00:00At this point, I'm sure everybody's aware with what the autoplay feature is, but basically after

00:03video ends, if you have it enabled, then YouTube will automatically select the video to play next

00:07based on your watch history. And so I had a thought, what would happen if you had no search

00:11history? How would YouTube decide which video to play next? And even further, what if you played

00:15this out? Not only for 10 videos or 100 videos, but for 1,000 straight videos. Well, that's what

00:20we're going to be doing today, watching 1,000 straight videos on autoplay to see where we end

00:24up. So as you can see, I'm starting in incognito mode here. This is a blank youtube.com search.

00:28I have no cookies. This is a completely fresh YouTube, no subscriptions or anything. There's

00:33no search history. I'm not even signed into any account. And so I think the best place

00:36to start is probably by starting with YouTube's most popular video. So we should start maybe

00:41with the number one trending video. So let's go ahead and start with Ryan Trahan. We'll

00:47go non-music video. I survived 50 hours in Apple vision pro. So video one is going to be

00:52a Ryan Trahan video in like general entertainment. So let's see where we end up along this journey.

00:57So the autoplay feature is right here. We have it on. Actually, I want to watch this

01:01video. So I'll probably go back and watch this. I mean, he's a great creator, but let's

01:04go to the end and let's see where they get to us. Okay. So next up video two is going

01:08to be another Ryan Trahan video. So I survived 50 hours on only Bitcoin. It's all about those

01:13challenges. I feel like I'm going to learn a lot about these creators because I'm sure

01:16a lot of the autoplay is going to be single creators. Video three is I metal detected a hundred

01:20miles of beach. So again, another Ryan Trahan video. This one from two years ago. So it's

01:25interesting, like the videos that they're choosing to promote based on previous ones.

01:28So we went from Bitcoin to now detecting metal on the beach. And after this, I played 50 years

01:33of video games. Okay. So now we're going back. I think we're entering the gaming genre. So

01:38I'm assuming we're going to be leaving Ryan pretty soon. I don't think he's known for having a lot of

01:42gaming videos. What'd I say? Okay. So the fifth video from PrestonPlays, 100 myths Minecraft is

01:47hiding from you. So number five is a PrestonPlays video. Okay. So this is actually interesting. So now

01:52we're pivoting to gaming. So does YouTube want a normal creator to go gaming? I feel like you're

01:56going to learn a lot about like where YouTube algorithm psychology is heading. So video five

02:01is from PrestonPlays. And now we're going to Sonny. I'm not familiar with who Sonny is,

02:05but for video six, okay. Using only one color in hide and seek Minecraft. So we're solidly in

02:11Minecraft now. So it looks like video six is in Minecraft. Let's go ahead and get to the end here.

02:17Digging to Ohio and everywhere in Roblox. Now we're going to Roblox from Sonny Melon World.

02:22I'm guessing this is also Sonny's channel. Wow. He's really making those long videos. So that is

02:26number seven. Also, I'm probably going to lose track of like what number I'm on. So just bear

02:30with me. Maybe I'll make like a little counter. So this is seven. Eight is going to be Titan Drillman

02:34versus upgraded Titan Cinema Man. So this is weird. It looks like we're just literally hanging around

02:40in Sonny Melon World. I don't even know if this is gaming anymore. So Sonny Melon World, I mean,

02:45big beneficiary of YouTube autoplay. He's not like the biggest creator in the world,

02:49but it's a recent video too. For video eight, we are dealing with Sonny Melon World. Shout out to

02:53you. Okay. So video nine is all poppy playtime three huggy wuggy dog day cat. So what is this

03:00game? This is called, uh, I forget what it's called, but this guy's from some sort of scary,

03:05I think it's called like Barden's garden or something like that. So it's interesting that

03:08YouTube nine videos in is recommending two hour long videos and this isn't even gaming. So now we're

03:14just on like toys. Definitely kids content though. Like it seems like they're gearing towards kids.

03:18So a lot of this has been just like kid, I guess, cause I'm not confirmed 18. So they're

03:22going to mainly show me kids stuff. All right. So video 10 is project playtime select all menu

03:27bosses. Okay. I don't know like how this is popping up. This is a video from three hours

03:30ago. It's on autoplay. So we started with Ryan Trahan and now we're at GGTP and I don't even know

03:36what he's playing project playtime. So they went from two hour videos to a two hour and 15 minute

03:41video and onto video 11. Okay. So poppy playtime is the game that I think we're like living with

03:46the most here. Okay. Poppy's playtime. I've never played this in my life. Another long video. It

03:50seems like two hours is like the spot that YouTube is really getting people to watch video

03:54number 12. We have another poppy playtime chapter three. Okay. Video 13 doesn't look like it's in

04:01pot is playtime. It is part of, okay. Playtime. This playtime niche is massive, but games tune for

04:06video 13. Finally, we got like another huge channel, 10.6 million subscribers. It's crazy how big

04:11YouTube is how like there's so many creators that just have like millions of subscribers and I've never

04:15even heard of them. Catnap wants revenge. So again, now we're still on game tunes. I think

04:20this is still playtime based. Yep. Moving on to 15 and we have the evolution of catnip bosses. Okay.

04:26So now we're going to maybe like size comparison slash historical mixed in with gaming for video 14.

04:32All right. Now we've gone into funny animations that will make you laugh from Gary blocks. Okay. So

04:37we're kind of out of gaming a little bit. We're into react for video 16 top 20 videos on autoplay.

04:43We're already getting heavy react content. Wow. Gary blocks benefiting big time from

04:47this autoplay feature three videos straight for him for video straight. They're really,

04:52how many videos has he made on funny animations that will make you laugh? How Mikey found a JJ's

04:57head in the box by turtle Mikey with 7.51 K subscribers. Wow. So this is a video that did

05:03super well by turtle Mikey. I don't know. This might be his first video. Obviously I can't see it,

05:07but turtle Mikey again, this video only has 61 K views. So based on a Ryan Trahan video,

05:13if you just left your YouTube autoplay overnight going, you'd wind up on turtle Mikey. Okay. That's

05:18kind of interesting video 20 and here we are turtle Mikey again. Wow. This man is benefiting big time.

05:22This is why I just keep posting. You never know what's working for you in the backend still on

05:32So I think based on Mikey, we now went to tomato noob Minecraft, another smaller channel with 300

06:08another Poppy from Astral Spiff, Astral Spiff again, all of Poppy chapter three. So another

06:14long playthrough, the new scary train game mode. Guess what? It's for, is this Poppy? Oh,

11:13at Freddy's Gary's mod video. So we've been stuck in Gary's mod land for quite some time.

31:31created a day prior to this video being filmed. And we went all the way to sword versus pumps

31:37infected new in Fortnite from Sunday, five years ago in a thousand videos. I think the biggest trend

31:43that I noticed is that when you leave autoplay going, YouTube not only likes to feed you the same

31:48creators multiple times, but the same type of content, which obviously makes sense.

31:52But the extent to which they do that, I mean, they really think you enjoy a topic. The moment

31:56you watch a single video, I watched one poppy's playtime three video, and then I ended up getting

32:01at least a hundred total throughout the thousand, like 10% of the videos were poppy playtime 10%

32:06were Roblox 10% were among us 10% were Minecraft 10% were like Gary's mod. It was just,

32:12you know,

32:12a mishmash of gaming videos. So I think YouTube is heading back in a gaming direction because

32:17it's family friendly and it's easy to put out a lot of content in gaming and YouTube values having

32:21a lot of content on their channel. So that's my read of it. I'm going to go like take a

32:24bath

32:24or something. I feel like my mind needs to be stimulated by something. That was an interesting
