00:00The Big 12 says Notre Dame's game at BYU ended one second early.
00:05On Saturday night in Provo, No. 8 BYU was holding a 28-24 lead over No. 2 Notre Dame.
00:12Notre Dame had first and goal, and quarterback C.J. Carr threw an incomplete pass in the end zone.
00:18The officials ruled the game over, and BYU celebrated the upset.
00:22But replays showed the ball hit the ground with one second still on the clock.
00:26By rule, that should have given Notre Dame one more play.
00:30Shortly after the game, the Big 12 said the replay crew incorrectly cleared the play,
00:35and the conference is reviewing its end-of-game officiating process before next week's games.
00:40The final score stands, though.
00:42BYU keeps the win, and Notre Dame's 16-game winning streak is over.
00:47Notre Dame is an independent, so the opposing team's conference supplies the officials,
00:51and this time that was the Big 12 crew.
00:53It's also the second big clock controversy this season.
00:57In September, Michigan beat Western Michigan after replay added a second to the clock,
01:02and the NCAA later said the replay protocols weren't followed.
01:06Should a conference be able to change a result when it admits its officials made a mistake like this?
