00:00Clay Holmes was only traded by the New York Mets because he had value,
00:03and his value was significant.
00:05Between himself and Tyrone Taylor,
00:07they helped muster a return for the 68th best prospect
00:10in Major League Baseball, Promo B Pipeline's latest rankings,
00:13and shortstop stud 21-year-old Jefferson Rojas,
00:16who will be at the Major League level for the New York Mets in 2027.
00:19For Clay, who's now a free agent, entering his age 34 season,
00:23looking for a price range of anywhere likely from $60 to $75-plus million
00:27in that Sean Minaya type of realm on a likely, I'd imagine,
00:30anywhere from two- to four-year deal.
00:32The Mets absolutely have a level of interest.
00:35They just didn't want to extend him and feel like that that hand was forced,
00:38knowing that there's a lot of uncertainty with depending CBA
00:41and wanting to see how things would shake out for the remainder of the year
00:44after trading him.
00:45So I think that they were smart by maximizing his value,
00:48and I really do believe that Clay Holmes has a role to Chapman 2016
00:51written all over him as someone who was traded away by the Yankees
00:55to the Cubs in 2016.
00:56Chapman goes on to win the World Series with them,
00:58and then the Yankees in turn land a nice little prospect
01:01by the name of Glaber Torres of the time.
01:03And then once the Cubs' run is done,
01:06Aroles return right back to the Bronx with the Yankees.
