00:00Before we get to our previews, we celebrate the life of Mike Ditka, who passed away this week
00:05at 86 years old, the former Bears and Saints head coach, I may add. Some people forgot that
00:11he actually did coach the Saints for a couple of years. Ditka led the team to the Super Bowl in
00:151985. He was a character amongst characters in the game. He also spent a lot of time in the
00:21broadcast booth, in the studio, and Joe in the 80s, which you and I both lived. He was one of
00:29those special characters in the National Football League. Also a great player, which doesn't get
00:34talked about enough. I mean, he had 1,076 receiving yards. He was the first tight end in NFL history
00:39to break 1,000 yards in a single season, and he did it in his rookie year on 56 catches.
00:43So, in a way,
00:45he was kind of a revolutionary player at the tight end position. Obviously, the 85 Bears, one of the
00:50greatest public teams of all time that, as we were talking about before, you know, when you come out
00:57with the Super Bowl shuffle in a song, how you're going to win in November, you're pretty confident
01:02about how things are going to go. A team that had incredible characters, the story between him and
01:06Buddy Ryan, where they barely spoke, and Ryan coached the defense, but he was the head coach,
01:10and the tension there. But 85 Bears were one of those, you know, shining stars for a moment before
01:16they burned out. And then later in New Orleans, you know, he tried to kind of put all his chips
01:21in
01:21there for Ricky Williams, and that was kind of the undoing of that team. Unfortunately, they just
01:25could not get enough around him after they dealt all those picks for Ricky Williams. The game had
01:29changed. I don't think Ditka's style had changed enough and evolved over that time, but a great
01:33football career. And when you think 80s head coaches, I mean, stylistically, Ditka's got to come
01:39to mind, right? Iron Mike Ditka. Yeah, yeah. One of the most popular coaches of all time, too, without a
01:45doubt.
01:45So,
