00:02The 48-year-old man who is allegedly behind this incident will face a bedside court hearing
00:09today.
00:10But this really all unfolded around 10.45pm on Tuesday evening this week when hospital
00:17staff called police to the Prince of Wales Hospital here in Randwick after reports that
00:23a 48-year-old patient had doused two men and a woman with accelerant.
00:28Now, police allege that one of those people, a 54-year-old man, was set alight and hospital
00:35staff had rushed to his aid to extinguish the fire.
00:38And we believe he has suffered minor burns as a result of that, but he is in a stable
00:45condition.
00:45Now, in relation to the other two alleged victims, we also understand they suffered minor injuries
00:51but are also in a stable condition.
00:54Now, it's not quite known as to why this happened or the motive behind this incident, but police
01:02have charged the 48-year-old man allegedly behind this with a string of charges.
01:08Now, they include two counts of attempted murder, common assault and two counts of attempt to
01:14cause grievous bodily harm to a person with intent.
01:17Now, police have also said that that 48-year-old man is undergoing a mental health assessment
01:23today and, as I mentioned, will appear via an audio-visual link for a bedside court hearing
01:30today.
