00:00hello everyone alena lavrentova is here and today we are going to do extensions with craft gel tips
00:07and we will be working with iris k gels by the way this is a budget friendly
00:12option so stay tuned and don't switch channels meanwhile i've removed the old coating filed
00:18everything and now i'm taking my nippers and pusher and as usual starting to do the manicure
00:23the cuticle here is pretty average nothing super special really so i can easily handle it with a
00:28pusher and as always i'm using talcum powder and yes that's my talcum powder covered in stickers
00:34from the i want to file festival so anyway this is now my lucky manicure powder i really love this
00:41little bottle and i wasn't the only one who used it while filing nails lots of other people did too
00:45anyway here i'm starting off with a safety bit it's a carbide bit that has an absolutely dull
00:51wait what do you call it blade long story short dull i forgot the word but it doesn't matter
00:57anyway you get what i mean it's dull not like a carbide bit for removal it just lifts the cuticle
01:03and then i easily manage with a regular diamond bit in this case i'm using a pointed flame bit
01:09after we've lifted the cuticle i move on to cutting it for this i'll be using my favorite s04j scissors
01:16i feel like words are totally unnecessary here awesome scissors can't say anything bad about them
01:21maybe they're out of stock or maybe they're available anyway check for yourselves look it up don't
01:26forget the model s04j and then let's not forget about buffing and of course a quick wet cleanse
01:33my favorite is the foam cleanser so nice clean and fresh anyway next we move on to the gel tips
01:39i'll choose tips that fit each nail exactly now pay attention doing it like this is wrong or rather
01:46placing it this way you need to hold it exactly the way i'm showing in the video right now meaning
01:51squeezing it with your fingers to create an arch that's because the craft gel tip
01:55is a gel tip that's very soft flexible and pliable it's only meant to be used as a base in
02:00other words
02:01it's not a standalone product and the correct placement looks exactly like what i'm showing
02:05right now so remember this and give it a try despite how deceptively simple this grip looks
02:10it's actually not even close to being simple at all oh and here i chose a base
02:16i'm using acrea by biotech by bsg but i have to say if you're a beginner go with something a
02:22bit
02:22thicker and it's better to get either the viscous base by biotech the same one or the base by ml
02:29which
02:29i usually use a rubber one in short a nice thick one and we got a little bubble right here
02:34well people
02:35ask me what to do just poke it down in the air with your brush like this and everything will
02:39be fine
02:39a tiny bubble was left behind but nothing will happen because it's locally sealed in there meaning
02:44it's locked in and no dirt can get to it as for the seam i recommend going over it with
02:48the base
02:48as you may have noticed i hadn't applied a base coat under layer before this
02:53right now i'm just filling in the seam
02:56and after that a bit of filing awaits me this is how the nails look after filing meaning this is
03:01now a high quality solid base that we can work on with our favorite gel since we have a design
03:06coming
03:06up yes right now i'm showing how i file the thumb so our goal is to file down the seam
03:11that's
03:11precisely why i applied the base coat there next we file the sides of the nails straight so there
03:16are no notches nothing sticking out and nothing getting in the way by the way for this i use a
03:21180 grit nail file from nippon nippers on a foam base people often ask me which file to choose well
03:29basically choose whichever you want i file with nippon ones but the most important thing for me is still
03:35that it's on a foam base anyway our nail is ready now i apply the primer to let's say bond
03:41everything
03:41together and then you can proceed as usual i took an elastic base but i'm applying it in a medium
03:47thin
03:47layer meaning no leveling nothing like that because next i'll be working with gel but before grabbing the
03:53gel we decided to start with the design this is a colored gel polish it's so pretty kind of purple
03:59but
03:59actually with a golden shimmer in short it's something really unusual and i'm just adding
04:05loose glitter that i have lying around well from this glitter drawer i think everyone has one anyway
04:10i'm applying the gel polish with a brush i think this is a 1.5 brush from julia belly yeah
04:16i think
04:17that's the one natural bristles but honestly any brush will do it's just the one i grabbed and right
04:22onto the wet gel polish i place some glitter hexagons basically whatever you find you can stuff in there
04:28and next up is the star of the show an affordable gel that holds up reasonably and decently well
04:33for me it's the abc gel from irisk it's a sheer pink well basically you can't really see it's pink
04:39tint so i use it as a clear gel and as you can see i'm building a little bit of
04:45volume near the cuticle
04:46area that is on the upper third of the nail plate next i have this pretty abc gel called grape
04:53well i assume
04:54that means grape but it's a bit too dark for my idea so i'm diluting it with the same clear
04:58gel i
04:59used initially if you're worried i really recommend mixing two gels from the same brand that way there
05:04definitely won't be any compatibility issues so i'm adding clear gel even more than the colored base
05:10because i need this kind of lilac shade but i want it to be more like well glowing and translucent
05:16like stained glass meaning semi-shear on its own and here i get this seemingly super pale shade at first
05:23but wait now we'll spread it all out and it will look gorgeous first i'm applying a slip layer with
05:30a
05:30brush but as you can see i'm not painting over the part where i've already laid down the clear gel
05:35so i place the bead a bit lower because i already have volume there and now i'm gently blending it
05:41into the
05:42upper third yes that's what it will look like and then i'll stretch it along the entire length down
05:50to the free edge this is so that you don't end up with such a sharp straight line of the
05:56markation
05:56that is i want it to blend smoothly from the glitter and clear base into our ready-mixed jelly shade
06:03just a
06:04reminder the gels from ataris ariski are really well super budget friendly i mean they're like 395 rubles if
06:11i'm not mistaken overall it's a completely reasonable price take note they have entire
06:15collections of both jelly gels and whatever else you want i leveled it with two beads of gel it all
06:20depends on the length if it were a bit shorter one would have been enough the gel pinches perfectly
06:25i was pinching it at about the 10 to 12 second mark it's an individual thing it depends on the
06:31lamp
06:32for my lamp it takes even less time i don't know what kind of lamp you have so be sure
06:36to test it out
06:37let's show once more how it looks on the other nails to be honest for me it's such a mesmerizing
06:43process that you could just watch it endlessly oh the brush which brush am i working with listen
06:48i can't even remember right now i think it's also a billy brush an oval one if i'm not mistaken
06:54but don't quote me on that as they say basically you can work with any brush that you like any
06:59well
07:00in my opinion synthetic bristles work best for gel high quality synthetic bristles preferably not too long
07:05and with a good bounce to them this is how our nails look before filing yes i'm going to file
07:10again i'm someone who loves filing because no matter how neatly you apply this gel a couple of file
07:16strokes still won't hurt and these nails have already been filed now i'll show you how i work on
07:21the thumbs you can clearly see the zones i'm filing here that is first we clean up the sidewalls look
07:27from above so it's not chubby like that and then we go over the surface smoothing all of this out
07:32into
07:32this even upper arch or the overall structure basically whatever you prefer to call it the tip
07:38has turned white no need to worry about that it's just because i wiped it with cleanser we'll cover
07:42it all up later anyway it'll be fine like that then we take another color gel all of my color
07:47gels
07:47today are from emi this one isn't shimmery but rather a soft delicate purple and i'll use it to paint
07:53well something like a french tip but strictly strictly right on the very edge and i won't give it a
07:59curved
07:59smile line or round it out like that because i'm going for well you know kind of an american nail
08:05aesthetic i guess gel tips came to us from over there anyway from the west and i wanted to show
08:10you how i see it anyway we added a thin border in a pastel shade close to the gel's color
08:16and now we
08:17draw a smile line like this creating an imitation of the nail bed basically right about where i picture
08:23it should be and it doesn't make any sense yet does it admit it for now it's just sparking somewhere
08:29while the rest is all matte so literally we'll need to cover it all with a top coat and then
08:35our design
08:36will fully reveal itself although the matte version also had a certain charm so we take the top coat and
08:43apply it i won't even say anything it's going to be so so pretty right now by the way about
08:49the underside
08:50right i apply it flush with the natural nail plate and then pull it down toward the free edge
08:55everything is degreased there i apply a very thin layer of top coat i apply it not with the bottle
09:00brush but with a gel brush that same size 1.5 brush i cure everything from all sides and here's
09:06our result
09:07long beautiful highlights elongated and graceful fingers we loved it by the way the nails held up
09:14completely fine a month or so give or take we already did a refill on them a while ago to
09:19be honest
09:19it's about time i edit that refill video too anyway let me know in the comments how you like this
09:24look
09:25pretty useful ugly or maybe nothing surprises me anymore you know there are all kinds of people
09:32out there but we thought it looked so so pretty we captured the final result using a macro lens
09:38some might say there are bubbles yes there are because well i mixed it right before getting started
09:42if you want to avoid those bubbles either find the gel in the right shade right away well i don't
09:47know i mean
09:48well maybe someone out there has it anyway i just thought of mixing it like this and we decided that
09:53bubbles are just part of our design in reality you can't even see them in person you only notice them
09:58like this when you're shooting macro and staring at them for a long time so i guess it's well kind
10:03of a
10:04flaw but not really a super big deal besides we don't look at our hands like this but at arm's
10:09length
10:09after all you kind of look at it sort of like this and it actually looks pretty all in all
10:14i consider the
10:15mission accomplished we did nail extensions with monogel tips using gels by iris ariski everything's
10:21great everything's cool they held up really well so i can definitely recommend the budget-friendly gels from
10:26iris ariski
