Jeremy White and Joe DiBiase discuss the play of Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix as he is STRUGGLING to find his game with the Broncos, yet they keep finding ways to win. They react to Ryan Fitzpatrick’s incredibly strong comments on the postgame show, and discuss just how harsh the criticism is. They also transition to a discussion about how crucial running the football will be against the Raiders on Sunday.

00:00It's a football Friday and a pizza Friday. I want to get you a talk of the tables early.
00:04Joe Kelly, I sent you the clip of Ryan Fitzpatrick taking apart Bo Nix.
00:10Talk of the tables brought to you by Treasure Cave, the official cheese of the Buffalo Bills.
00:14So, Amazon, one of the reasons Amazon has the best broadcast is they have the best.
00:20The way I heard Ryan Fitzpatrick just absolutely demolish Bo Nix after a win.
00:26So, first I want to give you a fits on Bo Nix last night.
00:30The Broncos won, and they are total posers. They are bad.
00:34They're not a good team. And yet, what are they, 4-2?
00:38Offensively, at least.
00:39Offensively, they're a disaster.
00:41They have three very impressive wins. Seattle, Jacksonville, and the Rams.
00:47That's insane to have beaten those three teams and still people think you are a joke.
00:50And yet, I feel like in Denver, they're arguing about, is this a winning way of football?
00:57Is this, right? Is the Bills model sustainable? Is the Denver model sustainable?
01:01Here's Fitz on Bo Nix after a win.
01:04I mean, I'm glad they scored the two touchdowns in the first half, but they were in four-minute mode
01:09when the second half started.
01:10It was really frustrating to watch.
01:12And part of it for me is Bo Nix is not playing competitively.
01:17It's almost disrespectful to the quarterback position, how he's playing football.
01:21What do you mean? What do you mean when you see? How is he playing?
01:24I mean, first of all, the guy doesn't want to throw the ball. That's fine.
01:27He's throwing to the flats. He's throwing behind.
01:28But he has no trust from his coach.
01:30He calls a screenplay on third and eight.
01:33Just run up and let the clock keep going.
01:36What does he do? He throws it away.
01:37Seattle gets the ball. They have a timeout.
01:39And then in overtime, he's got two chances to be competitive.
01:42The last one being a designed run for him to run, make somebody miss, and get a first down for
01:48your football team.
01:49Now, they're in the locker room right now.
01:52They're excited. They won.
01:53He's not playing competitive football right now.
01:57Man.
01:58When's the last time an analyst went that far after a player?
02:01Never.
02:03Not in a long time.
02:04Long time.
02:05And not after a win.
02:08I don't care that they won the game.
02:10We're evaluating how this player played.
02:12Yep.
02:14Don't give me the win is a win BS.
02:16That is awesome. I love that from Fitz.
02:19To follow that up.
02:19And it's totally accurate.
02:20Right.
02:21Doug Clawson, who is a researcher and writer at CBS Sports.
02:24You might see him sometimes on Twitter, Doug Clawson.
02:26He likes to tweet out some stats here and there.
02:29He found out of 701 qualified quarterback seasons through six games in the last 20 years.
02:36That's a fancy way to say the last 20 years quarterbacks in their first six games.
02:41Out of 701, Bo Nix ranks 701 in average pass length.
02:48But the Denver offense is on the leash of leashes.
02:52And his average pass was thrown behind the line of scrimmage in the second half yesterday.
02:58They traded for Jalen Waddell and their quarterback is, I mean, he's a mess.
03:03He can't play.
03:04That guy almost went to a Super Bowl.
03:06Right.
03:07Did you see the other stat Doug Clawson had on him?
03:09That in games where you average less than six yards per attempt,
03:17his record as an NFL quarterback averaging less than six yards an attempt is 13-3.
03:24Wow.
03:25And the rest of the league active quarterbacks right now has a 283 win percentage in those games.
03:33They win 28% of the time.
03:36He's 13-3.
03:37Matt Stafford, 15-39.
03:39Rodgers, 17-32.
03:41Goff, 7-23.
03:42Allen, 16-18.
03:44Allen's close to 500 probably just because he can run.
03:46Right.
03:46Right?
03:47Which Knicks used to be able to do.
03:49Right.
03:49But 13-3 when you're average.
03:51Like, six yards is bad, by the way.
03:52Like, that's a pretty good mark for, like, you didn't play well that day.
03:55Right.
03:56Seven is an average number.
03:57Right.
03:57So, basically, when he's not good, they are a 13-3 football team,
04:01which I think is just you're being lifted up by your defense.
04:04Yep.
04:04He's the anti-Allen.
04:07How different is he than, like, Tebow?
04:10It's got to be a little different.
04:11It's pretty bad.
04:12It's just bad.
04:13It's bad.
04:13I can't believe it.
04:14I can't believe the Bills lost to that guy and that team.
04:16Maybe that was part of their math.
04:18But that guy and that team got the one seed.
04:21They got the one seed last year.
04:22The defense was amazing.
04:23Well, I remember leading into that playoff game last year,
04:27looking up numbers and, like, seeing, like, what he did statistically
04:30and how it really wasn't impressive.
04:32No, there were doubts.
04:33They threw it.
04:33They were a volume passing game.
04:34They threw it a million times.
04:36For a guy, he led the NFL in pass attempts last year with 612.
04:39And if you look back in, like, the last 30 years of quarterbacks that attempted
04:43600 attempts in a year, he had, like, the lowest passing yards.
04:46Like, he didn't get to 4,000 yards passing with 600 attempts.
04:51Like, that was wildly inefficient last season.
04:54He just had big numbers.
04:55It looked like it because they threw the ball a million times.
04:58And how did they throw the ball?
04:59Look, right, you said last night.
05:01It's all at the line of scrimmage.
05:03A lot of it's at the line of scrimmage.
05:05There's not a lot of down-the-field stuff.
05:07And he got help.
05:09Yeah, I'm – it's, one, frustrating the Bills lost to them.
05:13And, two, I definitely don't want to believe in that team.
05:15No.
05:15Would have no fear of them.
05:16I mean, their defense, of course, could still be good and is still good.
05:20But, man, tough one.
05:22What do I mean?
05:23Would they score on the Bills, though?
05:25There's got to be some offenses that aren't going to score on this team.
05:28We know one.
05:29The Chargers.
05:29Chargers, right, Chargers.
05:30But is Denver's offense as bad as the Chargers' offense?
05:34I mean, if they're – yeah.
05:36It might be.
05:37It shouldn't be.
05:39I mean, they've got the pieces.
05:41What don't they have?
05:43I mean, they don't have the quarterback.
05:44But what else don't they have?
05:46Don't they kind of have everything else?
05:47I guess maybe they don't have a great run game.
05:50But, like, it's – you've got separators.
05:52You've got a big contested catch guy in Sutton.
05:56You've got, you know, a tight end who's pretty good.
05:58Like, I just don't really understand why he can't make that work.
06:02803-0550.
06:03Bills and Raiders.
06:05Joe Brady talking about James Cook.
06:07Feels like there's a little bit of what's the coach supposed to do here?
06:14Is the coach not allowed to say that he will take carries away from his star running back
06:20if his running back continues to fumble?
06:21Isn't that, like, a baseline thing?
06:23It feels like there was a mini-controversy this week started over Brady saying fumbling is bad.
06:29And if he continues to fumble, we have a problem.
06:33Yeah.
06:33What was he supposed to say?
06:35He's so good I don't care?
06:37Like, what was he really supposed to say?
06:39Anyway, craft the statement for those of you out there that thought he made a mistake.
06:44Maybe people around here didn't think it, but –
06:47Yeah, I didn't think anything of it.
06:49I thought it made total sense.
06:51Did you see takes everywhere that he made a big mistake?
06:54I did.
06:54Like, he called out James Cook or –
06:56Yeah.
06:57Like, he's not even saying I'm benching him.
06:58He's just saying, like, you just can't continue and continue and continue to fumble.
07:02Or – because I think the opposite would be worse.
07:06The opposite would be – we don't care how much he fumbles, no consequences.
07:10Right, that's no accountability.
07:11That's a worse message, I think.
07:13Yeah.
07:15So, it's very – it's strange to me, too.
07:18Is it, you know –
07:20He's figuring out what he wants to do with the media and, like, maybe it just doesn't come off the
07:26right way, the way he says it?
07:28Because I don't understand either why it got kind of fed as a controversy.
07:35Yeah.
07:35Yeah.
07:36Maybe it's also the Josh Allen derangement syndrome that some out there have.
07:41Maybe.
07:41Like, how could you say that about James Cook?
07:43Your quarterback turns it over more than anybody.
07:45I guess that could be it.
07:47It's a side effect of that.
07:49Just a weird attitude towards James Cook this year from outside of Buffalo.
07:53Like, how could you do that to James Cook?
07:55You don't give him any touchdowns at the one-yard line.
07:57How could you say that about James Cook?
08:00You're going to bench him if he keeps fumbling.
08:02He's a great player, but he's not immune to being benched if he fumbles every game.
08:08Right.
08:09And I feel like that's how the position works.
08:12The quarterback – if you bench the quarterback, they're out for the rest of the game or maybe lose their
08:17job.
08:18In running backs, you could just take a guy out for the game.
08:21Like, you know, I didn't give him any more carries for the game.
08:23I was mad at him.
08:24Right.
08:24And he'll be back next week.
08:26You don't exactly do that to quarterbacks unless it's a blowout of a game.
08:29You're down 40 points.
08:30And the Raiders did do that with Kirk Cousins.
08:33Vegas.
08:34This game will be interesting.
08:35Like, if Cook – as Brady says that, what – if Cook fumbles in the first half, is that just
08:41it?
08:41Is he one away from getting – and getting what?
08:45He's not – he's not getting fully benched.
08:47No.
08:47Right?
08:47Like, it's a split if he fumbles again, right?
08:50We're not going straight Ray Davis if James Cook fumbles one more time.
08:54Well, let me tell you this.
08:55I don't think.
08:56If Joe Brady wanted to show the world that Ray Davis and or Ty Johnson could do the job, this
09:04is the week to do it.
09:05And I'll explain why.
09:06I was talking with Joe Marino about this yesterday.
09:08How the matchups of the Bills' offensive line against the Raiders' defensive line is a wild mismatch.
09:15The Bills should be able to run all over Vegas.
09:19And after Joe made that point, I saw Scott Barrett of – Scott Barrett is Fantasy Football Daily Podcast.
09:25He pointed out that Buffalo's O-line versus Vegas' D-line.
09:30Here's some stats for you.
09:31The best run-blocking offensive line by yards before contact per attempt since 2021 is the Bills this year.
09:40This year.
09:41And it's a big gap to No. 2.
09:42No. 2 is actually the 2025 Ravens, which is the Derrick Henry Ravens.
09:47This Bills team has 3.65 yards before contact for James Cook.
09:53No. 1 in the last five years.
09:55Worst run-defending defensive lines by running back yards per contact per attempt in the last five years.
10:02This year's Raiders.
10:03Mm-hmm.
10:04You have the best run-blocking offensive line in the last five years against the worst run-stopping defensive line
10:10in the last five years.
10:12Cook and whoever they hand the ball to should have a field day.
10:16And we had a Raiders guest on yesterday who said that the one player that probably will not play for
10:21them this week is –
10:23not a name I was familiar with before yesterday, but he said he's their best defensive tackle.
10:27Tonka Hemingway.
10:28And he's not playing on Sunday.
10:30A great defensive tackle.
10:31How did we not know about Tonka Hemingway?
10:33I'm so – I'm devastated the Bills do not have Tonka on this team.
10:36Tonka Hemingway.
10:37It's great.
10:37Right.
10:38Amazing.
10:38Tonka Hemingway.
10:39But he's their best defensive tackle, apparently, and he is not expected to play on Sunday.
10:43So that helps, too.
10:44Now it's the NFL, which means the thing you think is going to happen won't.
10:47But everything lines up for James Cook to run for 150 and two touchdowns.
10:52Right.
10:52And to quiet all the criticism because they might not – whatever, I'm speaking a little hyperbolic.
10:59They might not even touch him, never mind have time to peanut punch the ball.
11:02Right.
11:02I mean, with all that being said and after the week that's happened, do we not just think he's going
11:07to get –
11:07the first ten plays of the game are just going to be all James Cook runs?
11:10It might just be like the Pittsburgh game.
11:12It's a redemption game for him.
11:14Change the narrative on him and his fumbles.
11:16Yeah.
11:17And run all over the Raiders.
11:20People are going to get mad at me.
11:21I expected the Bills to win big against the Chargers and the Patriots, and neither one of those games went
11:25like that.
11:25And here I am thinking that Cook's going to run all over the Raiders.
11:28I think they could score a million points and not win by a million points.
11:31Because just their defense now is going to keep them in closer games than in the past.
11:37803-0550.
11:38We're going to break in.
11:39Jeremy and Joe, it's a football Friday.
11:40It's pizza Friday.
11:41You can join us and chat with us about Bills, Raiders.
11:44Are you already there?
11:45Are you in the airport?
11:46Give us some check-ins from the airports around America, from Vegas itself.
11:52Oh, it's 3.47 in the morning.
11:53Maybe you're out from last night still.
11:56Very possible.
11:57Going to be a fun trip for the Mafia here on WTR.
