00:06What goes through your mind, particularly the half pipe, that in itself, the pipe itself
00:12is 7 metres, 6 metres?
00:15Yeah, 22 foot, so that's like 7 metres.
00:187 metres?
00:19Yeah.
00:19You were hitting 5 and a half, sort of 6 metres above that, what's going through your head
00:25at that point?
00:25The best thing you can do is not use your brain, basically, well I think when you think
00:33about it, it gets too complicated, you know, how technical and how minimal room for error
00:39you have, so what I try to do is just like, not spend too much time up there thinking
00:45about it and just drop and go for it, you know, and trust my body to do what I've taught
00:52it to do over, how many years has it been, 17 years of practice.
00:59Have your strategy set, you probably have muscle memory of your run already, like you would
01:04have done in training and whatever else, and then, yeah, when it's comp time, you just go
01:10out and do your best to stomp it.
01:17Yeah, I was super stoked to kind of do the best riding that I'd done on a jump in a
01:22long
01:22time and make it through to the finals, and then really have a shot at getting on that
01:28podium and stuff, and I think if I landed my last jump I probably would have been there,
01:33but that was a trick I'd never landed before, and I don't know, in that moment you just have
01:38to go for it, and yeah, I was proud that I went for it, and have no regrets, and I
01:49didn't
01:49land my best stuff either, you know, so I wish I did, and I did everything I could to
01:54do that, in the qualies I definitely like, at least for big air, like maxed out my, almost
02:01maxed out my potential, and then in the finals I got close, but I think if I could have got
02:06everything that I wanted to done, maybe would have been a different story, but, you know,
02:11even after a massive injury that, like, took me out of the sport for eight months, and then
02:16in the biggest comp of every four years, like, that I was that close to being there, is like,
02:23um, I don't know, it's a good indication of what's possible, and I'm looking for, looking
02:29forward to the next few years, yeah, our sport's constantly evolving, so, um, yeah, I'm looking
02:35to be one of the people that's pushing it forward, you know, so.
02:39How's it been returning home? Obviously, it's a little bit different now, back at the nursery
02:43in Vidala, but, uh, what's it been like just in the last couple of days, just, uh, seeing
02:48family?
02:49Yeah, no, for sure, it's great. Um, well, it's warm, and as you can see, I'm pretty sunburned,
02:55pretty sunburned, got straight back in the ocean, and, yeah, surfing as much as I can,
03:00and also catching up with Nonna and Nonna, which is so nice, and, um, really feeling the
03:05support, uh, yeah, really feeling the support from, um, home, and, like, everyone coming
03:12out, and, like.
03:13How much of that, how much of that were you aware of when you were in Italy? Like, just
03:17to see, I'm seeing, like, the, um, Naruma School, the Dalmini, you know, all the kids are
03:21getting, wearing wigs, wearing green and gold, and.
03:24It's pretty awesome. I definitely, like, saw lots of that stuff online, and, um, super
03:29honoured that, I don't know, that the community has supported me so much, and, um, yeah, all
03:37I want to do is just make them proud, you know.
03:38Fantastic.
03:43Yeah.
03:44What, what's the, what's the vibe?
03:45Oh, it's amazing. Well, well, Josie is, is a crazy one, because I've known her since I
03:51was probably six. Okay.
03:53And, um, her dad was actually, Peter Baff, he's, like, I don't know, a bit of an Aussie
03:58legend among, among all the snowboarders, because he's the person that told my dad to take me
04:05overseas to, like, kind of pursue a career in, in snowboarding, you know. And then, now,
04:11Josie's got a gold, and, um, yeah, it's insane. Someone that you grew up with winning a gold
04:19medal, and then, hopefully, we can, we can share that experience after the next Olympics.
04:24Yes. Yeah. So, where, where is the next Olympics?
04:27In France.
04:28In France? Okay.
04:29Yeah. What's next for you? I mean, I'm sure there's, there'll be a lot before then, sort
04:32of, World, World Cups or something, or?
04:34Well, yeah, no, I think after the Olympics, it's nice to, kind of, keep meaning in your life
04:39instead of, like, I, I don't know what I would do if I just didn't have anything to work towards
04:45anymore, so I'm actually going to Japan on Monday.
04:48Okay.
04:48To go and do another World Cup, and then I'll do a bit of training over there as well, and
04:53then
04:53after that, I'm going to go back to Europe for some more World Cups. So, yeah, the season
04:58goes on, and I'm looking forward to it.
05:00Oh, no. Alright.
