00:00Texas, Oklahoma, the total is, I mean, it feels historic for this game in a negative fashion.
00:09We'll call it 39 and a half.
00:12There's about an even split, I would say, right now of 39 and a half and 38 and a half.
00:19Dave, I'll let you kind of go first here and make your case on the Texas OU total.
00:26Yeah, and I'm not going to pretend that this is not one that I'm not going to be holding onto
00:30my seats,
00:30hoping and praying when it's 24-10 in the fourth quarter that we don't get another score
00:35because I'm taking the Red River shootout and I'm going under it.
00:39And I know, you know, we play up the Undertaker nickname that V-CIN and other channels have given me
00:43over the years.
00:44And from 2016 to 2023, almost a decade, this Red River rivalry didn't have less than 53 points.
00:52There was 53 points or more in every single one of these games for eight straight years, yet I'm on
00:58the under.
00:59Why? Well, this isn't 2023 anymore.
01:01In 2024, it was 34-3 Texas.
01:04Last year, 23-6 Texas.
01:06And by the way, the Oklahoma offense, one that you were on at one point, Kevin, versus Georgia, has not
01:12gotten any better.
01:14Hasn't gotten any better.
01:15While the defense, along with Texas' defense, are two of the best in the country.
01:19We'll start with Texas.
01:21Three of their four games to the under this year, only going over in week one when they poured in
01:2559 versus Texas State.
01:27Since then, they've scored 20 and 24 versus Power 4 schools.
01:31They only had 262 total yards of offense versus Tennessee and converted 25% of their third downs against Tennessee.
01:38Not a rivalry game like Oklahoma.
01:40The Longhorn defense, one of the best in the country.
01:4312th in scoring, third in adjusted defensive EPA.
01:45Now you look at Oklahoma.
01:47We've talked about how crappy their offense is.
01:50Also played three of their four games to the under.
01:52They've scored 14 points or less in three consecutive games, and none of those games were against the Texas Longhorns.
02:01119th, Kevin, in offensive success rate.
02:05128th in rushing success rate.
02:07But they're number one in the nation in defensive EPA per play.
02:12Two really good defenses.
02:13An Oklahoma offense that's awful.
02:16And a Texas offense that I don't think is as good as the number one name next to them is.
02:21Because they've had one good game all year.
02:24One good quarter all year of offense against Ohio State.
02:27So I'm going under the 39 and a half, and I'll be holding on to my seat.
02:32Yeah, I think, you know, this is not.
02:35And it's probably what happens when you play totals this low.
02:38No one's ever really comfortable.
02:41Because it's low.
02:42It doesn't take a lot to burn you if you're on the under.
02:45But if you're on the over, you're like, well, this might not be fun.
02:49And that's why I feel kind of going into this game.
02:52This might not be fun.
02:53But on the OU side, you mentioned the Georgia game.
02:59And I got to tell you guys, they deserve more than 13 points in that one.
03:05Now, they were moving it.
03:07John Mateer, being insane, might just be what the season is going to be.
03:13But his three fumbles and one interception, it not only gave Georgia points,
03:19it was consistently taking points off the board for Oklahoma.
03:26And I think if I'm OU, the Texas defense is very good.
03:32It is not.
03:35If it is even better than Georgia's, it would not be much better, right?
03:39So, okay, if I'm a tier, I've seen a defense of this caliber.
03:44Again, maybe better.
03:45And I'm off a bye week.
03:48And, like, by the way, there's been reports they're giving a little bit of work
03:52to the backup quarterbacks.
03:53I'm fighting for my job here.
03:55I have to play the best game of my life.
03:58Okay, that's part one.
04:00Now the Texas side.
04:02Because let's really – Sark has the number one team in the country,
04:07and nobody thinks they're one of the five best teams right now in college football
04:10when you start to put people to it.
04:12Most people would tell you Georgia are better.
04:16People would tell you Notre Dame are better.
04:19Miami are better.
04:20Indiana, maybe.
04:21And you know who pretty much everybody thinks is better than them?
04:24The team they beat.
04:27Because they followed up the Ohio State game by only scoring 30 against UTSA.
04:33And then – and again, because I remember how I felt going into Texas, Tennessee,
04:39as someone who played the under.
04:40On the card, not a best bet.
04:43And, you know, we taught me, Dave, our great crew behind the scenes.
04:48And the number had moved a little bit.
04:49I'm like, I hate to say this, like, it doesn't matter.
04:52I don't think it gets close.
04:55Because I understand the struggles that Texas have had.
04:59But they're now off a bye week.
05:01And I don't think these two coaching staffs spent this extra prep time saying,
05:07okay, guys, let's batten down the hatches.
05:09Time for us to win all these games 2017.
05:12It's time for these offenses to get going here.
05:14It's time for Arch Manning, supposed to be a Heisman Trophy contender,
05:19to look like it maybe one gosh darn time.
05:22It's time for John Mateer, who a season ago, at this point in the calendar,
05:28was the Heisman Trophy favorite.
05:30It's time for it to look like that.
05:32I just think what we have in front of us,
05:35it is either the bottom of the market on these offenses,
05:40or both of these teams are going to fail to meet their expectations.
05:43we need to make an impact on these offenses you have,
05:43and we need to look at your expectations.
