AccuWeather hears from our partner Lowe's on the assistance it's providing in communities affected by Hurricane Isaias.
Transcript
00:00You know, I understand that the bucket and tote brigades that Lowe's supplies were ready to deploy right after landfall.
00:07So where have they gone so far? And roughly how many households have they reached?
00:12Yesterday, our Lowe's Red Vest Associates hosted six disaster relief bucket brigades at stores across the Gulf Coast, including Mobile,
00:20Dothan, and Panama City.
00:21We distributed more than 1,400 buckets of essential cleanup and recovery supplies, like disinfectant spray, trash bags, gloves, masks.
00:29In addition to our disaster brigades, we set up 17 store accounts in heavily impacted areas.
00:35And Kelvin, as residents are looking to recover from damages, how is Lowe's helping people respond to the impacts and
00:40what products are in especially high demand?
00:43Our Lowe's Command Center team stayed in activation from Thursday through this past Monday.
00:47Our stores were open Saturday morning, ready to assist our customers with things like generators, gas cans, tarps, water.
00:56I mean, chainsaws were in high demand as well.
00:58And our Red Vest Associates, they doubled as storm-tested experts.
01:02They're happy to educate customers on which products best fits their homes, their business, and whatever product and projects that
01:08they're working on at that time.
01:10And when you were last with us, you spoke a little bit about the Associate Relief Fund.
01:15So can you give us an update on how you all are supporting your associates?
01:20Yeah, Jeff, our number one asset is our associates.
01:23And Lowe's provides financial assistance to help associates, including those affected by disaster, through the Lowe's Employee Relief Fund.
01:31Following landfall, we received almost 40 LERF applications from our store associates in the hard-hit areas.
01:37We appreciate all that you are doing with this particular disaster and others in the past and those yet to
01:43come.
01:43Kelvin Debner, Supply Chain Senior Vice President with Lowe's.
01:47Thanks again, Kelvin.
01:48Thank you for your partnership.
