YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed regret over his party's previous decision to back changes to the Chief Election Commissioner selection bill, asserting that ruling parties should not nominate central or state election commissioners. Arguing that an examiner cannot be appointed by the student, he called for a neutral appointment body, triggering questions about YSRCP's future issue-based backing for the NDA on matters such as delimitation. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu lashed out at Reddy over his remarks, accusing him of double standards for supporting the process when in power and criticising it after electoral defeat.

00:00Jagan Mohan Reddy, 24 hours ago, made a statement that's led to a lot of questions.
00:05What has he said? He's in fact come out to say that the decision by the YSRCP
00:10to back the changes in the CEC selection bill were wrong.
00:14And so there are questions now about whether the issue-based support
00:18that the YSRCP used to provide to the NDA is now something he is not going to be on board
00:25with.
00:25In which case, that's another party that the NDA will have to strike off
00:29as far as support on delimitation goes.
00:31But we're also getting you a reaction now from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidoo
00:35who's lashed out at Jagan Mohan Reddy over his comment on the Election Commission.
00:39He's accused him of double standards, saying that when it was in the YSRCP's favour,
00:45it was all hunky-dory, but when it isn't, that's when they'll call it out.
00:49And so Chandrababu Naidoo has said that this is double standards.
00:52Let's listen in to what Jagan Mohan Reddy had said yesterday
00:54and the response from the Andhra Chief Minister.
01:25If the examiner cannot be appointed by the student,
01:31the examiner can't be appointed by the student.
01:34The examiner can't be appointed by a neutral body.
01:45So neutral body, Mally Ravali.
01:47So the examiner can be appointed by a neutral body.
02:25Okay, so it will be interesting to see whether YSARCP comes on board on delimitation or not. Crucial, much needed
02:35support there for the NTA.
