00:06i go to the coin flip app hit the button heads or tails tails he takes tails it is a
00:14head
00:14and uh i will receive oh getting aggressive over there doug i sure as hell am different rules in
00:22that is true all right question number one ea sports college football is running into some
00:28problems college football 27 only remained in the top 10 sellers for one month meanwhile player
00:34compensation has increased from 600 per athlete in 2024 totaling to 7.5 million to now it's 1500
00:41per athlete for the latest release approaching 20 million ea sports is having some internal
00:46discussions about what to do what are your thoughts on this doug well remember they took the game away
00:51before uh when the player sued for actually name image and likeness money and it kind of sparked
00:56what eventually got us to the system that we're at which is funny that a video game is what started
01:02this whole process for nil but the sports bubble this is an example of it bursting losing a video
01:08game isn't reaching some sort of critical mass but it serves as a bit of a warning if it does
01:13go away
01:13that money can dry up there is not an endless fire hose of cash this game was killed once when
01:20ea sports
01:21was ordered to compensate those athletes back in 2014 bigger things might be in jeopardy here and
01:26i understand the need for cost certainty on behalf of the schools and a sustainable model because
01:31let's face it nobody wants college football to go away the video game might go away including the
01:37players and i've liked the new world but if earnings get capped for players i think they should get capped
01:44for everyone i think there's a situation for this business with ea sports where they've got a contract
01:52with the players and it needs to be an nhl like contract that is tied directly to the revenues
02:00from the sold product period so the players know up front okay here's here's what we've set aside we've
02:07set aside 20 of profits or 40 whatever the number is this is the number we agree on we'll go
02:13to the
02:13players here we're open with our books so now you guys know that in terms of how much money you're
02:18going to get compensated with it's going to fluctuate it's going to change every year it's tied to the
02:22revenues and that's what makes sense some years maybe you're going to have a it'll be a good year
02:27because they've sold a lot of the product maybe you'll get two thousand dollars some years maybe
02:31not so much and you're going to get five hundred dollars but get tied to the revenues then keep
02:35people happy like we're trying to keep this thing afloat because we love the game but
02:39you know if we have to pay out so much money we can't afford to keep the game going
02:45so this is only a problem if ea sports is losing money i mean are they losing money because forgive
02:50me if we're not crying about big corporations not making enough profits okay now if they are losing
02:55money yes something needs to change there because they can't continue to offer you know operating at
03:00a loss of course so either increase the price of the game or lower player compensation or you can
03:06find other revenues to help cover the player compensation um unfortunately for fortunately or
03:11unfortunately the college players don't have a union in the nfl they have a union so this is kind
03:15of taken care of through you know their games that how they get paid college football it's a little
03:19bit different so like i said i go back to if you're making a profit i'm not crying for you
03:25oh we're making less than we made before too too bad you're still making money but if you're losing
03:29money yeah things have to change i think do people do want the game of course the fans do and
03:33if the
03:33players don't think they're getting enough money then they won't be in the game and that's their choice
03:39all right question number two kentucky they were fined five hundred thousand dollars after fans
03:44rushed the field following its 35 34 victory over lsu do you like this rule i do um i think
03:51you should
03:51try to curtail this as often as possible because having tens of thousands of fans rush the field after
03:58a big game it's dangerous it's dangerous to the opposition it's dangerous to the home team things
04:03happen people get trampled on and people get hurt you don't want to see that you take down the goal
04:08post when that happens i mean there's a risk to that there's um you know the field can get damaged
04:14the five hundred thousand dollars is that enough of a deterrent i don't know if it is but in in
04:19some
04:19cases it's going to be in most cases it should be but it also would help to pay for the
04:25cost of
04:25having added security at the next big game that you've got to try to prevent something like from like
04:31this from happening look running out of the field is is a fun thing for students to get to do
04:35and um but what it can be dangerous having having lived this okay being the sideline reporter for 16
04:43years when michigan would lose on the road more often than not the field would get stormed now it
04:48was only scary in columbus that's the only time where things got really kind of physical um it wasn't
04:55like ridiculous but it's trying to get off the field can be tough and remember on the sidelines
05:01there are student managers there's people got to break down the comm systems and pack up the pet you
05:06know the kicking that and all the extra equipment that's got to get rolled off in these giant boxes
05:11and there's the fan storming the field the one little subtlety of this rule that i think is hysterical
05:17is that the sec when kentucky gets fined five hundred thousand dollars the team that got stormed
05:23gets the money so it goes to lsu lsu can turn around and hand it out an nil deal and
05:29say thanks
05:29kentucky yeah i know i read up on that too doug and i found that funny as well and the
05:34students they
05:35don't care because it's not coming out of their pocket even though it goes to lsu it comes from
05:39the school itself so as a student this will be awesome to rush the field and it might not deter
05:45you
05:45since the university has to pay the fine but the schools and conferences they have to protect
05:49themselves so there's just too many possible lawsuits safety hazards that exist to allow
05:54rushing the field now so i do like the rule it protects the school and the conference in case
05:58something does happen they say hey listen you guys know this is a rule we actually get fined if you
06:02guys do this and it's not the wild west unfortunately it's not like it it used to be where it
06:06seemed like
06:07fans could just run onto baseball fields while someone hit a historic home run and congratulate him
06:11while he's around in second weird huh all right all right excuse me in a great college football
06:19espionage story the night before texas tech defeated colorado 29 7 a texas tech fan posted on social media
06:25the colorado football booklet displaying scripted offensive plays opponent tendencies and other notes
06:31is this is at the lobby of the colorado team's hotel okay the booklet was reportedly containing 17
06:37series openers 24 label or plays labeled called must calls should there be any consequences for
06:43anyone on texas tech side and colorado side the fan himself the message board the hotel what should
06:49happen here okay so i've been to a lot of team hotels and usually there's a secured area that's
06:54roped off for just the team oftentimes it's an entire like second floor of ballrooms where the
06:59offense has a ballroom the defense has a ballroom but fans aren't allowed there and there are times
07:06where there are security guards uh to keep fans out if somebody got into that area now it said no
07:11story said the lobby if somebody got into that area then i kind of think it falls on the security
07:16for
07:16letting them in there uh and that that should be the consequences without knowing how this got
07:21accessed by a texas tech fan uh it's hard to say who should be there there should be consequences
07:27there probably won't be consequences there'll probably be changes as far as locking down areas
07:32that the team is um so we'll see how it plays itself out but i i don't think there's anything
07:38real serious the irony is colorado took the football right down the field and scored their first
07:41possession so this reminds me of the brady bunch episode it's a classic yeah where greg brady found
07:48out that marsh's boyfriend jerry rogers who was a star quarterback for fairview uh the absolute rival
07:55of westdale which is where greg went uh he was snooping around looking at greg's playbook
08:00well greg noticed it or they found out because bobby found out and he said hey he's snooping
08:04around they made up a fake playbook left it for jerry to take he took it greg came clean before
08:12the
08:12game said look man we made up this fake playbook i can't have you you know you know thinking that
08:15you've got one and jerry's like i don't know what you're talking about man have no idea all right
08:20fair enough well i warned you needless to say fairview got crushed by westdale because westdale is just
08:26bigger and better um so this is what this reminds me of also by the way tank gates uh carol
08:32brady's
08:32uh high school sweetheart makes an appearance in that game as well coming in for the rivalry
08:36um what this has to do with this situation i don't know just an awesome opportunity for me to go
08:43into
08:43some brady some brady uh trivia knowledge i knew it i knew it exactly thank you for only coming up
08:49to
08:49that one all right any i don't i don't care what happens you know somebody left the playbook out
08:55okay don't leave a playbook out how's that so yeah i if should there be any consequences only if it
09:01violates any rules if it didn't violate any rules then it's fair play it's not too complicated in my
09:05mind were any rules or laws broken if so punish accordingly if not game on
09:11another week another college coaching criticizing his own a college coach criticizing his own fan base
09:16texas a&m coach mike elko referred to billy's cesspool when differentiating the fan bases at large
09:22from who from those who criticize the aggies on social media he has apologized but is this going
09:28to be a new thing coaches lashing out their own fans it's it's nothing new this has gone on forever
09:34uh whether coaches are complaining about fans in one way or another like typically it's been but
09:38not showing up leaving early or booing the team i mean it's or the performance coaches have
09:46to develop a thicker skin and simply spin it in a way that's going to make sense you know when
09:51they
09:51asked about it after a game and the the the fans booing say i understand why they're booing we didn't
09:56give them a reason to cheer and move on that's it it's so simple to avoid putting your foot in
10:02your
10:02mouth i'm surprised that coaches do it as often as they do it's their frustration coming out right
10:06and you shouldn't do this but i want to stop and say i love the term billy cesspool because social
10:13media is just not a real place and i think it brings out the worst of the worst and yes
10:18billy
10:19cesspool is prevalent on social media but i i don't know the coaches you got to learn a thicker skin
10:26take the high road it's a no-win situation is mike elko new or something seriously i've said this a
10:33million times about college football fans y'all are crazy mike elko guess what college football fans
10:38they're crazy i've also said never picking you never pick a fight with the fans because you never
10:43win and he did both of that here he didn't realize they were crazy and he picked a fight with
10:47them
10:47even if you're right you're gonna lose so every time it happens guess what it's followed up with
10:52an apology so stop doing it and i get it though they're human doug and then sometimes real human
10:57emotions come out but you gotta know better at this point arch manning dante moore darian mensa
11:06and julian saying they will all be draft eligible who should stay and who should go pro okay so saw
11:11mock draft today from usa today that only had dante moore and arch manning in the first round pro
11:16football focus had one yesterday that only had dante moore in the first round last year the first pick
11:23of the second round in the nfl draft their contract the average annual value was just under three
11:29million i'm guessing that any of these dudes if you're not going to be a first round pick if they
11:35come back will probably make more than that by staying in school and have a chance to improve
11:40their draft status so as of now as much as i'd like to see saying bolt i think mensa saying
11:46it should
11:47definitely go back and arch manning probably should too because i don't think he's trending towards
11:52being a first round pick even though usa today had him there today yeah i i'm kind of uh all
11:57in here
11:57with having dante moore be the only one of these four that should go pro i think dante moore has
12:02proven
12:02himself that he can be a that guy who can be a top 10 pick the first quarterback taken in
12:07the draft
12:07arch manning stock is drugs dropped significantly and mensa should just have fun man you're having a
12:14blast go keep having that blast julian saying same thing man you've uh you've got a heck of a career
12:20going here jeremiah smith is what a sophomore so he's right yes um so work with him stay in school
12:30enjoy it i think no smith is a junior or smith a junior yeah is he okay so anyways bye
12:36oh that's
12:37right because he's projecting number one overall my bad yeah same should still stick around because
12:41they've got just a ton of of talent there and enjoy life as a college quarterback man yeah i don't
12:47have
12:47an exciting answer here my answer is always simple with these type of questions and draft status if
12:51you have a first round grade you should probably go pro of course you can always come back and get
12:54better improve your draft stock but none of that's guaranteed you get hurt you can play worse
12:59unless you're one of these generational talents where it doesn't matter if you get hurt like in
13:03basketball wambi you know he could get hurt it wouldn't matter he would have been the number one
13:06pick overall anyways but none of these qbs are that generational talent so i think at the end of the
13:10season you don't go through your your team your marketing your agent whatever it is your
13:15people they give you first round grades you almost guarantee your first round pick then go pro
13:19otherwise then then you got to think about it
13:26our last one ohio state at indiana this weekend who you got i'm team signetti iu is a balanced attack
13:32i i think that uh they've had this game circled under schedule for a long long time perhaps to the
13:37point where they've been holding back a little bit with their playbook because they want to
13:40unload on ohio state now can they get pressure on julian sand that's going to be the key to
13:45limiting the damage that jeremiah smith does this should be a slugfest for 60 minutes maybe even
13:51more i'm going to take iu in the end 38 to 34 peeps in the india athletic department literally told
13:57me
13:57this week it's the biggest game in memorial stadium history the buy-in price last check which was
14:03early yesterday was over 450 i think indiana rides the early wave of building hubris to a lead
14:11but ohio state too talented in the end and gets the win oh yuck all right i got ohio state
14:17indiana
14:18is a very solid team all around but i'm just going to take basically julian salen jeremiah smith
14:22those two talents alone i think gets ohio state to win close game but good game but ohio state comes
14:27on top and there it is that concludes the college football blitz thingy
