
04:32extremely low conversion fees so I'm not forking out loads of money whenever I want to convert my
04:37cash they offer real-time exchange rates which means I'm getting the best possible exchange rate at
04:43that time as I mentioned earlier it's a multi currency account so I can hold up to 40 currencies
04:48in the one account it even has contactless MasterCard so you can add this to your Apple
04:53wallet as like a digital card and all you have to do is double click I mean you've probably used
04:58Apple
04:58pay before but you can use Apple pay double click you don't even have to have your card with you
05:02and
05:02you can make purchases also it offers instant transfers so if I want to transfer money to Mandy
05:08or one of my family members back home for a present or something like that I can transfer it to
05:14another
05:14wise account instantly I can also transfer to other banking institutions and it happens instantly as
05:20well and it's absolutely transparent when it comes to cost there's no hidden fees or anything like
05:25you don't get a statement at the end of the month with all these fees that you were not expecting
05:28to
05:29get everything is completely upfront with wise there actually isn't any monthly fees at all like
05:33it's completely free so one of the best features about having this and being able to access cash with the
05:40wise money card is they actually offer free ATM withdrawals up to 200 pounds per month so the
05:45first 200 pounds is free and then after that honestly the fees are laughably low compared to any of
05:52the big banks there's absolutely no subscription fee either for the app or the card so unlike other
05:57banks where they charge like a yearly fee there's no fee at all if I want to store money on
06:01the card
06:02I'm not paying a annual fee like I would in a savings account and even when I do go to
06:07transfer my
06:08money into another currency it will tell me the rate beforehand so I can go and double check it and
06:13make sure that it's actually a good rate before I go and transfer anything and if it's not I won't
06:18transfer it but I haven't ran into that problem yet and it's actually surprisingly super user friendly
06:23all you have to do is download the app and you can activate a virtual card and a physical card
06:28right
06:28away and the interface is actually really easy to use as you can see the app has a really clean
06:33design
06:33with clear labels for each feature making it really straightforward for me to navigate and topping it up
06:39is super simple as well I literally just go into my banking app and I top it up in real
06:44time it'll
06:45instantly top up to my wise account so if I don't want to store all of my money on this
06:50card because
06:50I'm afraid it might get stolen or hacked or whatever and I want to keep my money in my bank
06:55account
06:55that's fine before I go to make a purchase I can just top up my card and straight away that
07:00money
07:00is available for me which is awesome and I can hold multiple currencies at one time so for instance I
07:06can hold Thai Bart on this card but also have like Aussie dollars or US dollars or Canadian dollars and
07:12then save it for when I'm traveling to that country so I don't have to have everything on the one
07:17currency at one time also you can actually freeze the digital money card straight away after a purchase
07:22so if you want to just use the digital card as like a one-off to make an online purchase
07:27and you
07:27don't want to risk this one getting hacked you make your purchase and then you freeze that card you can
07:32use it as a one-off it's completely safe so yeah that's my review uh for the wise travel money
07:38card
07:38actually I want to thank you guys for recommending it because it's been a complete game changer for us
07:43before we had this card honestly I spent so much time and money on overseas phone calls to my banks
07:50reminding them that I'm still traveling because that's what I do I travel full-time I don't have
07:54to do that anymore I hope you enjoyed this review if you're somebody who travels a lot and is looking
08:00for a safe secure but easy travel money card to use that has access to multiple currencies
08:07extremely low fees then honestly it's a no-brainer and if anybody ever asks me what travel money card
08:13I recommend I tell them wise because we've had no problems whatsoever if you want to use the wise
08:18travel money card for yourself just check out the link down below I'll leave it in the description and
08:23in the pinned comment and remember if you sign up using my link you will get your first $500
