00:08Ladies and gentlemen, at this time,
00:11may I introduce your special referee for the upcoming contest, Lita.
00:17Lita finds herself right in the middle of this brother versus brother controversy.
00:22She obviously loves a Mad Hardy, but she looks at Jeff Hardy like the brother she
00:28never had.
00:39My God, what a ref.
00:48The following contest is scheduled for one fall.
00:52Introducing first from Cambridge, North Carolina, weighing 218 pounds.
00:58Jim Hardy.
01:01Is it gonna be good, JR?
01:03These two young men growing up in Cameron, North Carolina,
01:05probably had a lot of front yard scuffles.
01:07This has elevated from that.
01:09This is really gonna be a high risk fest, one would have to assume.
01:14And perhaps the first to crash and burn will lose this match.
01:20Brother versus brother.
01:24From Cameron, North Carolina, weighing 223 pounds, Matt Hardy.
01:33Matt Hardy a couple years older than his brother, Jim.
01:36These two have prepared basically their entire life to get the opportunity to come to
01:41the WWF.
01:43They are here.
01:43They're recognized arguably as one of the greatest tag teams in the whole history of
01:48the business.
01:48Right.
01:49No problem.
01:50I agree 100%.
01:51They proved their work as a tag team.
01:54They've been there, done that.
01:55Now let's get it off and find out which one of these guys is actually the best
01:59individual single wrestler.
02:01Three members of Team X3 know what's at stake here.
02:06This could be a situation that could bring closure to this personal issue
02:10between the brothers or it could divide it even farther.
02:13Yeah.
02:14Could bring closure to the relationship between Matt and Lita.
02:17She's not careful.
02:18You know what Lita needs to do right now?
02:20She needs to remember the words of one of your favorite all time singers,
02:24old Tammy Wynette.
02:26Old Tammy.
02:26How do you stand by your man?
02:30I see if she stands by her man or calls her down the middle,
02:33I gotta believe that Lita's character, she's gonna call her right down the middle.
02:37And this crowd here, certainly divided and almost reluctant to boo either guy
02:45because of the popularity of both these young men.
02:48Sure.
02:48These guys right now though, they don't care who gets booed, look at that.
02:51They don't care who gets booed, who tears.
02:53They have to prove a point for yourself.
02:56Of course, Matt wants to prove a little bit to Lita.
02:58Come on, Jeff.
03:00You got a thing.
03:00Matt doing some verbalizing with his younger brother, Jeff.
03:04And certainly, Jeff never saw a chance he didn't love to take.
03:08Team Extreme, all three members of Team Extreme here in the ring.
03:12I think Jeff never saw a hair salon he didn't avoid, do you?
03:15Have you spent hours on his hair today?
03:17I don't know about that.
03:18It is unique as usual.
03:21Unique?
03:23Going back to take down by Jeff Hardy.
03:27That comes hours on his head and then he wears a hat to the ring.
03:30Barring the arm of his brother, Matt.
03:35And certainly four men back in the locker room area gotta be thinking about what
03:39hand will deal them tonight as we crown an undisputed champion.
03:43Really for the first time in our business.
03:47Four men looking at that one opportunity to be the first undisputed champion.
03:52And what about Kurt Angle?
03:53And that gives me a little cost for concern.
03:56He busted in on Ric Flair.
03:58I couldn't tell who Kurt was trying to convince, Flair himself.
04:01Knocked down by Matt Hardy, taking down his brother Jeff.
04:04Both these men who we thought would come out with all the high risk and have not seen
04:11that yet.
04:11You get glue on your hands there.
04:13Ooh!
04:14And drive the fist right down on Jeff.
04:16Lita, good position.
04:18Got the cover.
04:19Got a two count there.
04:21Stand there, show us now.
04:28And Jeff asserting himself here.
04:31It seems to me that Jeff is, or Matt rather I should say.
04:36Excuse me, has a little bit more of an attitude problem than Jeff.
04:41Hold the phone there.
04:43I think he's been, I think he's been given a little bit more of an attitude.
04:48I watched that video highlight the package there.
04:52You gotta admit, JR, Jeff Hardy has shown some signs of being selfish as I believe.
04:58Well, he has taken some unnecessary risk.
05:00I don't know if it's selfish or not, but certainly bad judgment at times.
05:03But there's a take down after that thumb to the eye moments ago.
05:06Look at Lita.
05:07And Lita looking, you're really looking at Lita.
05:09Uh-huh.
05:09You have never evaluated a referee as thoroughly as you are here tonight.
05:19Uh-oh, look at this.
05:20They were all applied by Matt Hardy.
05:22Gotta slow you down, everybody.
05:26And they're getting a fade away here.
05:28And this certainly will be a very uncharacteristic way for
05:32Hardys to win or lose the match.
05:34Side headlock.
05:35Looks like Jeff was sticking for the sleeper.
05:38And Matt countered the side headlock with a suplex.
05:40Matt's got a little bit of extra incentive.
05:42You know, whoever wins this match, of course, they're gonna prove a point.
05:45Better brother, but Matt, if he wins, whoa, he's gonna celebrate Lita tonight.
05:52Party all night long.
05:54Matt spent too much time in the second turn bubble thinking about it.
05:57And certainly one would have to assume that these two guys can't really do anything
06:01that the other hasn't seen.
06:03It may come down to that one big crash and burn mistake as Jeff quickens the pace here
06:08a little bit.
06:10Presently forcing his brother back in the corner, but the loop was reversed to the far
06:14side.
06:16Look at Lita.
06:18Look at that.
06:22And Jeff connected with his leg drop.
06:24Let's see what Lita does.
06:26And the kick out by Matt Hardy before the three count.
06:30A very solid, deliberate count by Lita.
06:34Matt can't believe that.
06:40Jeff walked the ropes.
06:42Got taken down, rather unceremoniously.
06:44Now he's tied up.
06:46It's more of that showboating by Jeff.
06:49It cost him there, but it's cost a team in the past.
06:52And that's what- Wait a minute, Lita.
06:55Lita's doing her job.
06:58Gonna tie a Jeff with that rope.
07:02And Matt doesn't like him.
07:03That's good officiating by Frank.
07:05Why ain't that good officiating?
07:06See, he was in the ropes, he can't let him, can't beat him in the ropes.
07:10And there's a cover to, here Paul.
07:13Was that a little bit of a slow count?
07:17Starting to- I think you're seeing things.
07:19We'll start reading more into this now.
07:20Okay, I hope I'm not seeing this.
07:22She is an inexperienced referee too, we might add.
07:25How much experience does it take to count of three.
07:29And trying to get the sunset flip.
07:31And that's countered by his brother.
07:34And these guys, they're taking some chances.
07:37Jeff's head bounced right off the floor also.
07:41And it would be somewhat poetic if this match ended up a count out.
07:46I don't think that's gonna happen.
07:48I don't know if it's suddenly anything, but certainly it would be perhaps apropos for
07:52the competitive level of both these young men.
08:02And Jeff may have hurt himself.
08:04He'll jam that left knee, I'm not sure.
08:07Coming over in that unorthodox fashion.
08:10Unorthodox, is that the best way to describe it or showboating again?
08:15And look at Matt go right to that injured leg.
08:19You gotta do it, JR.
08:20You can't play favorite too.
08:21Because that's your brother.
08:22You gotta win this match.
08:23It'll be free forever.
08:24Right.
08:28Downstairs went Matt.
08:30First sign of weakness on Jeff and Matt now exploding it here.
08:37You gotta wonder how far Matt will take it, Kate.
08:40He'll take it as far as he uses his leg to beat his brother.
08:46I guess I just answered my question.
08:48He did that, did you ever think you'd see this, Matt, JR?
08:52That's right.
08:52You gotta feel it.
08:53Part of what we know.
08:54I always wanted to, but I didn't think I'd ever see it.
08:57One more.
08:58One more.
09:00One more.
09:02There's no gray area here what Matt is intending to do and that is to-
09:05Come on, love.
09:06Come on, Chuck, bro.
09:07Cripple his brother here in this match.
09:09Never thought I'd see Lita in that outfit either.
09:12You hope you would.
09:12Uh-huh.
09:16Trying to load up his brother.
09:18There you go.
09:20Whoa.
09:22And Jeff countering to the side Russian leg sweep.
09:27Hey, look at this.
09:28Could be up there.
09:30Man.
09:32Took everything he had to get out of that.
09:34That countered.
09:35Going right back to work on that leg.
09:38It is a cold hard strategy for Matt Hardy on the half Austin Crab.
09:43Get down there, Lita.
09:44See if Jeff's gonna tap out.
09:47She looks to me like she's in pretty good position.
09:50Don't make me say that again.
09:51Make that call.
09:52Yeah.
09:56Matt pointing back on that leg of his brother Jeff.
09:59And Jeff reaching and finds the bottom rope.
10:01Lita's gonna fall for the break here.
10:03And Matt doing it rather slowly.
10:05He's got the whole five count.
10:09And Matt broke just before the five count.
10:12Do you think Lita would've actually disqualified Matt?
10:14I think she would've.
10:15I think she would've, King.
10:17I think he's gonna fall right down the middle as best she can.
10:20We're gonna turn on you to something, won't they?
10:23You know that.
10:25Uh-oh, look at this.
10:26Whoa!
10:30That looked like he might be attempting a spinning toehold, but
10:34his back turned to his brother and then kicked right outside.
10:40Just brought Jeff a little bit of time to get his legs back there.
10:46That's not good enough for Jeff Hartley.
10:49Right in the mouth.
10:50One leg or not, here came the baseball slide.
10:54Lita, if you allow much more of that, he's not gonna be able to kiss you tonight during that celebration.
10:59Uh-oh.
11:00No wheels.
11:01Jeff, no wheels is right.
11:02Jeff's gonna blow out.
11:04Just gonna blow out.
11:05He was gonna come over the top rope, it looked like, with a cross body.
11:09That leg gave away on him.
11:11And Matt Hardy, like it or not, this is good strategy.
11:14No!
11:15That's the best real kick by Jeff.
11:17Playing the mouth again.
11:20Why not be no smooching going on tonight?
11:22One, two, three, four, five.
11:37Right hand by Jeff and Matt counters.
11:39And I tell you what, I don't know who's gonna win a fist fight here.
11:42My money kind of is on Matt.
11:44A little bit the bigger of the two, and he ain't got that bad wheel.
11:48Going down, look at the twist of fate.
11:50And he weighed too long.
11:52And the fate is both of the heels of Jeff Hardy and the lower abdomen of his brother Matt.
11:58What about that, Lita?
11:59Kissing's one thing, but now we're getting serious.
12:02Move!
12:02Right along the waistline.
12:04There'll be no celebration tonight at all.
12:06Look at Jeff Linton.
12:08He has had a hard time.
12:10You talk about going caution to the wind.
12:13Uh-oh.
12:14Not caring about the consequences, not worrying about tomorrow.
12:19And Jeff Hardy took a little bit more time than he is used to on that bad leg.
12:24He can't climb.
12:26Gave Matt a little time to get back up.
12:29Now this don't look good.
12:32That light, rough landing.
12:36Put your tray tables up.
12:37Come on!
12:39Come on!
12:40And now Matt, maybe you're just academic here, Matt.
12:43Almost waiting on Jeff to get back up to some sort of verticality.
12:48Here we go!
12:50Verticality.
12:52And Matt trying the twist of fate.
12:54That got countered.
12:56Just countered.
12:57Backslide.
12:58Backslide.
12:59And Lita.
12:59A long two hit.
13:03A long two hit.
13:08They're trying to still holding on those legs.
13:12And there's a fitting predicament here.
13:14Jeff and the ropes.
13:15And Lita catching her boyfriend using the ropes for unfair advantage.
13:20And I think Jeff or Matt would rather her just not see that.
13:24And there's a roll up.
13:25A roll up by Matt or Jeff on Matt and got a near fall.
13:29Boy, Lita's not hesitating to count on Matt.
13:31Wow, wow, did you see that?
13:33Come on, Jeff.
13:35Hard take down and knock down more specifically by Matt Hardy and his brother Jeff.
13:40It's gotta be hard for Matt to concentrate on what he's gonna do to Jeff when he's
13:43in the back of his mind he's thinking that, look at Lita, the way she's acting towards him.
13:48Matt's his girlfriend.
13:50Hey, it was Matt's idea for Lita to officiate this match.
13:53Right, because you expect your girlfriend to show you a little partiality.
13:57Didn't you expect that?
13:58I don't think that's the kind of person Lita is.
14:00She's got a job to do.
14:01She's doing the best she can as Matt just got his face introduced to that tough turnbuckle.
14:06And again, Jeff Hardy.
14:07Matt could lead out to a dance or something.
14:10She'd just dance with anybody all night long.
14:13This ain't no dance.
14:14Show no partiality.
14:15This ain't the senior prom.
14:16Well, similar.
14:19Man, look at this.
14:20Man.
14:21And there's a move.
14:24Matt just got countered from the top.
14:26Uh-oh.
14:27And Jeff, when Matt down, Jeff up.
14:30Can he hit?
14:31He does.
14:32The swan time.
14:34One leg and all.
14:36Jeff Hardy just hit the swan time.
14:38What are you gonna do, Lita?
14:39One, two, three.
14:41And Matt trying to get his foot on the rope.
14:43Lita didn't see it.
14:44To the winner, Jeff Hurley.
14:46Now wait a minute.
14:48Lita had her head down looking at shoulders.
14:51Was Matt's foot on the rope?
14:53I believe it was.
14:54And Jeff pulled her right off.
14:57Lita.
14:58Lita had her head down looking at Matt's shoulders.
15:01Yeah, but wait a minute, listen.
15:06Matt trying to explain what happened, but the winner is Jeff Hardy.
15:12Lita.
15:14Lita made the only call she saw.
15:18Yeah, but did you see Matt's foot on the rope?
15:20I did.
15:23And Matt is not waiting around to congratulate his brother or discuss the officiating.
15:29Matt Hardy is leaving and certainly enough with a smile on his face.
