00:00Who's faster down the mountain, me or a kangaroo?
00:02I have no idea.
00:05You gotta see this card here.
00:07Does that make any sense? No?
00:09Hi, I'm Scotty James and I'm going to play Travel IQ.
00:12It's gonna test me. Period.
00:14First one is, Aspen is in which US state?
00:19Colorado.
00:20Tick, I think.
00:22Which Canadian city hosted your first Olympics?
00:25My first Olympics was in 2010. I was 15.
00:29I ate an immense amount of McDonald's at the time because it was free.
00:32And that city was Vancouver.
00:35Your first snowboard was a $10 display board from which city?
00:40I have no idea.
00:43I was very young at the time.
00:45My dad traveled overseas and walked into a snowboard store
00:49and there was a door stop, which was a snowboard.
00:52My dad ended up buying it for $10 and brought it back to me in Australia.
00:56But I don't remember the city it was in.
01:00I want to say Whistler.
01:01Yeah, I don't know exactly where it was.
01:03Oh, it was in Vancouver.
01:05Okay, a lot of good memories in Vancouver.
01:08Okay, Montreal is in which Canadian province?
01:11I feel like this is a trick question because my wife is from Montreal.
01:15I'm going to say Quebec.
01:18Yes!
01:20Making her proud.
01:22Also where I had my first ever smoked meat sandwich.
01:27Incredible bagels.
01:28Poutine.
01:29Yeah, gravy with the cheese and the french fries.
01:32Having to lean back on the poutine these days.
01:34Yeah, it doesn't quite help with the tricks and the halfpipe.
01:37Which mountain hosts X Games Aspen?
01:42I know this very well.
01:43One of my favourite mountains in the world is called Buttermilk.
01:47I've been able to stand on the podium there many a time.
01:51The atmosphere is always incredible.
01:53The first time I won there was 2017, I believe.
01:58Yeah, since then.
01:59Had a good run.
02:00We compete at night there because I think that's just Aspen.
02:04That's the X Games.
02:05That is historically the men's super putt finals always been at night.
02:10So that's what we still do now.
02:14Where is the next Winter Olympics?
02:17See you there?
02:19I think the see you there part is like asking my joints rather than me personally in my head.
02:26But my joints say yes and my head says yes, my body says yes.
02:29So yes, I will see you there.
02:31And it is in France, which is exciting.
02:34I love Europe.
02:35I spent a lot of time in the mountains there in the Alps.
02:38I train there.
02:39I compete there.
02:39So it'll feel like home.
02:42But you know, between now and in four years, I'll work on my French.
02:46And then I'll really feel like I have an edge on all of my competitors.
02:50Particularly when we start talking some BS behind each other's backs.
02:55The real question is, am I going to see you there?
02:59Dream trip you still have not taken?
03:03Actually going far north.
03:05So Finland or in Scandinavia and seeing the Northern Lights.
03:09I haven't done that yet.
03:10I've seen the Northern Lights a couple of times from the plane.
03:13But to actually go and spend some time far north like that would be amazing.
03:18Okay, where would you take someone who has never been to Australia and only knows beaches and kangaroos?
03:26In Victoria, the one place that's incredible is the Great Ocean Road, which is west of Melbourne.
03:32It's amazing.
03:33You've got all these incredible coastline.
03:35But I think going into the high country, which is where I spend a lot of time, is where all
03:40the snowy mountains are.
03:42It's about 500 kilometres long.
03:44It's unbelievable.
03:45We're obviously known for the beaches, but I would definitely try and go inland if you can.
03:51You grew up in Warrandyte, which sits along which major Melbourne River?
03:55The Yarra River, which is one of our longest rivers in Australia.
03:59And it runs all the way through the city of Melbourne.
04:03What is the most Melbourne coffee order?
04:06That's got to be a flat white.
04:09100%.
04:10What is the most Australian thing about you that survives no matter where you go?
04:16My accent?
04:18100%.
04:19It absolutely kills me when Australians end up with like, sorry, but an American accent or a Canadian accent.
04:29I've pretty well lived overseas the majority of my life.
04:33And I've always held on to my accent.
04:36So when someone says to me, oh, yeah.
04:39Yeah, you know, I've lived in the US for a year or I've lived in the US for two years.
04:44I'm like, hold up.
04:46That's not an excuse.
04:47You got to hold on to that Aussie accent.
04:49And my bloodstones.
04:51They come everywhere.
04:53You got to see this card here.
04:55When driving in Melbourne, what is this manoeuvre called?
05:00To be honest, I don't actually know what the manoeuvre is called.
05:03If this was the intersection, it'll be a green light.
05:08It goes red before you can turn.
05:10It is here.
05:11So you pull out into the intersection and you wait here, but then you can't turn right.
05:18Then this goes red.
05:20That goes green.
05:21And then you can turn right.
05:22Oh, it's called a hook turn.
05:25Does that make any sense?
05:26No?
05:27Okay.
05:27Well, maybe don't do it.
05:29Just avoid any of these intersections in Melbourne.
05:32If you see one, just drive through it and go to the next one.
05:36Name one Australian or Victorian destination you'd send someone to if they didn't believe
05:43Australia has winter sports.
05:46Well, most people, yeah.
05:47Most people don't even realise that we have mountains in Australia.
05:51Mountains high enough with temperatures cold enough to actually have snow.
05:55I would send them to Threadbow in Australia.
05:58You actually do see a lot of wombats and kangaroos, which is very cool.
06:01So you could be skiing and you could see a kangaroo or you could see a wombat in the springtime.
06:06And even me still now, when I see them, it's like very cool.
06:11Who's faster down the mountain, me or a kangaroo?
06:14Probably the kangaroo, mainly because I would be following the kangaroo
06:18and just in awe that I'm snowboarding next to a kangaroo.
06:21That's great.
06:22Monaco sits on which sea?
06:25Mediterranean Sea.
06:27I actually had to think about that for a second.
06:30You land at Nice Airport and need to get to Monaco.
06:34What is the real move?
06:35Train, car or helicopter?
06:37Depends the budget.
06:41Helicopter, obviously, if you want to be efficient.
06:44And to be fair, they actually have some pretty good options from Nice to Monaco.
06:49Train, I have not done yet.
06:51If I get on any train, usually around the world, I end up somewhere that I wasn't planning or didn't
06:57want to end up.
06:58So car or if you can, get in the helicopter because flying in to Monaco is pretty badass in a
07:05helicopter.
07:06When Monaco gets too busy, where do you go?
07:10I usually get on my bike and ride into the mountains.
07:14That's the best way to get out of Monaco and just get some fresh air during the tourist season.
07:19Villefranche is beautiful.
07:20It's not too far.
07:22It's about a 15 minute drive.
07:23Going to Ramatuel is amazing, which is near Saint-Tropez.
07:27That whole area is very cool.
07:28So when it's really, really busy in Monaco, you usually try and get out and go to any of those
07:34towns and spend some time away.
07:38What's the Monaco local move you only learn after living there?
07:42I feel there's a lot of restaurants that, unless you've been living there or you're local, you don't really know
07:50about.
07:50One for me personally is called Puccinella because it has amazing Italian, probably the best lasagna in the world I've
07:57ever had.
07:58And it's in this little back alley where you wouldn't really go if you were just there visiting.
08:05So yeah, Puccinella, shout out.
08:07I go there if you're in town.
08:10What is the biggest misconception people have about Monaco?
08:14I feel like people stereotype Monaco pretty well.
08:19It is kind of what you see generally from online and a lot of the things that people say about
08:25it.
08:25Obviously, there's a lot of nice cars in Monaco and everyone has a nice car.
08:29We all are either on a Vespa or driving like a smart car.
08:34It's too hard to get around, the streets are all too narrow and it's just way more efficient and easier
08:40to get around.
08:41So the biggest misconception I would say is everyone is driving a Ferrari every single day to the shops and
08:46home.
08:46It's just not the truth.
08:47And that's look how it was between the pessoas.
