00:00Instagram does not currently offer a single button to delete an entire chat history for both participants at once.
00:05However, you can remove messages from both sides by unsending them individually or use Vanish mode for future messages.
00:12Here are the step-by-step instructions for managing messages from both sides.
00:16Open Instagram and tap the Messenger DM icon, Paper Plane, or Chat Bubble in the top right corner.
00:21Select the conversation where you want to remove the messages.
00:25Locate the specific message you sent that you want to delete from both sides.
00:29Tap and hold on that individual message.
00:32Tap unsend from the pop-up menu that appears.
00:35Confirm by tapping unsend again.
00:37The message will be removed for everyone in the chat.
00:39Repeat the process for any other messages you want to retract.
00:43Note, you can only unsend messages that you personally sent, not messages sent by the other person.
00:48Alternatively, for future conversations, you can turn on Vanish mode by opening a chat and swiping up from the bottom
00:54of the screen.
00:54Messages seen in Vanish mode disappear as soon as you close the chat.
